I've picked that car out before I think on another forum, it has been for sale for a week or two but I think the spec is spot on and it all works well together. I would buy if looking although I always said I would never buy another black car. Look great when clean but Sh… when dirty.

Not sure what it would list at but guess it is up at a premium you pays your money etc.

However you look at it its a very nice car.

As I've got nothing better to do I've just priced up the Black Spyder Daro911 mentions above.

Not now able to price sports buckets or heating, but taking full buckets which will be a little more the list price comes out at £93937.00 without the initial road tax premium so probably not the seriously high price it initially looks.

Just about exactly how I would spec it but for the colour, probably Gentian as my GT4 and also carbon door sills. I went for gold wheels on my GT4 which in hindsight I probably would not do again as they are a bit bold. I would probably respray standard wheels in Weiss gold which is softer and more subtle.

All very much in the eye of the beholder .

Geoff, could I trouble you for some images showing your gold wheels and Weiss Gold. I am planning to have my wheels refurbished this year and I am tempted to go for a gold finish. Thanks in advance.

The RS wheels may be white gold ? Not sure now looking at your pictures.

Either way I like both the bottom colours better the Satin Aurum

That BBS wheel colour is lovely. I have to refurb my wheels this year and gold might be the way to go. Plenty of food for thought.

The Weiss gold is very white indeed but still a lovely colour.

I have my Turbo Twists off 986 in with South West Alloys at the moment and in a leap of faith Ive chosen Wiess Gold (white gold). The I’ll post the photo when I get them back this week.

I wanted a lighter shade of gold and also this is a Porsche stock colour we fingers crossed.

also thinking to get the car wrapped with Martin Race logos. I’ve had it for 20yrs now and I fancy a change without changing the car itself.

I will look forward to the results of both endeavours !

I prefer the look of the 987 Spyder - its a bit less aggressive and less fussy in detail, and a more classical rendition. But forgetting looks which are in the eye of the beholder, which is the better drivers car 987 or 981? Does the 3.8 make up for the additional weight?

Here are a couple of links that might answer your question but in a word I would have to say YES the 3.8 more than makes up for a few extra kg's [;)] https://live.editiondigital.com/e/206hcmddt/july#!page60 718 Spyder fast forward to 10m for conclusion v 981 [link=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3cUd5QhEkA]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3cUd5QhEkA[/link]

After a Boxster 987 S 3.2 owned for 6 years from new followed by 2 987 Spyders between 2011-2016 my 981 Spyder experience has been nothing but fantastic and after a very long test drive of a 718 Spyder on "A" roads, M25 & country lanes I concluded the upgrade from 981 to 718 was just not worth the then extra £25k +++ so I declined to proceed with my late 2020 build slot This was back on Feb 1st 2020 - Fast forward to December 2020 and all the current turmoil we are living through and I was offered a £6k premium on my 4 year old 5k dry miles minter and after careful consideration of what could I possibly buy that could deliver the same satisfaction for my dry weather fun motoring I turned this once in a lifetime offer down No regrets and can't wait to get back out on the dry roads in the near future hopefully

As an owner of a 987 Spyder and former owner of 981 Spyder I’d have to agree, the 981 is an evolution of the 987 by the best performance car manufacturer on the planet.

the 981 is more power and faster, handles well, is balanced and predictable. A fantastic car.

I went back to a 987 because, I as an individual felt the 987 was better suited to my personal taste, it’s raw, not as refined and has in my opinion a better connection with the tarmac.

Top trumps would say 981 all the way, the seat of my pants says 987

Bare in mind also I completed somewhere in the region of 40,000miles in 987 but just 1000 in 981.

colour choice is also better on 981

enjoy long test drives, make your own mind up, great topic this, all the very best of luck in your search

Just had my 2010 987 Spyder dropped off at my house on Thursday night - not driven it yet as I bought it from Ashgoods end of January. I’d had it inspected by ‘Porsche Inspections‘ and it flagged up some minor issues - but as a 22K mile car nothing insurmountable. The guys from MLR Porsche Independent collected it, and replaced all 4 discs and pads, renewed certain brake pipes, fluids change, full steam clean & waxoil underneath and then delivered it. New private plate fitted and she’s ready to be driven! I’m hoping to take the ‘bag’ off the roof (also known as a hood!) and drive it whenever the suns shining!!

Pictures to follow
