what did you do to your 944 today

Well,I finally got the water pump off the Grey 924S after having to buy an even longer breaker bar & still using a 9" box spanner to lengthen it further-the crankshaft bolt was certainly tight-thanks to my son Nick at the breaker end & me underneath hoping & trying to make sure the piece of 20 X 3 steel, flat jammed in the starter ring stayed there. After that we retimed his new toy -an Enso -Mx5 lookalike

need the rear quarter repainting, Strange I'm allmost happy as there was a tiny mark in the paint that I was never happy with, but not worth doing anything about........now I have the excuse[:D]

Removed the windscreen wiper arms and sprayed them gloss black (I didn't have any matt black paint.) They look much better now, but I didn't clean them up as well as I could have done before spraying them so they aren't perfect. And I also chipped one of them putting the wiper back on it. [X(] Also removed the rear wiper (took less than 5 minutes!) and fitted my 57p rear wiper hole bung that had been sprayed black at the same time as the wipers.

And, if I can put in a retrospective entry from last weekend ... took the carpets out, scrubbed them all with a stiff scrubbing brush with some soda crystals in hot water, jetwashed them off and re-fitted them. Didn't take photos but they look a whole load better! Oli.

LOL - every cloud! [:D]

30 years or so ago my mate put his XR2 into a tree, smack in the middle of the front of the car, when the dust settled, and as we weren't far from home, he put it into reverse and promptly hit a lamppost!

A few years back I went to meet some friends at an Italian restaurant with a big outdoor seating area. It was a sunny summers evening so I took my 355 Spider, with the roof down. Reversed up to the restaurant, Tubi exhaust blaring away. But I didn't notice the metal bollard, so smacked into it really quite hard. And a new bumper for one of those is a couple of grand. An expensive and embarrassing evening. Nothing to add about the 944.

A very nice drive to visit friends in their new home in kent. Haven't driven her for a few of weeks. Started right away in a couple of seconds. The recent new battery has made a world of difference compared to the previous slightly agricultural feel to starting. On a side note, my friends seven year old daughter fit perfectly in the rear seats! Her dad always had to site sideways

Complete colour change from bright pink to reddish pink today - my yearly polish. Tried to fit the new hatch lock grommet which is pre-vaselined and ready to go, but the b*stard original wont come out in pieces any parger then a match head and the locking ring is now left inside. Cock. I will fit the new sun visor clips tomorrow and hopefully this success will give me an enormous feeling of well-being.

Replaced broken rear hatch cable; spent a lot of time in adjusting the actuating rods, hatch alignment, cable adjustment a la Official Manual. Well worth the effort to get clean opening / closing. OPC Cambridge superb on parts as usual; about £12 for the cable which isn't bad as it has various gubbins on it. Then I broke one of the little plastic retaining clips. So I had to go back to OPC for one, plus a couple of spares, plus a couple of the locking washers. All delivered in little labelled bags, with an invoice etc, for the princely total sum of £0.79 for all 5 bits. Big cool air-conditioned showroom full of massive and complex new machinery, suited sales guys, and there's the receptionist saying "That will be seventy nine pence please sir". Receptionists surrounded by highly expensive metal saying how really nice my 944 looked, gleaming in the sun (in the Director's space right outside the front of course).

I wondered whose car that was in my space! (I had to park elsewhere ... ) [] Oli.
