You’re a brave man Nick running on Michelin Cup 2s (or the Dunlop equivalent?) in this very cold spell ... best to leave PSM on at the moment..! Have a smooth running-in period.
I appreciate that it’s early days but what are your initial impressions?
Always disappointing to see flipped cars available so soon while genuine enthusiasts wait in the wings, but that’s the market for you.

I was lucky enough to get Cups on the car, but know the limitations of these. Plus 8-10 and dry on the run out, nothing too challenging.Motorhead said:
Car is epic, I have had my PEC session already on a warm autumn day. Lapping everything as the short twisty circuits are well suited for the car.
For the drive out on Sunday, nothing to strenuous over 4K but you could certainly feel that the car was wanting more.
Only negative on the car, the overly complicated informatics system, with multiple parings and apps required to get everything working.

On the subject of tyre choice, I find it odd that while you seem to be able to select from the extensive options list in minute detail, the tyres which are fitted appears to be a complete lottery. I accept that manufactures don't pay anywhere near retail price for tyres, and I'm sure that the tyre suppliers are keen to get their brand on premier makes and that much depends upon how batches of tyres arrive at the factory in the just-in-time system, but you'd have thought that if you state specifically a tyre preference when ordering your car that you'd get a reasonable chance of getting what you ask for.

But this is no longer the case, and re: 718 Spyder and GT4 I have seen both tyre types arriving on the early cars which has frustrated the hell out of those that have received Dunlop that would have preferred Michelin. I've no idea D. It's been some time since we've seen the 6-pot 718 mid-engined twins running around the 'Ring and I think it unlikely that there'll be an announcement until Feb next year - at the earliest - in advance of the motor show season.
Maybe continuing delays due to WLTP are one reason, and I reckon it's a given that a PDK option will be on the table which could also be a factor since both manual and PDK versions of both cars will need to be tested. With high demand for the GT4/Spyder in the EU and US I'm sure build-slots are at a premium too, so perhaps Porsche have decided to prioritise production of these models.

They'll have spent a shed-load of money on the new 9A2 Evo engine and will need to recoup development and manufacturing costs rapidly, especially if the engine is possibly going to have a relatively short shelf-life. A lot depends upon whether or not the next generation of mid-engined cars will be pure electric or hybrid, but even if it's the latter I would expect Porsche to favour the F-4T for such an application owing to its much lower emissions when compared with those of the new n/a engine.
