what did you do to your 944 today

The car looks lovely, can I ask where you get the clear indicators from. They certainly give a more modern look. Thanks Wayne

From here http://www.protocast.co.uk/ Im trying to get hold of the guy at the moment as I want a pair of his clear fog light lenses but he has not come back to me yet.

Yesterday I replaced the the engine mounts. The driver's side is a pig! The car drives much better. The more stuff I do, the more confidence I have in pushing it towards the limit. Wheel refurb and minor body maladies next!

Simon eventually you will have done enough to sell it and get yourself a proper 944 [;)]

ORIGINAL: Fat Albert I bought a new Frontrunner today, hope to pick her up in the next couple of days...
Are you purposefully building the suspense until your moment of the big reveal! My money is on your cryptic comment hinting at a 968 - have you really gone over to their side, we'll miss you on this forum, as they will over there as there only seems to be a post about once a week! I've never been too sure why we don't have more cross pollination. Who is going to raise the high mileage flag now?

Exhaust system fitted to the 220 after a fight, electric sunroof switch was not the fix for my roof [:(] wrong side motor sent from the breakers for my drivers window [:(] the drop link on the drivers handle is proving impossible to fit the lock ball joint to the drop link [:(] There may be a 220 in Harrington Marina tomorrow, really trying me now ! Should have been cutting the grass and taking the kids for an ice cream somewhere rsather than fighting for 8 hours...............not happy []

Bad day mate. I feel your pain [:(] We all have em though. In fact I am having a bad month. Removing 25 year old engine bits has been a constant fight. Add to that the constant rain and I am massively behind schedule. Just want to drive the old girl again. Especially with a rejuvinated engine. Hope you are sinking something to help you forget?

Rob, the short wastegate to exhaust dump pipe had been welded but not quite correctly so only 2 holes lined up, drilled them out to 10 mm to give some play, still fiddly, the door drop link is a Bas*** i need a finger + 25 mm to manage it, plus stripping the window mech to find the replacement is wrong put the icing on the cake ! You can spin turn the motor through 180 degrees though and sort the wiring plug to suit correct operation. Fed up as what should be a few simple jobs have all turned out to be a mission, er indoors was not to suited as i choose to lie under the car for 8 hours on a bank holiday, i just want it sorted ! And yes Leopards Leap South African Cab Sav after a shower and some scran [:D]

Chin up guys you'll get there in the end, hell you'll certainly get there before me. Oh and Frenchy, don't be to hard on the old girl, she's an 86 and worth every second of pain and dissappointment to get her sorted, it's not a myth that 86 is the best vintage, it's a fact mate...:) Pete

Try a couple of long but decent sized flat screwdrivers on the ball joint for the door handle. Try and lever the ball into the socket.

Cheers Pete, TBH She does look lovely sitting on the top of the drive and has been preety good until recently, but has disgraced with a number of problems, i managed to shear 4 studs on the wastegate but had a resprung 18 psi wastgate sitting in the garage so she has had that fitted, never really gunned it but it pulls like a train,Lindsey chips, 3 bar FPR, Bailey DV fitted, relying on a boost enhancer at the moment to limit boost but that will be sorted, i have an aftermarket VDO boost gauge fitted to keep an eye on things. I do have the Turbo S in reserve though for a fix[:D]

Rob, Frenchy, I hope you get sorted soon Yes, I have sold my 944 to Simon and I have gone over to the slightly darker side of a 968 Sport, hopefully we can perform the switcheroo over the next couple of days. Glad my old Girl is going to someone who can give her the proper care and attention, she deserves it after the 3 years solid service she has given me. My new one is a whipper-snapper at a mere 99,000 miles! I will still be lurking around on this forum, firstly to keep an eye on my old girl's progress, secondly to chip in with my 'When I had a 944...' opinions and lastly as you say it is the most lively forum where a very broad church of taste, mechanical ability and aspiration is catered for, respected and encouraged, probably the most tolerant forum I frequent

Nice one Jeremy. 99k miles will feel like a new car by comparison to your galactic turbo :) what made you go for the 968, I thought you were looking for a 928? Looking forward to the pics and I hope that this one is also in the fastest colour? Cheers Andy

Well today I went and got a new battery some spark plugs and some cleaning stuff to get it all shiny tomorrow when it stops raining
