I'll go next. I was an IT project manager but left that field 4-5 years ago. I now own and run a group of nursing homes for the elderly. 3 of them specialise in Dementia care. They're based in the midlands and one is in the south. Which is why I spend a lot of my time on the motorway. If it's care for the elderly you want to know about, I'm your man.

I retired from work nearly 8 years ago, I was a mechanical engineer at a large northern nuclear site, I'm afraid the govt won't let me tell you any more than that [:D]

Here's one for all you fellow 944 ists out there. What do you do during the day in order to be able to fund your hobby. It might be interesting to see what we all do for a day job, you never know there might even be opportunities between us that we never knew existed. Ie skill sets that would be useful for advice etc.

I'll start

I work for a large food service company who supply food to restaurants, hotels ,schools, government depts etc. I look after the fresh meat side of our business in Scotland. If anyone ever needs help or advice in buying meat then I'm your guy.

I like to think of myself as being retired but in all honesty, it's probably more accurate to say that I'm taking a sabbatical while my wife undertakes an International assignment here in Sweden. When I was working, I spent my entire career in the supplier base for the automotive industry. First as an applications engineer for a company who supplied coupled hose systems mainly to Ford. Then many years as UK sales manager for Pirelli OE supplying tyres to Aston Martin, Bentley, Lotus, Jaguar, Land Rover and Mclaren. Lattery I worked for Exide supplying batteries to Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo and a string of others. If you want to know anything about coupled hose systems, tyres or batteries, I'm your man. Before anyone asks, yes I did get them cheap. No I don't get them cheap anymore.[;)]

Senior mechanical engineer. Primarily involved in design, the "Senior" bit just means I'm old. If you want anything screwed up, I'm your man.

I am an PLM/IT/Product Configuration/CAD systems engineer. I have worked in the train industry for 5 years and will quit my current employer in a few weeks because of political considerations affecting my work to a level I consider no longer acceptable. I am searching for opportunities in the automotive industry, which is where I originally come from, but will consider any direction that would take me far from the obscurantism/sovietism sometimes observed in big corporations.

Good idea. I am self employed as a Proposal Manager and Writer, and Business Development Consultant. If anyone needs any help with managing or writing proposal responses, or the development of business strategy, competitor analysis etc then please let me know. I am experienced in the defence, rail, energy from waste and support service sectors. My profile is on LinkedIn.

I've had a twist, in that my hobby has now become my living (shameless plug time![:D]) I was made redundant at the end of May, so as of 1st June this is me! http://www.yesterdayscars.co.uk/ https://www.facebook.com/yesterdayscars So far I'm loving it, although struggling to get time to do needed work on my own cars. I've been keeping an eye out for 944's to bring in to the business but nothing has suited as yet. I have a unit next to these guys - http://www.raceglaze.co.uk/ - and the owner drives a 944 Turbo that he's owned for years. It's making me miss my Turbo even more. I will be behind the wheel of one as soon as I can, be it for the business or preferably for my own pleasure! I was going to have a bid on one at an auction a few weeks back. It was actually one of the first 944's I ever viewed about 4-5 years ago and I very nearly bought it. This is the one - http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auctions/results/results-saturday-14th-june-2014/1986-porsche-944-turbo/ However, sills and wing bottoms need attention and from memory it's done no miles since I viewed it so I think it was too pricey for the work required - belts were squealing like a good-un too! Anyway, I'm living the dream (as long as I can make some money) and am still dreaming of getting behind the wheel of a 944 again [;)]

I work as a Pharmacist both background contract stuff and also hands on dispensing, so if you need any advice on DRUGS.... I'm your man !

Contracts Manager for Heating & Ventilating building services Co. based in London travelling in from Colchester daily. Used to have my own Plumbing & Heating Co. but gave it all up because I was tired of spending all my time on my knees, that's doing the work and then begging for payment!! Now I get up at silly o'clock, go to bed at silly o'clock for silly money!! [:D] Hey ho only 17 years to go.....................

This is an interesting thread.. what a diverse bunch we are...:) Ok for me.. putting aside that health has forced me to slow down a lot in recent years I still do the odd job and advise when asked for help. So what do i do?... I'm a visual effects technician or that's the closet description for the tax office to understand...sounds grand but it involves many sides of the film/TV industry.... My credits on the big screen are numerous, from senior model maker..SFX tech, Model engineer, construction, production buyer to Art Director. I have worked on many of the big name films from Harry Potter to Bond, I love the job... everything I make is a prototype that has to work first time with very little to zero R&D time.. have to work fast and accurate and each job is different to the last which for me means I never get bored. Pete

Outta interest, does this extend to any (new) drugs specifically related to metastatic prostate Ca?

I remember when this was discussed back in the Titanic forum days. It seemed almost all 944 owners were engineers, played the guitar and owned a boat! I'm a gardener. That's why I make hundreds of posts here on wet days, but hardly any at this time of year. [&:] I'm also a (bad) guitarist, and used to have a little rowing boat. [:D]

For the last 20 or so years I have run a paint manufacturing company. We only make one colour (brown), and it only comes in one size (1 lt.)!! It's good stuff though. If you go the Facebook page you'll get the idea. www.facebook.com/antifoul
