Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

For the items making up the extra weight of the 718 v 981, see below this GT4 comparison from Sport Auto.

Generation Differences:

Exhaust system inc GPF + 10.8kg Engine inc stop/start + 7.7kg Diffuser/undertray + 6.5kg Other trim + 3.2kg

Specific Differences of the GT4 Test Vehicles

718 had Clubsport option + 19.9kg 718 had racing bucket seat + 9.0kg AGM battery v 981 LiFePO4 + 16.1kg

Also and separately to the individual vehicles above, the rules for published manufacturer weights changed between 981 and 718. On the former, lightest possible configurations were published, so Aircon delete, PCCBs etc. On the latter, typical configuration weight had to be quoted, this rule change adding at least 50kg to post-change published vehicle weights.

I was always led to believe rightly or wrongly the 981 Fixed Sport Suspension weighed considerably less than the PASM option [&:]

I wouldn’t think the dampers weigh much more, a bit of extra wiring and the old PASM ECU in my study is very light so “considerably” is unlikely IMHO.

You are correct my research came up with 5kg extra weight for the PASM

So, I've just rejoined PCGB after a couple of years absent and decided to change the colour of my black wheels to silver on my 2010 987 Spyder along with some new tyres. I think I've had enough of the black 'stealth' look for now.

Does anyone know of the correct colour silver for the Spyder 987 wheels or, as now I'm repainting the choice is mine? Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Dave

It looks like the colour code is called "9A1 Silver" (source: [link=https://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/porsche_alloy_wheels/boxster_987_gen_2_alloys/19_porsche_spyder_wheel_1759]https://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/porsche_alloy_wheels/boxster_987_gen_2_alloys/19_porsche_spyder_wheel_1759[/link]). I'm very much with you on the silver wheel look. It's back in fashion and I would definitely go for silver wheels if I had the choice (says the person who just bought a car with dark grey wheels...).

This will be a whole new price level and even harder to obtain than rocking horse doo doo :ROFLMAO:

Welcome Back

I've seen some Porsche cars running with silver wheels and black nuts. Not a good look in my book[X(]

Agree on the changing weight requirement criteria on 981v 718 Ralph , and Andreas Preuninger confirms as much in his “ interview “ on

The latter version with the tails locked on top of the new air intakes looks like its using the glass from the 987 Spyder
