968 Club Sport at long last

It was a surprise to me[:)]

I was set to buy James' car, but got offered a really mint original rhd car in black with 65k miles for approx the same price. Not the colour I was looking for, but what could I say?

Congratulations Glenn - looks like there will be two black 968s prowling the streets of Berkshire now! Everyone who has seen my car is always very enthusiastic about the colour, but thats usually because it has been cleaned before I take it to any meets. It is a nightmare to keep clean, and I do think it shows up the scratches, but there is a tendency to be over critical of your own car I think. I have found the best stuff to give it a shine is that cheap black turtle wax polish - works a treat. Then I wax it with expensive stuff, just so I don't feel so bad!

Tell us more about the car anyway - was it a private buy?

Thanks David

Black was my last choice of colour, but having seen the car yesterday it did look very cool. Ive had a black 911 before and really didnt want to go there again, but the quality of the car itself outshone the colour. The interior is as new. The exterior is totally original and unmarked. It just needs a light cutting polish and then Zymol-ing.

It was a private buy. The car belongs to the girlfriend of a chap who has a 964RS. The girlfriend has bought the RS off him and the chap has bought a 2.4S to replace it. He also has a 911 track car, so is a serious enthusiast. However, he has limited parking spaces so the CS had to go purely because of that.

My next problem is finding somewhere to put it without getting ripped off.[] I could leave it on the drive but really want to garage it as it'll only get minimal use.

I have a spare garage here in Scotland that you are welcome to use [;)]

I'd promise to take it out and keep it running between your visits![8D]

Glenn,

I will think on if I know anyone who might have a spare garage! I do have an outdoor 968 cover that I don't use anymore (moved to a house with garage) that you could buy from me, or if you really intend to get it under a proper roof in the next month or so then I would be willing to loan it to you for a while. I keep meaning to advertise it, but.....

Its a Covercraft waterproof breathable fabric, tailored for a 968 - it cost £240 just over a year ago. It is in perfect condition (with security cable and padlock) but I will admit that the hot summer didn't do it an awful lot of good and it is a slightly more snug fit than when I got it. Its fine though, and I have just had it cleaned.

Sounds like you have got a cracker there!

Cheers,
Dave

Thanks for your offer! [:D]

David

Thanks for your comments, I will have a think as what to do. I know where I can rent a secure parking unit with unlimited access, but its £165pm which I think is quite expensive!! I have space on the drive but after polishing and it being black, I want to keep it clean. Im waiting to hear on a Council owned garage at the moment.

The seller seems genuine, it has just had belts/cams/chains replaced and was fully serviced last August. MOT is August as is tax. There are no fluid leaks, it drives well and was previously owned for 3 years by a Solicitor as a 2nd car. So fingers crossed. I did notice one of the headlight bulbs was only working on sidelight. I asked the guy to change it, but incase he forgets I assume these are easy to replace?[8|]
