Software/Systems Engineering subcontractor, mostly in the Defence industry these days but have dabbled a bit with railway automated protection systems in the past. Started up north in the Nuclear industry but moved on about 14 years ago now when it looked pretty dead.

I am a practical goldsmith and jeweller, with my wife we have a small retail shop in Hull where I make and repair jewellery. If your want your broken jewellery repairing or a bespoke piece making (at northern prices [:)]) then I'm your man. www.johnfearnley.co.uk

Please forgive my ignorance but how on earth do you make any money doing that? Surely every picture of every known piece of wildlife is freely available to anyone who cares to browse google images?

I know of Art Wolfe, but we don't represent him directly. We do represent some really good photographers - I don't know if "normal" people would have heard of them though!

You're right to some extent - there are a lot of free images available, and we're having to work a bit harder / accept lower fees in some areas. But commercial clients will still pay for top quality images rather than stealing one off Google images, or even over paying for a cheap microstock image... Plus the ones on google tend to be lower resolutions, so you can't use them at a big size. And it's getting easier to track down people who steal images and use them without paying, so that might be discouraging theft a bit.

They call me a dust monkey. But I say I'm a stonemason and have been for 15years. I used to do more conservation. And worked on some very prestigious jobs Nowadays I'm more in to new build homes and mansions

Run a small company installing and maintaining Navigation Beacons for aircraft to navigate by ILS/TACAN/DVOR/DME and occasionally NDB. Have worked worldwide in the past but now mostly UK, (plus Cyprus, Gibraltar and the Falkland islands). Its a mix of electrical and mechanical work and we pride oursleves on the quality of our installations. But it is not giving me enough time to play with 944s at the moment :( Tony

Broadcast Engineer with 30 years + now, I have worked in all the major UK networks over the years, Hey writing this has made me think how time goes so quickly.... And "nope" I do not do Wedding video's [:)]

Operations engineer in a nuclear power station. Job involves control room duties (think Homer Simpson) and periods in the safety document office isolating the plant for people to work on. Always worked in power stations and started as an electrical apprentice back in the 70's. Always tinkered with oily bits starting with Escorts back in the glory days.
