Hello All
Reading with interest the posts above. I have owned a 3.2 Targa Nov 88 for the last 28 years and had so much fun out of it. Its in for refurbishment now and due out in 4 to 6 weeks.....
I need a couple of items if anyone can point me in the right direction. Screw cap type oil tank. Mine is like a colander now the muck is cleaned off. Funny as it was fine up till then!! I might also need to have a temporary donor Targa top for a weekend to get my car to the trimmers as my top is completely stripped down due to a broken N/S lateral frame section. I definitely do not want to rely on the vagaries of the British weather! I dont know if anyone has an old spare lying around that i might borrow for a suitable fee? Any assistance or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I thought that stainless was used from 86 because the tanks were rusting from inside and causing blockages .Mine is a 87 and definitely st/st

Hello.

I am new to both the forum and the Porsche Car Owners club.

I have just inherited and purchased a 911 3.2 1987 44k Miles in very good condition. The insurance valued the car at 35k. I'm hoping to get the car to concourse level, although everything is original bar the new oil tank and pipes.

Do you have suggestions that a new valuation is required?

Stephen Higgins

If it's a G50 Coupe then, subject to condition/colour/history, you could be looking at £50-70k for insurance purposes (replacement value). The low mileage is a key factor.

More info and pics would help.

G50? (Just read that it must be a G50 as the R on the gearstick is next to 1st)

Very Good Condition, Red, Full service history but needed a little TLC as it was laid up in my father garage for 3 years without being drained, hence the need for new oil pipes and tank.

I posted a picture in my profile.

Welcome Stephen to the bright side of owning a Porsche and yes the value is low especially for such a low mileage

The value is what it would cost to replace the car so all aspects of the car are to be considered and your insurer will require an appraisal by an assessor who knows our cars.
The club does this for free (slow and low) but there are a few who really know what they are talking about and are accepted by the most used insures ie Locktons

Porsche guru, runs the Impact Bumpers forum, owns the online Ferdinand Magazine, is respected by the insurance companies and most important of all, knows the market inside out. Cost of valuation, £35 but it's quick, realistic and worth every penny.
The club valuations tend to be very slow and very, very, wide of the mark

Wel done Paul - but you three could've parked the cars straight for the promo shot in PP! OCD? Me? Never!
