what did you do to your 944 today

Because you cant ever have too many seats(!), I bought a full set of early sports seat (Tombstones) trim. I now have two sets of original pattern sports seats and should look at selling the uncovered pair, but probably wont. I am tempted to fit them in my Turbo (possible with seatbelts with some subframe trickery) leaving the original black script rear in place, as theyre extremely light and brilliant in every way.

Sorted a hybrid turbo and some other little goodies through Tom at Augment Automotive. Highly recommended for great service. Unfortunately I can't say the same for another specialist that is highly regarded on this forum.

Darryl - would you start a specific thread please? I'm interested in maybe going down this route next year but would like the benefit of someone else's experience too. Thanks,

Yeah I'll put one when its all in and running. Currently sorting bits in drips and drabs at the moment. Should be altogether in the next month or so [:)]

Yep.......you guessed it. I get there and no-one is home, I pop to my sisters around the corner in case she has a key, she is not at home. I contemplate the situation for a bit, and then they all appear together! I get the oil filter wrench, say my goodyes and drive home. Except I didn't. I broke down a bit further down the road, without my mobile phone!! What it made it worse, is my dad had done almost exactly the same thing the day before with my brothers Saab, I should have know better!! Just so has it he was on his way out again and passed me!! A quick bridge of the DME relay and I was back on the road, and back to finish my oil service! Have checked the relay out today, contacts all good, solder joints all good. Primary coil seems to have high resistance, (270k iirc) so I suspect the resistor that is in parallel has failed - the secondary coil measures 70ohm and pulls in fine. I started to remove the coil assembly to get to said resistor, but our small iron is struggling to keep it hot enough to get coil assembly out. Phone up Porsche, they have one of the shelf, but £62 - no thanks!! ECP it was for less than half that!!

Had a go at detailing. Got as far as giving it a snowfoam bath with some AF Avalanche. Didn't get much in the way of an avalanche of snowfoam so need to get a different lance I think but none the less it came up pretty good afterwards. Practiced using the clay bar on the wife's C-MAX and blimey [:)] what a difference that made to the bonnet. Once I'm happy I know what I'm doing (and haven't damaged the C-MAX first) I'll be having a proper go at the Porker. Will post some pics if I remember to take some.

For the second time in my life I became 944 less :(. There are mixed emotions about this one for sure. However this time the ownership was superb with very little in terms of drama, especially with an Ex-ProMax car. I guess I always fancy trying different cars (as some of you may well know) and I may just take a break from retros for the timebeing. One thing is for sure! I shall not be forgetting this brief stint of ownership at a 944. I am sure I will be back one of the days (if not still lurking if I am still welcome!).

Sad times Chas [:(] Hopefully you will stick around the Porsche forums? I didn't notice the car advertised anywhere though?? As said before, sure you had good reason to sell, as you seem to be selling up all of your retros - good luck with whatever comes next [:)]

Treated RB to a new cover for the winter, see how well this one fares, three covers in less than four years they don't like the summer sun[:'(]

In all honesty I told a few chaps I knew that I may be getting rid a few months ago when there were employment issues (and changes later for the better) for me. I came very close to not selling it when push came to shove (as said my circumstances seem to have changed for the better) but I also do fancy a change on a couple of other motors before I do sell the lot and buy something a little bigger and not quite car based :). Whilst it may be less stressful (not that owning the Turbo ever was that!) it is certainly easier to manage 1 car over many! I suspect I may be lurking and may by chance come back into the fold at a later date :).

I spent Wednesday at the Prescott Hillclimb School. Had an absolutely superb day, loads of fun and I learned a huge amount. By the end of the day I was infinitely better than I was at the start. I'll be back there next year for sure.

This morning I changed the oil & filter on my Turbo - Total Quartz Racing 10w50, will be interesting to see what consumption and hot oil pressure is like. Yesterday things were not so good for my S. I had booked it in for early MOT so that I could sell with 12 months and some peace of mind for myself, as well as prospective buyer. Sadly it failed on nearside rear will, with advisories for offside rear will & lower steering joint. I must say, I was shocked. I didn't collect it and have yet to look (currently chucking it down!), I knew it had a couple of small blisters, but when recently up on a ramp it looked very clean and received the same comments from the other guys in the workshop. Maybe I have missed something and will have a good look once the rain stops, but I neither have the time or dry space to repair myself, so have to weigh up getting it repaired and re-advertising, or selling as is at a reduced price.

Had chance to have a look under the car yesterday, it's certainly a lot better than some 944's you see on the road, but can't deny the fact he has prodded a hole through the sill. It is a bit of hassle, but I am glad I booked it in as I would have sold it unknowingly, and come December, the new owner would have got a shock! I was right in that last time I looked underneath it was pretty good, I assumed he was talking about the inner rear sill area, but he has actually poked a hole through the bottom of the outer sill, where the sill folds up, then down again to meet intermediate panel. It's not too bad really... They are still interested though, which is good, I basically said I would get the car repaired (I have no time to do it myself at the mo) but my original asking price would be firm, or I would sell as is, knocking £1k off to get it repaired as the prospective buyer wished. I've had a chat with a friend of mine who runs a Porsche/VAG specialist, and he said he will be able to do the work for me at a reasonable rate if necessary (he owes me a few favours ;) ) - so hopefully it will work out one way or another. The guy that was interested was due to come to have a look today, but has rearranged for next weekend now.

I finished reassembling my centre console after having it trimmed with the eBay TopGaiters leather trim - I also added their matching gear gaiter to replace the standard black one (which I got from them last year). I also fitted a new boost gauge as the old one was a bit temperamental and I fitted the Apexi AVC-R control unit (although it's not wired up yet):

Today I replaced the fuel return flexi with braided Teflon hose so no engine BBQs for me:
