Anybody booked for Donnington ?

Chris just realised we never sorted those tyres out - things been manic at work - I'll try and catch you at Donny and sort it yeah?

Of course, I just can't fit them in the 964RS/CS --- unless somebody knows otherwise ?

Which is where the 968CS crew start to gloat !!

I have to say from a passenger/spectator point of few it was a great day [:)]. Met up with some 964/RS folk I already knew (Jason, Rob and Matt (demonfish)) and some I hadn't met before (Jamie, Chris W, Ian and Paul). Got my first taste of an RS by going for a ride in Paul's car and enjoyed a couple of sessions in Rob's C4 which was going great guns as normal. Loved the 4 wheel drifting late on, Rob [:D].

Luckily I'd taken along a trolley jack, torque wrench and a few tools, just in case and put these to good effect with the help of Matt to sort out Paul's brakes which we found were in need of new pads. We discovered this when Paul had to take an emergency escape up the Melbourne loop with a bit of grass tracking thrown in for good measure. [:D]

There were a few traffic jams on the circuit throughout the day but I can say for certain that these were not caused by any of the 964/RSs present [;)]

You were an excellent passenger Steve giving lots of support and sharing previous experience. Was on a cracking pace with old skills (now changed for the better with big coaching session from Stuart). The Melbourne excursion gave me a fright - both times! Met the owner of the 968 who said I had great pace and then couldn't understand why we backed off and then disappeared on a site seeing tour of the GP extension! A massive thanks from me for the hard work that you and Matt did with my brake pads to get me back in the circuit. I am indebted. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and as usual a major part of the day is meeting friends and making new contacts - a major part of the experience.

Had a great day, despite having to go through the M1 roadworks on the way back home. Good to meet people and put some faces to forum names.

It was quite busy at times, but all in conditions were excellent, if not a bit too hot (gets quite warm inside a cup!). I think that stoppage at the beginning for the oil was the only stoppage all day, which is pretty good going. I had Sean Edwards with me for the afternoon, I'm always learning.

Some of the 968s were quite quick, they also seem to like chucking them around a bit - I was following one for couple of laps (dark grey/black on slicks) and he had 2 or 3 sideways moments.

He was quick!!

Great day apart from some of the driving standards but all in all one of the best days I've driven.
Good to meet with some new faces.

Rob

Ian/Paul,
I think you must have been the only two RS guys I didn't meet on the day - hopefully hook up next time.

Good to meet up with Matt, Ian and the Donny contingent - thanks to Ian for the passenger laps-more useful than the instruction I had earlier and thanks to Matt for showing me the line through Craner-was able to nail if after that.

Good also to finally see the Ferrari Yellow Techart 964RS show car which I had heard lots about and good to meet it's owner Andy - got some pix of the two yellow cars together.

A great day, good manners, my car ran like a dream (recent 9M service seems to have liberated a good few hp from somewhere).

Roll on Croft on the 25th, I know the Donny boys are going, anyone else?
Cheers,
Kevin (the other Ferrari Yelllow RS)

Yes a fantastic day --- was surprised to find myself faster than most of the other green wrist bands and not uncomfortable with many of the Blue ones --- progress !!

Pushed myself to the point where it was getting ragged and then took some tuition which was extremely useful --- and amazing to see how fast an experienced hand could drive my car --- 968 drivers --- this was not me !!

Lost the last half hour of the day because the car seemed a little hot and either the Motec or the engine seemed to be "tinkling" a tad and it wouldn't pull smoothly through 4000rpm in 4th ... so I'll ask Colin to take a look at it.

One of the best days I've had, thankyou all ...

P.S. There's a Croft on the 19th (Strasse ?) and the 25th June ?

Just want to say hello to all the RS crew who I had the great pleasure of meeting on Sunday! Still one or two who I didn't get chance to speak to as it was so busy.
Special shout out to the following; Jamie, Kevin, Martin, Ian (RSL), Ian (Cup Car), Ian (2.2), Chris and Andy. TOP BLOKES!!!!
See you all at Croft in 2 weeks?[:)][:)][:)]

ps; Just setting off to Donington again for an evening session on track![:)][:)][:)]

Regards, Matt.

Chris, I was thinking about your hot running on the way home. On reflection mine gets no where near as hot - only half way up on a really hot track day. I'm sure Colin will sort it but have you tried the 'hot wing test'? If all is working correctly your front right wing should be warm. If it's cold then the thermostat is not opening. If it's boiling hot there might be a problem with your oil cooler fan.

It was great meeting up with the 964RS gang, and it wasn't me holding you up either :)

Look forward to another opportunity to meet on track later this year - I might pop along to Oulton for a spectate.

Ian

Kevin/Matt Kasbridge/65 Mat,

Sorry didn't get to meet you. Usually get around to see everyone but spent 1/2 the day flat out on the track and the rest of the day with Stu/Steve/Matt getting replacement brake pads procured/fitted/paid for/bedded in.

Going to Croft next - see you there?! [:D]

Looking forward to having a chat and having a nosey at your car Paul up at Croft.
I would say that the four of us ( yourself, Chris, Kevin and myself ) were all putting in similar lap times at Donington ( around the 1:30> mark ). This should make for interesting driving up at Croft. You can't beat it when you get a nice little convoy on the go, flowing nicely around the circuit![:)][:)][:)]

See ya there!!!

Makes it look easy doesn't he!!![;)]

Yes, he does. His comment, when someone asked what he thought of the car - "I love the 964 RS. Its underpowered, but for such an old car, the chassis is amazing!"

Steve, thanks for this.

I'll mention it to them ---, I am guessing that maybe the thermostat is cutting in a little late. I'll try the hot wing test --- I guess this also works when the car is just ticking over !
