what did you do to your 944 today

ORIGINAL: Diver944 Surely you should have done your cam tower in red [:D] Looks great in black anyway Peter, what sort of timescale do you think until it's all completed.
Longer than I would like Paul, house is being fully renovated at the same time so money is tight, plus I keep finding new bits to buy. Latest decision is to include a crank scrapper having read up on 944 bearing failures with No2 conrod being a well know failure point due to the oil getting to much air in from the mass turned by the crank. Certainly after stripping my engine down No2 rod bearing was knacked to say the least, oh and this is a common problem on any 944 engine, modified or not. Beware guys especially those who do track days, you have been warned. Oh and I prefer black too....:) Pete

Nice cam cover[:D] pick up my wheels from the polishers

+1 on the wheels. Today mine's been treated to an oil change, give Millers a go, new filters and plugs, and Swepco in the gearbox.

ORIGINAL: Frenchy Nah, Black looks nice, i will have that exhaust when you are finished with it Pete, Fish and Chips anyone ?[:)]
I'll try to remember this Jim when I've finished with the exhaust, you may need to prompt me when I mention upgrading as my memory seems to be getting worse in my old age..:( Regards Pete

Pete, mine is shot ! i put it down to Red Wine abuse [:)] get it sorted for 2014 as you are coming to the LM Classic with us, it really is a must do, taking the 220 after recent Frenchy Sevice and a good once over, another hoover and layer of wax to be applied before the off, the 220 now has chips, 3 bar FPR, and resprung wastegate so is a little perkier, nothing compared to yours of course but my plan was to keep it standard...............all the best made plans.....you know the rest [;)]

That's a date... have a great time over there, I always do, hey I even persuaded SWMBO to go one year. She enjoyed the evening meals out and the fun at Arnage but don't think I'll get her to go again, to many cars whizzing around for her....:) Car sounds great btw so I know you'll enjoy the drive down , have fun mate.. Pete

Not so much what I've done but worth a mention anyway..... new bottom end gasket set from my children for father's day. So once I get the crank scrapper from LR I can start the bottom end rebuild, I'll start a separate build thread once I get going along with a little history of work to date which I'll warn everyone now may be a long one. Pete

Took mine to the Bedfordshire classic motor show at Woburn today. Thought I'd park it on display rather than in the car park and ended up getting 3rd in class in the concours competition. Needless to say I was very surprised. Was beaten by a lovely Audi Quattro and a slightly less lovely, although very good condition Ford cortina!

Graet stuff Stuk! I am thinking of doing similar at the Gransden Children in Need airshow, the cars on display get a much better view of the flightline and a shorter walk to the burger van than the great unwashed, and they had a couple of 944s and a 968 there last year

Excellent! Are you bringing it to Chateau Impney? [:)]

I checked the oil and other fluids and all okay. The best bit is I found the 'mouse' squeak in the dashboard....but it wasn't in the dashboard! The rear corner of the bonnet was very slightly and intermittently rubbing the water run it sits in and making the squeak. A bit of grease and a 'tap' with and hammer and the 'mouse' has gone.

Put the original orange front indicator lenses back on. After driving around with clear ones on for a while I've decided I prefer the traditional look.

Heard that the rear suspension mounts aren't going to be as horrendous as first thought to repair. Many hundreds, not many thousands! [8|] Current waiting time from the expert repairer? One monh minimum. [&o] Might be one more place for a display car in August......I can't see me having it back by then!
