Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

hence it's still for sale lol wheels seems a bigger issue than the other things as even the people who buy one with chairs seem to want the wheels. I am going to post my car again just because it is so clean And this page has way to many bad spyders on it. (doh new page lol any way no need to post a pic even though it's the same) lets have a page of people's clean Spyder's to show noobies what to look forward too. If you can see any tar or spec's it's your monitor not my car :p

ORIGINAL: flat6 Welcome back John[:)] In summary, Brian is considering some changes to his car. We're waiting for GeeForce to update us on a car he's considering RobK let his dear mother buy a car without the presence of his keen eye and then slated it afterwards[;)] MrD has 2 very very clean cars The buckets vs sports seat debate rumbles on. The Solihull car (with sports seats) has sold. Oh and my wind deflector clips have finally arrived. I've only been waiting since last September. Gonna get them installed next week. Woohoo!
Good work their Prof flat6 your memory is excellent however a few more small points for John to ponder yonder Welcome Back AGAIN! Which of the used Spyders available today would you buy OPC Indi or Private cars all included [;)] Which Spyders will be worth the serious money in years to come bucket with manuals or buckets with pdk and same again with hot chairs You could also add those with the real deal wheels or those with a wheel upgrade []

Well there has been quite a bit going on - but not many cars sold - unless I missed something. In summary I will try and answer questions in order:-
Brians wheels - Its a fine line between making some changes and distorting the look/image of the car for no performance gain. I'm sure Brian will make the right choice that suits his taste - will be interesting to see results if he goes that route. But not for me. ------------------ Interesting to see we have another Spyderman in waiting - Good luck with the search GeeForce! --------------------- Rob K's mother should sue him![;)][] -------------------- Noted Mr Demon seems to have a good eye[;)] ---------------- Buckets V Sports - well it would not matter for me (the Mrs only wants heated)[;)] ------------------ Which of the current cars for sale would I choose without seeing - well the answer may surprise some 1- http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/boxster-987-05-12/porsche-boxster-987-gen-ii-spyder-2011/1300313 2- http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/boxster-987-05-12/porsche-boxster-spyder-boxster-spyder/1315370 However, I would not swap either for mine - NO I'm happy! [:D][:D][:D][:D] I rather like the colour combo of car 1 - somewhat suprised it has not sold[&:] May be a story? Car 2 needs PSE ------------------ Flat 6 - Pleased to hear that your problems with 'Rear Wind' will soon be resolved[:D] ------------------- Which Spyders will be worth serious money in years to come. Well thats easy - what do you look for when buying a 25 year old Porsche today? The spec and colour that suit you - then its Condition and for me it must have FSH and low or at least sensible mileage. Perhaps a question for all to ponder - In Ten years time what would stop you buying a second hand Spyder[8|]

Welcome back John .....don't panic no changes imminent[;)] well not really i have de-badged it today . I phoned up the dealers and for the Boxster name it is £70 but only £32 for the Spyder though it would be the other way round .When you remove them you cannot refit them . So will either order a new Spyder only or try and source some type of adhesive to put the Spyder name back i thing it looks nicer with it on than off to be honest, looks a bit bland with out it and you want other people to know what you are driving don't you [;)] . As to the wheels looked at a set done for the local OPC by the Wheel Specialist today with the Silver /Grey[:D] line around them and Black face and silver /Grey rims ...honestly not sure i like it maybe because it is not a factory job it looked cheap looking for some reason . .IF i where to go down that route i would have the face all Black and the rims left the original colour.I change my mind like the weather .I appreciate the purists will frown on any changes made but it is my choice at the end of the day and can easily be put back to factory standard . Brian

Brian, I partly de-badged my 964 some years back. Removed the "Carrera 2" badges, and just put back the "Carrera" after a bit of paintwork to the bootlid. My painter carefully removed the old adhesive tape from the badge. Simply place the cleaned badge on a piece of double sided badge tape and go round it carefully with a scalpel, remove the backing, and stick it back on the car. Simples! I see no reason why you cannot re-use the "Spyder" badge the same way. I've even got a roll of tape and a scalpel! [;)]

I used some [link=http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Double-Sided-Car-Trim-Moulding-Badge-Tape-Strong-Foam-Adhesive-6mm-x-10m-/280973169557?pt=UK_Body_Shop_Supplies_Paint&hash=item416b4e5395]thin double-sided tape from eBay[/link] - it was a bit of a faff cutting it into little bits to fit the Spyder badge, but it was a lot cheaper than giving the dealer £32!

Guys Thanks for the info I have some DST but it is white and will show up , need a black material that web site look to be the one i need . Brian

Well there has been quite a bit going on - but not many cars sold - unless I missed something. John one OPC car sold and I see the silver sports seat[;)] private Spyder is no longer on pistonheads tonight So thats 2 down whilst you were overseas[8D]

eBay is your friend. You can buy rolls of car badge foam tape. Loads of different widths, you will need a scalpel though - I did mine with a Stanley knife blade but it really isn't neat enough.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Thanks John[:)] And good points on what makes a desirable classic from one who's been there and done that. I guess the other thing is that some of us may be looking to scratch a new itch in 5 years or so. By then a lot of buyers who had say, a 3 year finance deal, or turn over their cars at the end of 3 years warranty will have completed cycle and the supply of cars to the market may reduce even further. No-one has a crystal ball but those with some experience, in the medium term i.e. 5 years from now (the cars will be 8 to 10 years old), what will Spyders be worth then do you think?

Back to 6[&o] Mileages are going up, but prices ain't coming down. This one has buckets but, whilst we don't add ££ for PDK, i'm not sure if the OPC's think the same way? Brian, you can buy badge tape at any coachworks suppliers, in fact I think even Halfords sell it.
