what did you do to your 944 today

Bought a GRP bonnet and a set of aero catches. Also managed to score a new alloy jack and a spare window switch...

It shall be good to see an influx of these period tax discs! That is some rotten luck with the Andy! Hopefully you shall arrive with a good solution to the issue, whatever it is :).

Yesterday I started on a few little jobs that needed sorting with the winter coming. First up, heated rear screen. One of the tabs fell off the rear screen and needed soldering on. I thought with a small gas torch and a cold day I might be struggling to get enough heat into it, but in actual fact, with both parts well tinned it soldered up nice & easilly. Not as tidy as factory, but a good connection all the same.. 20141027_121121 by Hallsy01, on Flickr Went to connect it back up, but the link wire to the hatch strut had also seen better days!! 20141027_172055 by Hallsy01, on Flickr So that had to be sorted......much better: 20141027_181610 by Hallsy01, on Flickr Tested it out last night - I now have a fully functional rear demister again!! Now I need to sort the interior heating (only blows how on demist setting - guessing this could be faulty interior temp sensor), rear wiper, rear hatch struts and hatch lock seals. Got a set of rear hatch struts on order from Beryln, so that will be another little job crossed off!!

Picked it up from the indie with a new master clutch cylinder fitted, drives great so went for a short jaunt to get reacquainted. Just ogled it from the bedroom window and noted it's fogged up [&:]. Will be shifting all the rubbish in the garage about this weekend so I can get it undercover for the winter[:)].

Washer reservoir decided to spring a leak just as winter comes on. Turned out to be the drain plug but as I had removed it anyway, decided to give everything a good clean. Need a new headlamp washer pump though. Just for information, removed it from the top in about 20 minutes once the coil and headlamp motor was out of the way. Just a bit fiddly with the lower mounting bolt. Cheers Paul.

Having read Paul 190H post I decided to remove my washer bottle from the top as he suggested because it had a leak and also the headlamp washer didn't operate. I had been putting it off as I had read that it came out from the bottom and would be a bit of a struggle. It came out relatively easily although the lower mounting bolt sheared off and I found that it wasn't the bottle that leaked, but a piece of pipework had come adrift from a connector. The pipe could be accessed when the fog light was removed (Lux) and once I had connected it back together and replaced the pump the headlamp washer was operational again.

Good job, much easier from the top.

Dropped mine off at Promax on Saturday - it needs new brake and fuel lines plus some new rear discs - they can check for calliper plate lift at the same time just in case... Oh and as well as all that sensible stuff a new upgraded intercooler as well ! [8D]

Modified original or something completely different.

Plan is for one of the Lindsey Racing ones - so essentially a modified original.

Almost finished running in my new engine. A bit more driving tomorrow after sorting a leaky hose then it's going to Tom (Augment Automotive) for mapping Sunday :bounce:

I took the Porsche out for a decent 40 mile run to work this morning. This felt like a monumental achievement considering how long the car has been off the road and the significant baby related changes in my personal life. I've got a few niggles to work through now - mainly electrical. The sun roof has stopped working, the blower fan doesn't work, the engine mounts have clearly collapsed... the list goes on. Old cars don't like to be left standing! Now that the car is a productive contributor to the family (I'll be picking the baby up from nursery in it tomorrow!) I can take the time to get the niggles sorted. I'm looking forward to Rutland now. I've missed the last 2 so I want to make sure I go to the next one.

Jeez the stage 2 one isn't cheap (for a reworked original}

Commenced operation deep clean ... I am so tempted to start dropping all the rear end out for some powder coating and blasting but currently halfway through a classic bike resto so don't want something else in bits. I will be taking all the sill extensions, arch liners and PU off though and the sills will get yet another dose of Dinitrol. Some drive them, some clean them, but we all love them and enjoy them in our own way.

Just for your amusement below are a couple of my 1983 Kawasaki Z1000R Lawson that I am restoring from the frame up.

I've had some really loud wind noise coming in around the windscreen at anything above 50mph for a while now so finally took some time to reseal the windscreen then had a fast run up to Costco. What a difference, the noise is now completely gone and I got the usual looks from people next to me in the car park who were obviously thinking that full trolley load isn't going in there! Just love how practical this car is for daily use.

Hmmm today I checked out the structural integrity of the wing mirror whilst travelling up an embankment on my side, thankfully it passed said test.
