To explain:
"˜Chit' is short for chity/chittee which comes from the hindi word cittha meaning memorandum or note.
Pink colour of chit = issued by the woman of the house.
Widely used to give named individual/holder of the "˜chit' permission to go out by oneself. Pink chits generally have firm stipulations as to the time the holder is required to be back under supervision of the woman of the house and have various "˜payback' clauses detailing future tasks (chores) that the holder will be required to perform"¦"¦"¦..
The origins of 'pink chit' are from the Peninsular war of 1809-12 or so. It was used by the officer of the day (OOD) to give permission for troops to fall out on the march to relieve themselves. Any troop found out of the ranks without the chit as signed by the OOD were liable to arrest and in for a good dose of field punishment. To stop false chits being made the OOD was given expensive pink paper to write these permissions on. (This pink paper was deemed to be too expensive for ordinary troops to buy).

I was fortunate to have my session this afternoon and took my neighbour Elliot as my guest, and what an excellent occasion with superb Porsche hospitality.
After the GT3 GenII session in December I thought the Turbo was going to have to be something extra special to beat that.
Well decision has been made it has to be the new Turbo BUT it has to be the right spec Turbo. Without Porsche Vectoring and PDK I would stick with my present turbo and not give the Gen II a glance but the difference between the Fully tech specced (PV Thingy, ceramics and adaptive engine mounts ) Turbo and a Normal Gen II are amazing , I was able to cut the bends as closely as the GT3 in the car with the PVT and the car without those active additions just couldn't hold the same line due to the car/suspension movement amazing. There also seems to have been some changes in the steering department between the GenI and GenII although the thicker steering wheels may have contributed to some of the possible improvement. Now will just have to start saving for the correctly specced Turbo Gen II that hits the used market in a years time.
Just to add I also had some of the best driving tuition that I've come across on numerous experience days, which culminated in transiting the ice hill with everything turned off and at a fair rate of knots and not spinning the car, the same techniques saw me cracking the kick plate surface again with no spins. A big thank you to Mark for his assessment of my bad habits and giving me the opportunity to correct them.
Excellent day and thank you to Notts OPC for the opportunity, Elliot was blown away by the Turbo experience and just a little bit sick after being thrown around the handling circuit in the Panamera. Just a note on the Panamera it does shift around the circuit in a very 911 fashion, but I was watching the dash until all the traction aid lights flashing also made me feel ill, I don't think any lights came up on the Turbo apart from on the ice surfaces and there's the rub, yes you can throw the Panamera about like a sports car but an awful lot of widgets are keeping you and yours from visiting the scenery. The wigets are there in the 911 but you just don't need them as much.
"And finally" am I alone in thinking the Millbrook Porsche sessions had the edge with the alpine circuit over the Silverstone handling circuit.
Oh! second "and finally" James the Porsche 911, cayman Boxster product manager introduced himself and I had chance to tackle him on the issue of debris ingress into the rads on the Turbo and the fact that the GT3 GenII has mesh screens fitted (as standard?) I mentioned my bucket of leaves post my Germany trip and recent radiator(s) replacement due to corrosion, he noted this and said he would feed this back to the Techequipment people. I then mentioned what a pain it is to have to take your eye off the road to reach down and select the sport button (actually in the new Turbo its sport and sport plus buttons) good news is that Porsche are testing new steering wheel switches to cover these functions and they will probably feature on the paddle equipped steering wheel in the future.

If that was the same Mark I had the pleasure of sitting next to for 3 hours in the turbo then I couldn't agree more!
And I agree with you about Millbrook alpine, but overall the facility at Silverstone is much more pleasing.

I attended today with Paul and the 997 trully is an awesome car.
However sitting in the back of the Panamera whilst the instructor rags it round the track was not too good for the stomach.
Bit of saving to do to get my next porsche i fear.

You raised some points I forgot to mention..[]
The steering wheel was one of the points and pleased I'm not the only one to notice how much thicker it was- I also felt the steering feel was heavier? but that could obviously be down to tyre pressures etc..
I mentioned Millbrook to my instructor, he didn't argue that Millbrook had the edge on some points, however very often they would find themselves competing for space on the Alpine circuit with artics and the likes [], Silverstone certainly doesn't have that issue...
Silverstone also shows the car off much better I think.
One things for sure, I'm looking forward to the return on the 13th Feb [8D] and even the modern cars day
Well doen on picking the brains of the 911 Turbo man, I had the Cayman man??
