Turnover

OK guys so where when and how. Bearing in mind what I think people are saying is that some level of swapping around is what's going to go on(those who are in agreement to do so that is), this really only is going to be possible on an airfield type venue. So brunters, North weald and millbrook are what come immediately to mind(bedford is also a possible but it's still possible to hit things there!!!). Anyone have any idea's??? And even better some contacts to make it happen???
I think what we're looking at is a "handling day" with the chance to do a concentric circles type test and maybe a makeshift course.????????????????????????

I'm in for this, sounds like a lot of fun. Can't we wave this idea under the nose of Total 911, GT PP etc and they can organise and get an interesting story out of it.

Between we should be able to manage various states of tune from std upwards for both cars. Don't the Total 911 guys post on one of the forums?

Is anyone out there listening ............

......................................................and spend any change on Motec.
I have wanted to Motec my car for a long time and now you are offering to do it for " change", can I book it in? At the moment it seems I have £2.76 change in my pocket. Will that do?[:D]

On a slightly more serious note, I am puzzled by your conclusion that if you have £50k to spend it on a 993 RS CS. After your comment about "the 964RS is the most complete track day car that Porsche have ever and will ever build" and all the other things you say, it seems to me that the only thing going for the 993RS is its gearbox.

I believe a 964 Cup Car came 17th in the last 24 Hours at the Nurburgring -not bad for a 13 year old car, eh?

RS Day -yes please!!

Colin -are u organising another RS Oulton day next March with Tim??

I think you have taken this the wrong way. I was just pointing out to Colin that his (very good) thoughts didn't quite seem to hang together as the main positive he posted was about the gearbox while at the same time he stated, money considerations aside, he would go for the 993RS CS. That suggests that there is more than just the gearbox to its advantage that he hasn't posted.

(Anyway, at least it got a bite from a 993RS owner and after all, baiting them is almost as good sport as beating them on the track [;)][:D])

And bigger wheels, bigger brakes, more grip, and a better chassis to handle extra power.

Sorry, Lee, but I think the quote was

"Bigger wheels, bigger brakes, softer chassis, extra 100kg and a 3.8 engine that struggles to make 300bhp in most cases"
[:D]

I'm the one jimmyslr referred to - 993RS and Caterham Fireblade.

I've driven a few 964RS's on track, and whilst they are awesome, fantastic noise (nicer than 993) and great steering feel, I prefer my 993RS. I know it feels lighter on the steering than the 964, but it is more stable under braking and through the corners. It's difficult comparing cars on track days, because most of the speed is down to the driver rather than car, but it's fair to say that the 993RS when well driven is a *very* fast car!

I'd be up for a comparative day, but let's make it at a circuit - Bruntingthorpe is a dreadful place and destroys nice soft Cup tyres! Bedford would be the obvious place, and RMA will be doing a load of cheap days over the winter for £100 or so.

Which moves me on to the Caterham. Only 130bhp from a Honda Fireblade motorbike engine, and I was keeping up, over a whole lap, with a 993GT2 at Silverstone a few weeks ago. No speed on the straights, but no need to brake and lots of speed through the corners - so much fun! Clearly goes to demonstrate than power etc is not the only route to ultimate enjoyment! The car weighs only 402kg.

Good thread... now where's Rocket (993RS) when you need him?......

Come on Zubin , ready for embarrassment wat colour was the GT2 ?? btw cant get my rs on at Bedford noise ?????

Mine won't make the noise limit at Bedford either. In fact, this whole noise limit thing has stopped me getting the car on the track this year. I need to do something about it.[:(]

Sorry Vic, that would be telling! It was a well driven car, it's just that I hardly needed to brake at all so all that distance gained in front of me on the straights was recovered within a couple of corners. Coming to the Ring in Nov?

So you keep saying, Mel[;)]. But while I know you don't think it makes a big difference, everything I read or have been told suggests that it will have a noticable effect on torque and top end power[:(] I have been saving the pennies annd trying to find the time to get Hayward and Scott to make me a new rear system which we believe will both bring noise levels down to acceptable limits and improve the flow over what I have at the moment.
