952 trackcar update.

I can feel the photo's getting closer - looks fantastic :) [link=http://sports.webshots.com/photo/2743315500107237321aAEgjT]here[/link]

Looks awesome Patrick, that cage looks similar to the CustomCages design, well it does in the door aperture anyway. The Motec power distrubution thing is amazing, hard to believe the fuse box and all that huge mess of wiring is replaced by one little box a switch panel and some wires. Brilliant. I think everyone who races a 944 or a 968 in this country would be interested in those electric heated windscreens, we can get them here for 911's but I never found anyone who made one for a 4 pot. We have a fair split, guys like myself, Simon and a few notable others follow the philosophy that having a clear windscreen when its wet is worth the extra weight of the heater box. Many others ditch all that and take the risk.

Pat, this is going to be some car. Anyone with a heated front windscreen in their lowly Ford's will know that the heated front windscreen is far better at demising the windscreen than the blower, even when hot. The only problem is it switches itself off after 10mins, otherwise i'd use it all the time when driving in the rain. For me it is a really desirable option and i'm flummoxed as to why all manufacturers don't have them - for me it would even mean i'd go for a Mondeo over a BMW or Audi or other car if I were in the market for another sensible family wagon. Hopefully my next car purchase will be nowhere near as sensible!!

Hi Patrick, Half way down the webshots page on the right hand side is a 'link to this picture', choose the size you want at the top (I clicked 600) then copy the 'direct link to image' address and post it as an image on the forum (click 'image' and paste it between the ][ Hopefully like this:

There might be an easier way, but it seems to work

A few recent updates. Carbon doors repaired for paint and attachment of windows with rivets. Unfortunately, they don't fit properly. [] So am going to have to get the guy who did the repairs to come out to the workshop with the doors on the car and do some tailoring with them in situ before taking them back to his workshop to repair properly. Making these doors go from a really good cheap option to starting to cost quite a lot of money. Thing is, when you feel how light they are, all is forgiven. Just have to get them right. Other pics show the wheel well that has been modified to fit the surge tank, fuel pumps and maybe the transmission oil cooler pump. This had to be all pulled apart when we found that the 6 speed didn't fit with the rear oil line access so a small cubicle of sorts had to be cut and welded in. New stronger axles and CVs installed along with the Moton Clubsport suspension. Looking forward to the easier adjustment compared to the KWs. Also showing the 305/320 slicks mounted. Not a lot of room even with the bigger flares. Could be pretty tight once the motor goes back in and drops the ride height a little more. More adjustment might be needed. Overall, very happy with the quality of the new paintwork. This is without any buffing or polishing yet so I'm hoping for an 'Oil spill Black' look when clean...for a short time at least. [:)]

I'm loving the way it's all coming together Patrick [8D] I imagine you are approaching your Springtime now, so will it be ready for this summers season?

Thanks Paul. Well naively I thought it would be ready closer to the beginning of this season...which is March through to about October. After that it gets a bit too hot. However as many of us know if there is a possibility of things not going to plan then that's the route they'll take. It occupies every waking moment in my head, and some dreams/nightmares as well, so to say that I'm apprehensively excited isn't far from the truth. I'm really not sure how much testing will be needed to get this car to a good working level but I have a few experienced people around that will no doubt be called upon when this thing finally hits the track. Wish I could make that happen sooner rather than later. It has been quite a long time coming. [] btw, I haven't seen much of Lil for a while. Any updates?

Thanks guys. Motor is yet again meant to be on the dyno this week. (Searches for smiley of man not holding his breath...). Ran into some strange issues with some temp differences between cylinders but only on vacuum. So rolling along with low throttle angle they saw some really odd differences between cylinders 1/4 to 2/3. Ideally what is needed is a custom intake or ITBs but they will tailor the already modified one and with the ECU they can trim individual cylinders, so hopefully not too much of a compromise between them. Fingers crossed we have some positive results very soon!!
