WUF for sale?

Well I don't know who saw it coming and I don't want any I told you so comments either! I've tried, really I have but I just can't seem to keep my fickle car enthusiasts mind at bay. I don't know what it is, perhaps I have just finally had one too many? The 944 experience (and WUF is about as much of a 944 experience as you can get) just isn't for me anymore.

It was only a matter of time and after several thousand hours of classified browsing I have now found a car I want so badly that I am prepared to sell everything to get it.

I've thought about keeping the 944 and sticking it in storage but I think that would be a terrible shame and mistake as these cars hate being stored. So slight reality push, I am in fact a University student after all and I really don't have the space or income to have two totally ridiculous cars. Even with my Piston head on I can only justify the one.

So it's coming up to summer time, everything is finally working well and it's the perfect time to sell. The car will come with more paperwork than you have every seen with a car, it has only done 1000 miles since full service and cambelt change etc and I will happily put 12 months tax and MOT on the car before anyone picks it up (it has mot till June at the moment)

Details can be found here:

And for the original build (with infinate photos + huge running blog):

If you are interested. Call me and I will discuss because you may be surprised by the price. I'm not out to wait 6 months for the right buyer so I'm willing to be reasonable to make someone a happy buyer and my borrowed garage empty!

At least give me the pleasure of surprising you. I'll post when I've got it as I'm sure that will end up being before I've got rid of WUF anyway.

So, what have you found? [:)]

I think the Pistonheads advert might give it away! Unless it is a cruel ruse by Ben. Well Ben, it can never be said that you're not a person who doesn't act on impulse! As least if the hint in the Pistonheads advert is true then at least you're giving her up for a worthy car - and if that car doesn't satisfy your need for performance then It is definitely time to book an appointment with a decent Psychiatrist. I think if it were 18 - 24 months down the line I may have found the perfect car with which to re-enter the 944 world! I just hope she goes to someone who's going to treat it right.

I used one of your earlier pics of the car as my wallpaper - it is just fantastic.

Don't spose you could put those pics up again before it goes

cheers

I'm putting one and one together and getting............[;)]

Ben, good luck with the sale and replacement. WUF is a great bit of tuning on a great car.

Ben, do you have a will in place? If not, and you don't think its necessary, do you mind signing here?

I look after 5 or 6 of these and I can not stress enough... Be very very careful, they can put a grin on your face big enough to break your cheek bones, and yet break your heart (along with every bone in your body) in the same milisecond.

Other than that... Go for it :)

My old man has had one from new (he is 71) Done big miles in it, his has had a Manthey upgrade to 530 ? Hp I think ?with their suspension etc, there is a video somewhere that mr Smith did of me trying to get past him at Silverstone in my race car(very hard to get by!!!...,the power they have is immense,I have done a few miles in it including track days and with no intended exaggeration they really do deserve their nickname....Be careful if you get one and get it inspected(lots have been bent),I was at Selbys repairshop a couple of years ago and they had two in at once and they were not just parking dings...one landed on it's roof if I remember??..the grunt though is nothing short of spectacular!!!Brutal car.Tiring to drive fast, but still my dads favourite car won't get rid of it (yet)
Best of luck!!!
Ps I reckon good ones will be going up in value,a rare car by modern standards...?Good investment.
PPs we are talking about the same car right??? Nick name means -manufacturer of lonely wife with no husband anymore???[:D]

Can he please adopt me? [:D]

My Dad's pretty mad, but anyone who puts proper miles on a GT2 deserves real respect! Great to hear of a car being used as it was designed to be used.

Guessing the one on 911 virgin which looks pretty tidy - I was tempted for a minute, till I remembered I am trying to move to a bigger house with some decent garaging :)

Though Ben could be looking at ultimas :)

All emails responded to. I will ring the shop tomorrow about the badge panel frenchy but consider it yours.

The car I'm currently obsessing over in fact isn't a gt2 but if it turns out to be not quite what I'm hoping for, the GT2 is still very high on my current wish list. I have recently had rather worrying annoymous advice to stick away from this one so I hope that does not lead to anything. I will tread carefully and do the correct checks.

Regards,

Ben

p.p.s I did have a moment of hesitation today. WUF on a sunny day is quite something.

Hesitate some more Ben.
If thinkink 911 GT, go for the MK1 as an investment, trust me !

Mk1 do you mean the gt3 I take it? If gt2 I didn't know there were mk1/mk2 versions. What makes you think this is going to be the one to invest in? Small production numbers? Why would people not choose the mk2 instead if it's supposedly a refined version?

Ok ok the car I'm looking at is a classic 1979 lightweight with a 3.6 993 engine in it. 1000kg 300hp hopefully over engined, extremely raggable and very very raw so I won't need the danger/expense of more power. I feel my un-quenchable power thirst is quickly leading me into speeds that will result in very high running costs and possibly prison time. Perhaps something back to basics with still enough power to light up the rears on demand and keep up with modern machinery when required is just what the doctor ordered?

Either way I will know on sunday.

Had a lovely drive in WUF today though, stopped in a carpark and came back to find a group of people all standing looking at it. Chatted to them a bit, made sure I told them it was for sale and they were very impressed ;-) ..but said they couldn't afford it. Didn't even ask the price :-D quite nice that it gives that appearance.

It'll be back in the classifieds by August then [:D]
