718 Cayman GT4 is here – at long last.!

It's the only reason I've ordered them now to be honest! It's just recouped my last 5 years membership in one fell swoop, even though I've obviously had many other benefits in that time!
I was chatting to AndrewCS via PM and mentioned to him that finding a well priced used set of wheels was going to be tough, and with the PCGB discount a new set came in at a fairly reasonable price. I was also wary of the looming Brexit situation and import tariffs, so now seemed a good time to grab a set given that there were two black sets in Stuttgart waiting to go. There are no Satin Platinum sets in stock, and no ETA, so after my order there's now one set of Satin Black and one set of Satin Aurum available to order.
Interestingly, all of them are the same price unlike a new car order where Black and Aurum are an extra £370!

Aye Dave … thanks again for the info and now the stock details, I do like the 982`s Aurum … never had `gold` wheels before, even on past Subaru`s !
As you said, the spec of the 981 / 982 wheels is identical … the only 982 differences being at the rim edge and `I think` the span of the petal spokes.
I have asked Porsche Reading if I can fit them to the 981 as they are listed at £1240 cheaper than the 981 version, awaiting a reply … from past experiences am not expecting a positive response !

Be careful with Aurum - they can look a bit orange in the flesh. I didn't care for the colour tone when I saw it in person. Matt and gold combined is also quite marmite. No offence intended to those who like them of course, I'm just giving an alternative opinion [

They match in size, width and offsets so there's no way they can't fit! As you say, only the design is slightly different and I think AP said in an interview that the 718 wheels are a touch lighter. If we were more local we could have met up and tried one of my wheels on your car, maybe another 718 GT4 or Spyder owner can oblige?

Surely the answer is in the width and offset. If these are the same and the rim is J type on both, I would have thought you would be OK.

Front: 8J x 20 ET 57 - Tires: 235/35 R20 92 V XL M+S Rear: 10J x 20 ET 45 - Tires: 275/30 R20 97 V XL M+S
Just the thing for wet track days. With my handy dandy offset calculator, clearances are:
Fronts narrower by 12.7mm, 10.35mm away from strut, 2.35mm away from wing edge
Rear narrower by 25.4mm, 17.70mm away from strut, 7.70mm away from wing edge
Surely the answer is in the width and offset. If these are the same and the rim is J type on both, I would have thought you would be OK.

Re. definitive answers on compatibility etc. - am certainly fed up with this type of negativity from Porsche, whilst I appreciate their inherent standards / regulations etc. … they have many 911 parts in our platform / models !
Today`s thoughts are to save the cash and just alternate the Cup 2`s with some fresh PS4S`s on the existing rims

I did when I was looking earlier this week. The used set of 718 GT4 wheels that they sold, minus shipping, were only £50 less than a discounted new set from my local OPC. It's why I've just ordered new ones rather than waiting around for a used set to pop up!
Brand new sets of wheels from Porsche are fairly reasonable in the grand scheme of things. Much more reasonable than lots of other parts for sure!

Regarding ordering Porsche OE wheels from your OPC.
I also bit the bullet and ordered a set of 20" Macan Turbo wheels with winter tyres from OPC Chester, who had supplied my car. I had originally thought of ordering the 20" Macan wheels separately, then ordering the Michelin Alpin 5 N0 tyres from my local tyre specialist and having them fit them afterwards.
After receiving the quotes from OPC Chester, it transpired that the T-equipment winter wheel package complete, was cheaper that buying the wheels alone. I then suggested to OPC Chester that my preference was for Michelin Alpin 5 N0 tyres rather than the default Pirelli Sottozreos. Gareth Baker, Parts Manager at Chester, contacted T-equipment in Germany on my behalf to enquire whether Michelin winter tyres could be supplied as part of the package. To everyones surprise, T-equipment replied that this was indeed no problem and at no extra cost. I received my winter wheel/tyre package with Michelin Alpin 5 N0 tyres as requested by courier to my home address two weeks later. I paid an additional £166.00 for the carriage and insurance costs to my home address.
With Porsche Club discount applied, the wheels and tyres package was effectively giving me the winter tyres for nothing!
It makes me wonder that if your OPC were as helpful as Chester was for me, by sending a a request to T-equipment for a set of GT4 winter wheels and tyres with Michelin PS4S N0 tyres fitted in place of the default brand, that may be a worthwhile option to explore.

You will have benefitted from the package deal Tequipment offers on winter wheel and tyre sets, Brian. If you're buying the regular wheels for the GT4 there is no package option, only the wheels alone. Packages are only available for the approved winter setup which are different and have smaller wheels purely for winter with proper winter tyres.
My OPC's parts manager was telling me that the cheapest winter wheel and tyre set for a Macan is £1800 - which is a briliant price!

I can tell you that my winter wheel package for Gen 2 Macan Turbo sized wheels and N0 tyres was way above £1800!
I suspect your OPC manager was referring to the winter wheels package for the entry level 4-pot Macan on 18" wheels. Still a great bargain for those who qualify.
I take your point about the 981-982 GT4 wheel/tyre packages. Understandable as it is a niche market.
Enjoy your PS4S N0 tyres. An excellent choice for winter use.

The 982 GT4 Winter wheels are narrower, the front will take an N rated PS4S but the rear will not (and that`s without consulting Porsche pp the advice in the Owners Manual)
pp Jeff … I note that the Tequipment 20” Carrera winter wheel and tyre set for the GT4 is listed as £4,870 which probably represents a decent saving on buying the wheels and tyres separately.
Given recent investigation into this subject for my 981 … it may be possible to do this cheaper
