Hey Brett

It sounds a very exciting project and when finished you should take it to a VMAX event, http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=190200&mpage=1&key=VMAX𮛸 and let me know to come and see it....[:D]

I have a silly question though, is this a road going car? if yes how do you explain to your insurance the "slight mods" and then how much are they charging you?

Cheers
[:)]

Hi :)

Yes I will be doing as many VMAX events as possible this year....although there seems to be new noise limits on some....and as my car is 155 to 122 db at the moment (thats WITHOUT my new bigger Nitrous system) ,,,I may not be able to run at those...but there should be a new VMAX event in Norfolk with NO noise limits which I will run at...

I am suprised at the low speeds on that thread ....was not "MADROD" there ??
He has done 200 plus many times in his Sierra on Nitrous...and I "hope" to go over 200 as well...

IF I can beat 206/207 MPH (New Carrera Gt top speed)....I can then say I have the fastest Porsche in the UK :) ...hopefully.........

Yes my car is my daily driver and as I would never consider using my Nitrous on the road (of course :))....The Insurance company do not need to be told (I am not sure they would insure for a chute anyway lol)

All the best Brett :)

Good luck Brett. But your intended claim to fame as the "fastest Porsche in the UK" are already thwarted... There are quite a few modified Porsches in the UK which already go faster than a CGT. Mostly of the modified TT/GT2 variety which run on normal Shell V-Power without the need for nitrous, parachutes, etc.

Hi MARK :)

Loll...thanks for sending me to a SPAM site...I will delete the second link ...

Umm neither of those are exactly road cars...

Interestingly....I cannot find an EXACT top speed figure from Porsche for the Carrera Gt...the 206/207 figure is from 2 magazines testing.

All the best Brett :)

Hi :)

Ah well...we will see...IF I get a ticket saying 208 mph....I will add "Fastest Porsche in the UK" to my signature ...UNTIL I actually SEE a timing ticket that disproves my claim...

Lots of people ..SAY...their car will do a speed but proving it is different...

Of course ..I may never reach 208 anyway lol :)

All the best Brett :)

[] I honestly didn't mean to - it was only supercar.net

I've emailed you offline to ask what the problem was - I can't find anything wrong !

Apologies to anyone who had an issue - never intended...

Have you considered Aerodynamic modifications? At 200mph even a heavy 928 could lift off. Simply adding spoilers to create downforce will be counter productive as at high speeds your biggest challenge is going to be overcoming drag as it increases with the square of speed. I would imagine you would need to lower the ride height of the car and stiffen up the suspension at least.

Hi Scott :)

Yes I have discussed the 928s aerodynamics with an aerodynamic engineer...

There are a couple of bad areas

1. Just in front of winscreen on bonnet.....but to improve it..would involve cutting bonnet and inserting big "NACA" type ducts...

2. Just below rear spoiler....but to improve that would involve cutting a hole at back of roof for another NACA duct ...then ducting the air underneath...

As this is my daily driver...I dont particularly want it looking like something from "Back to the future"...[:D]

Having a chute pack on the back will be bad enough :)

The 928 isnt totally bad for drag as it WAS designed for 170 plus and to get past the drag is why I am increasing my horsepower so drastically....from 310 ish to 800 to 1000 ish...

It may work...it may not....but its fun trying...I realise a lot of people think I am a nut....but at least I am a Porsche nut ....[:D][:D]

All the best Brett :)

Hi All :)

Hi All :)

Did some more wiring so another piccy...

Top left = G-TECH accelerometer (reads 0-60.1/8 time...0-100 etc etc etc)

Bottom left =Sat Nav as G-Tech wont read above 150 mph lol

Bottom right switch...kickdown bypass

Second switch ....Nitrous Arming Switch

Top switch and hole for other switch ...bottle heater controls..

Nitrous Pressure gauge..should read 950 psi while running Nitrous...

Next stage....finish wiring plate , then move to back of car and replace my single
11 lb bottle with twin 14 lb bottles...total 28 lbs for high speed runs WITHOUT pressure drop...

Hi Paul :)
