Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Spyderwhite When you mentioned only 6 unregistered so i take some private collectors have them in storage or i am reading it wrong and just traders just haven't registered them with buyers yet at the DVLA . Glass deflector Defiantly not there .you could only get the bag in there doubt the glass would fit as not much room . Thanks for the numbers as i am sure people will ask the question ...or i will be telling them how exclusive a car it is[;)] [;)]. I recon there will be about 6 RED ones in the U-K . Just about to go and but its first tankful of Vpower in it since i have had it. Brian Sorry forgot to post a picture[]

New page new pic[:)] So, here's all the Porsche Speedsters together, I think. How many different Porsche Spyder models are there?[8|]

Apart from the obvious PDK / manual ,left hand drive / right hand drive, rear bumper humps / non-USA cars (or indeed, roof up and roof down), I am fairly confident that the only difference in the model years of the Spyder was the colour of the steering wheel. Early cars were gunmetal and the rest were black. As they say on Rennlist, it is a FACT that it is possibly the best car ever made!

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Ok ok[:D] So there's our Boxster Spyder, the 550 Spyder & the 918 Spyder but is that it? (The Boxster RS60 Spyder is a special edition, not a distinct model)

Saw an off white 356 speedster tonight on the M6 northbound in the big traffic jam by Haydock, unfortunately I didn't get chance to have a good look as I was going the other way, but at a guess it will still be there [:'(]

kitchens the 6 unregistered boxsters is unconfirmed and may be a miss quote in numbers, even if they were in private collectors hands would they still not have been registered and also for first years tax.so i still stand at 231 cars in the uk until porsche gb tell me otherwise i might even write to them! robk as for differences in 2011 and 2012 model years who knows maybe you got extra kit like the alcantara bits in my car(one of the few 2012my 997.2s i saw for sale had an alcantara steering wheel, handbrake, gearstick like my car) or some unknown upgrade it does seem strange why porsche created a 2012my for the spyder and also odd that there are 2012my 997.2 when the early 991 is a 2012my.the last caymans were all 2012my and the 981c a 2014my what happened to 2013my

My previous reply of 5 were:- 1) The original 550 Spyder James Dean fondly called the Little Bastard Circa 1953-1957 2) the 986 ltd Ed 50th Anniversary Qty 1953 Spyder circa 2004 (My heavweight) 3) The 987 Red Interior RS 60 Spyder circa 2008 4) The yellow LM RS Spyder circa 2005-2008 5) Our little favourite

2) the 986 ltd Ed 50th Anniversary Qty 1953 Spyder circa 2004 (My heavweight) 3) The 987 Red Interior RS 60 Spyder circa
these 2 were not particularly special ie 550 special edition(this one never had spyder in its name just boxsterS anniversary edition) and rs60 special editon and should not be mentioned in the same breathe as a boxster spyder.in my eyes the caymanR is no more special looking than a cs or blackedition where as the boxster spyder is something unique to its siblings and can be compared to something like a speedster or a sport classic perhaps

Flat6 - that pic wasn't working earlier. Quite unusual if that's a genuine 993 Speedster. Porsche only made a couple I think. There's a chap in R5 (graham?) who has a lovely one he had built himself, think he's coming to Llandudno. My data on numbers comes from the horse's mouth so to speak and I reckon it's pretty reliable.

i dont dispute that but using the dvla site new at first registration(VEH0160 which is up todate to 09/12) which is not the same as cars registered/sorn that qtr or year, 6 cars are unaccounted for with regards to your 2010 numbers, now they must be unsold and unregistered to be off the radar theres the dilema over the numbers and as i said before no disrespect but numbers can easily be misquoted

I have the confirmation from PCGB (not club) there were 237 UK cars breakdown as posted earlier by RK It is feasible in the 3 years since launch that 6 cars have been written off []

yes but they still would be on the registered new for first time list unless they were written off on track unsold and unregisted.is there not a 6 month thing where new cars have to be registered?

Thanks guys. How could I forget the DHL liveried RS Spyder race car

So, that's only 4 time the Spyder moniker has been used in a Porsche car model name. Not many at all. Spyderwhite, I agree with you about the Cayman R. It's a good looking car, as is the standard Cayman,
8297514878_0e470211aa_b.jpg
but Porsche made no effort at all with bodywork revisions. The Aerokit Cayman, being available prior to the R as a Tequipment option didn't help it stand out. The Boxster Spyder is even recognisable from the front with the revised air intakes and lightweight, minimal lights. I was once followed by a Cayman R on the motorway but only realised what it was when I let him past and saw the side stripes and then I looked for the badge and contrast colour rear aerofoil. My guess is Porsche will make more effort with the next racy Cayman. It has to. Yep, the 993 Speedster was never officially released. However, 2 were built. One for F.A. Porsche and the other for Jerry Seinfeld. The latter was originally a cabriolet, sent back to the factory for his desired rebuild. RobK, you're right that a chap in R5 has one. There's a thread on here somewhere covering the build. Daro, I think you sent it to me in the past. Do you have it? I guess it follows the same rebuild process as Seinfelds, but carried out but specialists over here. The other handful around the globe I don't know how they were built.

I had a 550 in 2004 Limited Edition Gt Silver Black Interior Tiptronic cant remember the run number . It was a lovely car went to a PCGB weekend in Ireland and some one came up and said love the car would you sell it .Deposit received 3 days later . We have 3 964 narrow bodied Speedsters in our region 1 Speed Yellow. 1 Guards Red 1 Rivera Blue LHD all owned by Porsche enthusiast who have several Porsche's to there name as well as there Speedsters . Car was well received at the Tipec meeting to night. I agree the RS 60 and 550 where just run out models not a dedicated model as the Spyder is . Brian

ORIGINAL: flat6 Thanks daro. That car is a bit special isn't it. Hopefully i'll get to see it in Wales.
