Anybody booked for Donnington ?

I was recommended to bring 996GT3RS --- as a quiet day the drive by limit of 98dB will be applied --- and enforced ---
Guess that rules me out in a 964 RS. I am going to make a sound reducing tip but not sure if it will either be made in time or enough to get it down to 98dB. Usual reduction is 2 to 3 dB. May come along for some PAX rides if anyone offers.
If I understand the other posts in this thread, it is 98db driveby, in which case a 964 RS should have no problem whatsoever. Although I must admit 98db driveby does sound extremely high, and wouldn't tally with the idea of it being a "quiet day". Anyway, I've paid my money, so will give it a bash and see what happens. I will make sure I have a little trick up my sleve to appease the noise nazis if need be ............. (which I will be happy to lend around should there be a problem with unexpected static tests .........)

If the static sensors are a reasonable distance away, then there may not be a problem.
Does anybody have any dB comparisons ?
(And I'd prefer to take the '64).

For anyone else interested in one of Will's noise reducing exhaust tips, I will have two with me at Donny on Sunday - first come, first served ............. In addition I will have a working prototype of the extra noise reducing insert for the tip, which hopefully I will get the circuit marshalls to noise test for me on the day. Assuming all works to plan I can take orders for Will on the day. The idea is that the insert will be a push fit bung for the existing noise reducing tip which can be put in for static tests and then removed for actual track driving (as we know the 964 does not generally have a problem with driveby noise). Whilst it is not likely that it would cause damage to the engine it is highly recommended that the insert is removed before driving on track (manufacturer accepts no responsibility for damage caused if you don't etc etc etc). With any luck the insert should allow a 964 to pass even a 98db static test, so no track should be inaccessible any more (or even in the future). By way of evidence, an earlier prototype was tested at the Oulton RS day in March, and reduced a 993 Cup Car from 114db static to 100db static !!!!
Look out for me on Sunday - black RS reg J500 RSL
see you then .......
