Just spotted this non-sunroof C4 on Ebay... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-911-3-6-Carrera-4-Coupe-964-1990-Manual-Baltic-blue-/320831644070?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item4ab30e61a6 £11750

So guys and gals here I am again, pending another 964 C4 coupe. As I will be biting the bullet and parting with all my other 'motoring toys', this 964 absolutely must be of the a daily driver workhorse variety - nice, but not too nice if you know what I mean. A bit of rubbing on the seats, or a few stone chips won't bother me. A car I won't mind driving, regardless of weather. Serious rust is a no, no of course, as I need to drive it, not start off with the car in a bodyshop for the first six weeks! Colour is unimportant........but, preferably not white. If anyone sees or hears of anything that might fit the bill, please let me know.

Think I'll make an enquiry about this one! Fabric seats and no sunroof, not exactly the end of the world if the car's good in other respects.

ORIGINAL: Steve Brookes Have you sold the green one or something?
Yes. Steve, I've now been unemployed for two whole years and not for the want of looking for work either - the job market is simply crap - I'm now trying to resort to contacts and sheer bravado in order to force my foot into the door somewhere and a job. By nature I'm not a pushy person, so things must be bad if I'm resorting to these tactics! I toyed with the idea of selling everything else (including my body [;)]), in order to keep the 964, but on the day of sale, was a case of losing a roof over my head, or the car!! The 964 was always going to sell a lot quicker than the Boxster and anything else I'd got for that matter, so it was a no brainer really. Regrettably some of the cash got swallowed up by immediate expenses and outstanding domestic bills, but I've clung onto the rest and now have the notion to sell my remaining wares, pool the resources and just buy a suitable 964 to drive, not store - which is exactly what I was doing with the green one and previously with the targa. If I also get rid of the XR2 (that I know will just sit there for evermore), I will be saving myself £178 per month on the storage space for vehicles not in use. Add that up over the year, and it totals an annual major service plus some emergency cash spare for a day to day use 964. All I know is, I can't be without a 964. No other car I've ever driven (and I've driven a lot of different cars in the last 25 years!), has ever put a smile on my face the way a 964 does. Even in the worst of traffic, a 964 still makes me happy. I'm hooked and even though it means a lot of other things will have to be forfeited, in my heart, I know it's what I have to do. I've booked to view the ebay listed baltic blue C4 tomorrow.

Hope it works out for you, it may not be the prettiest, but if it's well looked after who cares, it'll be a fun drive. Its got aircon (make sure its working) & cruise too, which some might see as a bonus!

Wasn't as good as it looked on the ad. For reference, air con didn't work, but it did have fully functional sun roof. An abridged rundown as follows: Paint code turned out to be 35V, Marine Blue. Velour interior was from a 3.2 (obviously) and I informed the seller of that fact. Although a car dealer, he openly admitted he knew nothing about Porsche cars! It had had a respray a few years ago, but the finish was neither matt nor shiney. It was that in between finish that a paint shop would normally flat down and polish with an electric mop. There was some sill trim rubber missing too that someone had filled with black mastic! With the exception of a bill for a clutch change at around 90,000 miles in 1998, the paperwork was no more than a folder of receipts for sundries, although all the MOTs were present. The service book was last stamped in 2002. There was no supporting servicing documentation, or evidence of major work - although the brake discs and pads were brand new all round. Owners handbook and the lovely leather folders they're in was missing. The clutch was more than due for replacement! I'd want a second opinion on the engine as far as the extent of oil leakage. Engine was reluctant to idle when first starting from cold, the revs needed holding up for a minute or so - probably a simple adjustment needed, but it added to the list of things requiring attention BEFORE I'd be able to use it as transport. Lots of other niggly things like the interior heater fan not switching off even when switched off. The retro fit alarm had issues too and may have been affecting the starting as well. The retro fit aerial on the roof was a complete carbunkle, looked bloody awful. It drove ok, apart from having to bury my left foot into the carpet on the clutch. One last thing, the interior needed fumigating - when you opened the door, the overwhelming smell of tobacco smoke and stale dog hit you like a wall. Not a nice combination of aromas [:'(] Verdict? my search will continue..........
