I like the same brand all round too, but I wouldn't use the Toyos to save a few quid or to satisfy my OCD.

Fair enough. Anyway ordered 2 new Toyo's for the rear from Camskill. £173 delivered. Keeps the 4 corners the same and I'm used to them. I've noticed they have a C wet rating versus B for the Conti's so not much in it and nearly half the price.

Oddly in the 195/45-16 size they have an E wet rating. I'm buying front tyres for my daughters car, and with winter coming that didn't fill me with confidence. So I've ordered Falkens for the same money that have an A wet rating.

Hi all,
I did replace the Goodreads with the p7 on the rear, very compliant if a bit noisy. I'm running Avons on the front, and will replace these with the p7's before the winter.

I've got a little Hasegawa 1:24 model of a 944T, currently building the fiddly thing! It was made in 1986 and I noticed last night it has Pirelli P7 Cinturato's on it! Old tech indeed! They were possibly the factory tyre back in 1985/86.

The P7 was a top tyre back then. I only had them on my Injection Capri because the 280 Brooklands came on them, and I bought a set of 280 15" wheels. Now I'd expect something like a Michelin PS to be superior.

Thanks Pete.
I've gone with Michelin Pilot Sport 4s all round. £458 plus a £40 Mastercard rebate at ProTyre.
My friend has these on his M5 and rates them. I'll let you know how I get on.

Worth keeping an eye out on www.blackcircles.com

I just bought a set of four Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres last week for my sons car and we used a voucher code off their site which gave us 15% off [8D]
Ordered them to be fitted at my preferred tyre place very close to home.

Michelin offer is still active as of today

Update all.

I fitted the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s all round today. What a massive difference. I'm really impressed by the levels of grip that the S2 now has. No more understeer and oversteer only when I want it. I would thoroughly recommend these to anyone replacing their tyres. £458 fitted from ProTyre in Guildford.

I've also gone back to the factory spec 225/50/16s and 205/55/16s which suits the car much better than the 245s I had originally on the rear.

Pete

My S2 is on 16" and I've had two sets of Bridgestones that were satisfactory. At the latest renewal they were either not both available or had become too expensive so I looked at other makes on Black Circles. Because of their commitment to motor sport I ordered Avons, reasonable price and good wet grip figures. When they arrived they were branded Cooper (the US owners of Avon now) but they are just fine and dry grip on a recent session at Prescott Hill Climb was much better than the 8 year old Bridgestones...
Ref the branding, the issue of who owns what in the tyre business has got a bit complicated...

Yes, the number of options for 15" wheels seems to be diminishing, and finding both front and rear sizes of the same tyre, well, I couldn't find any either. This may be controversial, but discussion with a garage owner recently suggested that as long as the tyres are a decent quality (A name you've heard of..) and the tread patterns are very similar, mixing makes front to rear is not a terrible idea. NEVER mix on the same axle, of course. It looks like this may be your only option other than sourcing some 16" wheels, but that can be a minefield too because the different diameter 944 wheels also have very different offsets, so aren't interchangeable without other measures. Someone with more knowledge of wheel sizes will maybe turn up with a better solution though....

Hi, these are Non standard sizes (Smaller Diameter) what rims and widths are they front & Rear?
R

The car is on the optional Fuchs wheels - 15 inch rims (not sure of the widths) and it sits nicely on those tyres - unfortunately they are out of date, and not viable for a planned trip to an event in Greece in September.
I’m thinking of widening my search criteria to include 205/60/15 and 225/55/15… but 15” seems to be the issue here - i would welcome any suggestios
