YouDrive plus 21st May- Live

Thanks Gary, maybe you are right. I did specify a manual with that thinking in mind (I was in Finland at the weekend and all the cars there were PDK's which I was very impressed with) but I may still end up with some nagging Gen 1 -v- Gen 2 doubts. Decisions, decisions....

ORIGINAL: Alex L Just got back from a Silverstone day with the new GTS The kick plate is out of action until at least March (depending on the lawsuits with the original constructors) and thereafter the ice hill will need to be rebuilt. Something about them not being built right in the first place and their surfaces cracking due to winter. Hopefully both will be back in action for you guys in May.
At Silverstone yesterday with the GTS day and the kick plate has been fixed but not recommissioned until this week. Ice hill working atm and as difficult as ever!!

Hi, I own a 996 40th Anniversary and would like to take part in this day. Please let me know & add my name to the list if you do open it up to non 997 owners. Thanks Steve

Steve I'll be talking to the guys at Silverstone next week and will get an updated list and let everyone know the situation.. garyw

I have been informed of the following places/slots are still available at the moment. The places are opened up to the GT3 register later this month and then all club members following after that. This is in order for 997 register members to have the choice prior to the rest of the club.. 9 for the 09:00am session 6 for the 10:45am session 7 for the 13:30pm session 10 for the 15:15pm session garyw

Gary, I'm not sure I'm now going to be able to make this at the moment, hence not booking up yet; don't hold anyone up for me though - if you need to 'release places' I'll just have to take my chances.

Hi Gary and all Just to let you all know that I was bumped off the 3.30 slot yesterday. Apparently PCGB are having a middle years event on the 22nd at the Centre and need to set up in the afternoon. So I've re-booked for the 1.30, which isn't easy for me with other family arrangements. They have offered me a free ride in a Panny/Cayman or Cayenne the next day; or a go in my own car on the kick plate. Woo hoo. Luckily I don't live too far from Silverstone so it's a possibility. But I do feel like a second class citizen - despite booking early because I thought the 3.30 slot was the only one I could do.

Paul, this is the first I have been informed of this!! I completely agree and will chase this up!! I'm disgusted that neither Porsche centre OR the club have said a thing to me!! -

(theres no smilie that looks angry/annoyed enough!!) garyw

update* It has now been confirmed that the 3.15 slot has been cancelled to allow setup for the following days event. Apologies to those that did book on that slot, I have had an email back from the centre apologising an saying they will look after those that they have had to move to an alternative slot. Paul, I'd suggest if you have time to take a lunch [:)] I have not yet had anything from our own club to tell me about them bumping us... garyw

Thanks for the update Gary. I am truly staggered that they didn't contact you first. Love the image. My challenge is two-fold - because of family stuff I will struggle to make it earlier than 1.30; and then the Sunday is also packed with family goings on. I thought a quick sneak out on Sunday early in the morning would be the best way to get some recompense. However, in thinking about it now, it might be better to cram it all into one afternoon (trouble is a "free" lunch isn't because I have to take some of the kids - see above - and that could mean a £60 bill [:(]. Will consult with Michele and make a decision [8|]

Gary How about an update on bookings and remaining availability? Am I, as a poor relative to you 997 guys, able to make a booking now for this jaunt? David

David et al... Bookings for all club members will be open from the end of the month. I will get an updated list and timings frm the silverstone team upon my return next week. Garyw

Gary The end of this month is just 3 weeks prior to the event and you originally posted this on 28 January 2011 - 11 weeks ago. Surely your 997 register members have had time enough to apply - if they wanted to - and you can now fairly agree to open up to the rest of us? What do other 997 folk think? David
