You Drive plus - Now Live for booking[/b]
After the great success of Youdrive last year, I have looked into running another similar event but have been in discussions with the team at Silverstone PDC to make the event this time more focused on the driving and tuition, some comments last time suggested that members would have liked more time driving behind the wheel, I think what has been offered is a great opportunity to do just that, at a cost far below what a one-on-one day would cost normally and with the facilities that the PDC has to offer..The date is this is taking place is Saturday 21st May.

http://www.porsche.com/silverstone/

Below is the suggested format and costing for the day;
Each member would drive their own Porsche on the tracks at the PDC, Each member would have a 1hr 30min session with one-to-one instruction for £195 per person. Each guest would have a choice of start time, 9am, 10:45am or 1:30pm (12 drivers per session) and then lunch (3-courses + drinks) would be optional at £30pp

Hopefully you can see that we've fixed the parts we felt needed fixing [:)]

The one-to-one tuition means that each guest is free to go where they like on all areas of the tracks, rather than having to follow a group format such as the YouDrive@Porsche event. I have requested the maximum of 48 driver slots.
This format means that you can actually choose what you would like to get out of the day in your car.
Whilst this isn't as full on as a full driver training day, it is a great opportunity to have a good session of training and enjoyment at Porsches great facility.
I think as the next level up from youdrive, this is a good cost and benefit.

This is for 997 members but if I cannot fill all the place then I will open it up to others club members and the GT3 register may well be joining us, but I'd like to see the register get first offerings
Please post below if you are interested and I will forward booking details onto you.
*As per post further down, there is some mention that the Ice hill 'may' be unserviceable if the weather goes through a cold spell, I have been assured that the kick plate can simulate muany of the same features.- this is a maybe and just to make you aware at the time of booking.

Bookings are now open direct with the Porsche booking team.
As before members can call the main booking line (08443 573 911) or email (
drivingexperience@porsche.co.uk), they will then manage the bookings, confirmation details and payments.

update* It has now been confirmed that the 3.15 slot has been cancelled to allow setup for the followwing days event.
Apologies to those that did book on that slot, I have had an email back from the centre apologising an saying they will look after those that they have had to move to an alternative slot.

Booked

1 slot remaining at 9am
1 slot remaining at 13.30

Sounds more tailored to our needs than last time! Please put me down for a mid morning slot if possible. Best wishes, Andy

The date will be the 21st May [:)] Porsche Driving Centre are going to do similar as last time and book it direct with those parties interested, however our contact is away until next week[&o], so I'll forward his details onto all those requested, as Andy points out, please select a time you'd like to join. I had a long discussion with the team and Gordon about the pro's and cons of the last event and they were willing and happy to put this together for us... [:D] As rightly said, it is much more tailored to our needs... garyw

Hi Gary, Very interested and have sent you an email. Is there a link to the first day you held so I can see what you did ? Many thanks Stuart

Stuart I've replied to your email and posted the link to the first time we did the event.. Hopefully you'll find the information all informative [:)] garyw

Yes and errr.... There has been some discussions that the Ice hill may be out of action for repair at the time of the event.- very much depending on the weather prior to the date. I have gone back with options that include the date moved to a time that it is working!! They say that many of the functions o the Ice hill can be simulated on the kick plate but my concern is that would then possibly put queues on the kick plate. I'm aware its only 12 cars per session but with say 20% of the facilities not functioning, it should reflect in the cost/time offered. Happy to hear other peoples thoughts on this?? garyw

Hi Gary, It's a win-win in my opinion as either we drive all sections or miss some sections and save some money (or drive for longer). Changing the date is least favorable option for me as I know I can definately make it on 21st May (lots going on this year). Cheers,

I too would vote for sticking with the original date and if they reduce the price all the better (although I think you have already done a great deal). I am heading to Finland on Friday for Camp 4 so the ice hill probably wasnt where i was planning on spending most of my time anyway.

Thank you for the comments and emails... We'll look on the positive side that it may well all be working anyhow and keep the date the same, it'll save any confusion.[;)] I'll speak to the team there tomorrow and try and get the booking line opened up. garyw

Thanks for sorting this out Gary. I have just booked a 3pm slot (if they haven't all gone!) I might finally learn how to drive a Turbo properly - a lot different from my C2S !!
