200 MPH TOP SPEED RUNS (VMAX)

Hi :)

I meant my 500 hp race Nitrous system ON TOP of my 350 Porsche power = 850 hp ish...

My normal road system is only 150 + 350 = 505 ish...

For the top speed attempts I would be using the 500+350=850 hp system...and if that wasnt enough...I have a back up 1000hp+ 350 =1350 hp Nitrous system that I "really" dont want to use lol as that would probably break a LOT of my engine/transmission etc ... :)

All the best Brett :)

er...right...that clearly puts a different perspective on things [:D]

Surely at these levels of output a sound compliant exhaust wouldn't cost you that much bhp????
I think Leons RT12 will be hard to beat, if you can do it you could have your name in lights for some time,,,it would be especially satisfying to have older Pork up there ahead of the latest car from Ruf, best of luck [:)]

Hi :)

My exhaust noise problem is technical...

Let me explain...

To run 850 hp or 1350 hp.....I "NEED" 850 OR 1350 ..EXHAUST capacity...i.e. BIG ...OPEN pipes...

Any restriction at all will lose me massive amounts of hp at best...at worst...I will blow the top end of my engine to pieces :(

My system at the moment consists of....an X-Pipe at the front which as it sounds is a cross X pipe from either head of the V8, which replaces the front boxes with no boxes at all and the X helps the tune of the head gases to vent from the heads faster...

Next ...standard S2 resonators in middle (the only standard boxes on car) and they have very little sound quietening effect or restriction.

Next is a pair of straight through pipes at rear (called an RMB = Rear Muffler Bypass) ...no baffles at all....just shaped for tuned exhaust...

Thats it...in total...

That gives....

800 revs = 104 Db
4500 revs = 115 Db
6000 revs = 125 Db

No way they will allow that on track days and this year not at VMAX either :( ...and I CANNOT put other quietening boxes on as I NEED the flow...and exhaust CAPACITY....

Hope this helps :)

All the best Brett :)

Can you not double the amount of exhaust systems fitted to reduce the flow through each system e.g. have four independant exhaust systems each handling the flow from two cylinders? Will mean a hell of alot of pipework but might give you the capacity to reduce your Db's. Would seem a shame to get to the end of this project and only being able to expoit it on the Autobahns and deny yourself the satisfaction of beating all that supercar exotica.

Hi :)

Very good points...and I did consider it and 8 pipes from heads to rear as well...but...if you look under a 928 bonnet you will see my problem...its a MASSIVE V8 already and they were extremely clever to get it in so low....but that meant very little clearance between the headers and the inner wings :(

I came to the conclusion that the only way to get 4 or 8 header pipes would be to run them out of the front wings....wih no length for any silencing boxes...would look like a Top Fuel funny car lol (which I used to work on)

I quite fancied that but....its my daily driver ,so a little over the top....and even noisier....the local police are quite tolerant of me, but I think they might lose patience with me if I tried that :)

Ah well....

All the best Brett :)

What mods have you done to the gearbox/diff??

How will you stop??

I know Porsche gearboxes are tough but thats a lot of power. What kind of torque are you anticipating?

Regardless, please please ensure that it is video`d for all of us too far away to come and watch [8D]

Hi :)

Gearbox/diff.....just synthetic tranny fluid to stop it overheating on hard launches :)

Torque around 700 to 750 ft lbs....lol

Stopping..depends on distance...if enough room (thats around 590 metres - ish from 200 mph ish) I can stop on brakes..4 pot brembos, synthetic brake fluid etc...

If stopping distance too short...or if I get in serious trouble....I have a 12 ft chute.... :)

All the best Brett :)

I think you have confused Clubsport[:D]

Hi :)

Lollll

Ok lets make it simpler...

You can have big open exhaust pipes and lots of Nitrous power = Noisy

or

You can have small exhaust pipes with restrictive boxes and no power on Nitrous = Quiet

All the best Brett :)

Hi :)

Its 98 DB there apart from special days like Hammonds when the BBC paid for the whole site for the day :(

All the best Brett :)

Hi Brett,

better add some more power if you want to be the fastest Porsche, last sunday at the Vmax day, the 9ff 997 ran 211 mph, they are still running it in 1.4 bar boost to 7000 rpm when it's done it's going to be 1.8 bar to 8000 rpm.

I ran a paltry 162mph (well paltry compared to some of the cars there) in my 91 GT, Bruntingthorpe is the place to go for it but the start speed only makes a couple of mph at the end.

Hi Joe :)

Power isnt a problem, I not only have my 500 hp system but have a 1000 hp system in the pipeline.....my only problem being whats going to break first when I use it lol :)

All the best Brett :)

I could also run open pipes and run another 100 bhp+, then if LeonRT12 didd that he would easily be pushing another 100-200 bhp

throw away noise restrictions and I could top 200 mph with a few mod, hell maybe even 250mph !

Hi :)

I am getting it totally, I just dont agree with it....

Ever heard a Top Fuel dragster launch....??

Thats 6000 hp of pure heavenly noise....no restrictions...no noise limits ,just PURE power...

We used to have T.shirts that said....."There is nothing like the smell of Nitro in the morning"

And that was true.....but the noise....was like hell had opened up.....amazing [:D][:D][:D]

All the best Brett :)

so why do you not enter a drag race, where the regulations and restrictions suit your requirements ?
