Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: daro911 I think the green detailing was a factory option on the last of the R's
I didn't know that. Does that include the caliper colour, which is something Porsche are quite precious about? New page new pic. It's the first time i've noticed the difference in shape of the gen 1 vs gen 2 rear light cluster. Until I thought it was just the lenses within it that were updated.

Of the 6 OPC cars for sale, which would you choose and why? Let's assume all the cars are in A1 condition. Also assume that if it has the wrong wheels, the OPC will swap them for you. For me it'd be the Bristol car for the colour and the bucket seats (yes, I know i'm proving the bucket seat theory[;)] ) and if I couldn't get comfortable with the mileage vs the price, it'd be the Solihull car and pocket up to £6000 saving vs the alternatives. What say you?
I am with the Bristols Spyder too but if you opened the choice to all available cars today I might have to say the private sale Aqua car but not at OPC money being asked [&o]

I don't think it's dear at all. It has 12 months Porsche warranty and just been serviced. Unique spec, what's not to like? [:D]

Boxster Spyder 05/11 White 5,232 £ 42,850 Burgess Hill Boxster Spyder 04/11 White 9,400 £ 39,900 Guildford, Surrey Boxster Spyder 09/10 White 9,900 £ 36,850 Solihull Boxster Spyder 07/11 Black 9,963 £ 41,890 Leeds Boxster Spyder 03/10 Silver 14,075 £ 38,495 Byfleet Boxster Spyder 04/10 White 15,759 £ 40,990 Bristol Personally I quite like the seller's bullish take it or leave it approach to pricing in his advert. I have just spent the evening going through my Mum's newly acquired approved used BMW - on a 60 plate with 18k miles or so I am pretty annoyed at poor/ lazy prep and attempts to pull the wool over her eyes / promises not kept. Not impressed. Like mrdemon has said before on here, sometimes it's better to deal with the seller directly? If that's a route you're happy to follow then that unique car is priced ok I think? If I was buying I'd have to have a think - I have paid the asking price for some used cars in the past and significantly less for others!

the issue with the car now is people are not wealthy enough to buy it as a 2nd/fun car @ 40k and for a bit more you can buy a Cayman R which you can use every day, but still gives you that great drive. It's a true classic we know that but it will take time regarding classic status. the car sells out low 30k and it attracts the Lotus and Caterham person wanting to trade up, people then find a few k more to maybe goto 35k the 40k market is very small 2nd hand imo. the new Boxster is a very nice car and gets the new money bought by sugar daddies lol If then most people who are buying them are coming from Lotus or Caterham the PDK market is doomed I am sure of it, as those buyer all want a manual car with bucket seats. the Market has still not found it's feet with these cars yet, but I put money on a large price divide in the future with PDK and sports seats vs Manual and buckets.

But dyllan weren't you seeking heated seats?

Yes Robert I was,but realise I may have to Compromise on one or more if I am ever to get one....... If mr demon is right and there will be a big divide for sports heated and PDK vs manual buckets I will be a happy man [:D]

My market research from the start of 2011 onwards I discovered cars priced at circa £40k tended to shift eventually but by 2012 quite quickly Cars over £40k today for reasons you have stated are much harder work but circa £35-38k right history and low mileage all seem to hit the spot It will be interesting to see (or try to predict) what sort of cars with serious mileage (for a Spyder) will be making in the next 3 years to come as a £2?K something must be coming to market on a more regular basis sometime soon I would imagine As far as the key specifications go manual or pdk buckets or hot chairs [:D] I think it is a very hard call to make regarding future desirability and potential residuals Eventually when these cars "possibly" become as rare on the used car market as some of the previous low production number cars from Porsche condition, history and low mileage could become a more significant factor than buckets or hot chairs maybe right now[&o] Manual or PDK could be determined by the fact many would be collectors in 15-20 years time had only ever really experienced paddle shifts or traffic congestions had become even more unbearable making a 3 peddle Spyder as hard work as a non PAS car would be in today's world:ROFLMAO:

All good points MrD. Daro, you've also given me food for thought. If I was a betting man I certainly wouldn't bet against buckets and manual being the creme de la creme in years to come. At present, for some, the car has multiple uses and some people (not me!) have to consider things like whether the wife can exit the car in a dignified fashion etc etc. That's where sports seats come in desirable. However, in the future as a collector's car, which may be a 3rd car if not a second car, the wife etc. might not get any where near it or the buying decision. (Sorry, just an example, not intended to be a derogatory stand point). Then, i'd expect people to lean more towards the launch spec, with the buckets etc. The question of how the sport seats cars will get on I think will depend on how many people NEED them (bad backs etc.) vs how many are available. I admit that if we're relying on people with bad backs to make a car desirable then we're clutching at straws! But maybe there are other reasons to NEED sports seats that I haven't thought of[:D] The new 991 GT3 has sports seats as standard and the buckets seats are an option at extra cost. So, they are up to the job of a much more aggressive monster than ours and I find the sports seats fine. But when there's an even better option, the latter must create a greater desire. Again, the number of cars available will be factor on how it all pans out. There's 231 to 237 cars available. If there is consistent demand in the future for 240 cars then people will start to compromise on wheels, colour, seats and maybe even transmission. If there is a consistent demand in the future for 100 cars, then we will indeed see if a certain spec gets left out in the cold.

[:D] Nope, but someone must've listened[;)]. The options list was very short but with the right colour and right wheels in it's favour it'll look just as good parked up alongside any of ours and will drive as good too. A wise move by someone who could overlook a few of the trimmings[;)]
