Its been a very good week for Spyder sales despite the coldest May since 1979 ... Swindon sold a Spyder, the 2 private cars have been taken off PH possibly both sold too and then there is Geeforce who nabbed a cracking spec low miles Spyder before it ever came to market

I do like that pic for some reason. Yep there has been some movement in the market. Are there any other potential buyers out there on the club forum?

ORIGINAL: flat6 Also, Cayman gets my vote over Boxster. A coupe creates a much better cabin environment in lots of different ways (for me) except opening up to the skies, and structural rigidity is maximised (I accept that in the Boxster's case, it's as stiff as roadster needs to be and some say the Spyder might be better than the R due to being not too stiff). I don't see the point of having a folding roof, unless you're going to take the roof off completely and make a better car, like you know what
Have you been on the sauce? Cayman gone. Spyder back. Sorry but it just didn't so it for me! I always think the Cayman is largely pointless. What does it do better than its drop head sister? I noticed my loaner also had cruise and Xenons but the standard seats are no replacement for my buckets. It looked amazing in the sunshine.

After all the rave reviews I was expecting to be blown away. I wasn't. Spyder trounces it for the driving experience and was also much more stable in strong wind on the motorway. It was on 19" wheels and standard suspension but the similarly specced Boxster 981 is a better set up with a more comfortable ride. It felt slow (maybe not run in at 1000 miles) but it is higher geared. I tried the "mrdemon wiggle" and it was there for sure. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely thing but I defy anyone to drive one back to back with a Spyder and claim that (wind noise aside) there is any positive evolution in the driving experience. On a separate note, did anyone clock page 109 of Porsche Post. Spydermen have a rival - Batman just bought a 986S!!

Linda likes the boxster s but the cayman s is still her favourite.she is a very good keen driver and appreciates the extra rigidity(car too!!) I like the open air experience myself so am willing to sacrifice the tighter drive . I did enjoy my month with the new 981 as it has moved the quality on over the 987 series cars, but can see why folks on here enjoy the 987 model - the 981 has IMO lost a bit of the rawness

I wonder what will happen when all cars are PDK, electric steering, distance control and electric hand brakes. Think I will have to go back to super bikes for fun. ( or just buy a ford fiesta) and give up. Sad times that a gt3 and Clio sports have no manual option and every thing electric. And I don't care what any one says electric steering ATM is shitty. But I am sure they will perfect that and also make a real manual PDK. And my biggest gripe with Porsche is NOT signing off super sport tyres and still use tyres with 8 year old design. Sorry but f**k N spec tyres I am dumping the shit which are on my car for some modern tyres. I did a track day and melted them after 2 laps, what's the point on a track focused car !!! Unless you drive like miss daisy. Ruin my track day and was money down the toilet imo. If all cars go this nancy way the GTR sales will pick up as you may as well have the best at the game and own the fastest. Why have a 981 over a GTR for the same money, I am not a badge snob so would buy a GTR no question over a new Porsche. I was close this time over the R as a daily, but thank **** the r is fun to own and drive (tyres aside) I have bought a few things for my car which should make it sweet, just a shame I have to spend money on it and buy proper tyres and fit it with a proper geo. and mores the point I have to do it twice grrr How to ruin a £65k car. And why do people still buy N spec tyres ? Rant over, sorry for the harsh words but ffs Porsche fit these so called drivers cars with some modern rubber ffs. I have to work hard to dump 2k worth of new rubber to fit some thing worth having. And then pay for two full geo's on both cars ..... I really want a better exhaust on the Spyder now also, I keep saying it but the R exhaust not only is bigger so gives more Bhp but it sounds much better than the PSE on the Spyder. It's so temping to just give the car 350bhp and spend a few k on it to perfect it with a few choice mods. But I,ll do tyres and geo 1st and see what I feel like after that.

ORIGINAL: kitchens Daro911 That is the same car that was advertised on PH last week ..it has been reduced by around £1k .It was advertised some weeks earlier cheaper than his present asking price and then he raised it again . . The market is getting a bit to busy I think people as selling to cheap ...well we would say that wouldn't we trying to keep values up [;)].I understand reasons why people want out of there present cars finance. lease etc IF and only IF i where to contemplate selling it would not start with a 3 in the asking price especially as being possibly one of only a handful of Red ones .
Tonight it has gone again [:D]. So now back down too just 6 on PH Johns first choice the private black/ red buckets has gone too!
Now the Black one with Red/Black seats is back on Pistonheads - http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/boxster-987-05-12/porsche-boxster-987-gen-ii-spyder-2011/1300313

Perhaps your view, with which I totally agree, is the reason why sales to date have been very small compared to the drop top version not to mention the ridiculous price difference for a hard hat I have never seen the point of a 2 seater sports car with a fixed roof[] But I accept there are many folks who don't like being exposed to the elements but I have been a topless driver since passing my test and have enjoyed every single open mile so I am slightly biased to put it mildly[:D] I reckon 80% of the drop top cars I see entering the gym as I bash away on the treadmill NEVER - RARELY have their roofs down [&o]

Ha - good post midnight rant above MrD. I am afraid that I am too tight and too precious about my Spyder to do a set of tyres in on a track day. Miss Daisy can passenger with me all day. On a PCGB day I'll not be holding too many people up though [;)] Lovely day gents, off to tie some white ribbon to the front of the Spyder for Jamie Wilson's wedding this afternoon. Get your roofs down!

ORIGINAL: MrDemon I really want a better exhaust on the Spyder now also, I keep saying it but the R exhaust not only is bigger so gives more Bhp but it sounds much better than the PSE on the Spyder.
Is it the actual exhaust or the cars acoustic differences giving the R a better sounding PSE[&o] Finding an after market sports exhaust that doesn't cause the dreaded boom between 2750-3100 rpm is a real challenge from my past dabbles This sounds nice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6PYsppLnGg

You can buy the larger dia R exhaust from carnewal to keep oem and set it to always open. But if you are going to fit after market, Cargrapic seems a nice choice as it has valves and you can fit a better manafold. I had a Remus on my gen 1 but that was mainly to delete 2 of the 4 cats . The dfi cars have all 4 cats in the manafold, which is annoying. I did not ruin my tyres, just grip went off after 2 laps and it was a cold day, on a warm day it would be useless. So if any thing my car had hardly Any track time. I tried my hardest changing psi and checking temps etc, but still pointless. Think I ended up 5psi down from cold all round to make them last the longest. Looking forward to better tyres and a geo not made for girls though.

All the best for today Jamie. Although, you shouldn't be reading this so I've dropped you a text[:)] Rob, I did see a pic of a Spyder with a bow on the bonnet but you can do much better. 2 perfect anchor points on the rear & aero slots in the door mirrors (which the 981 doesn't have) must surely give opportunity to really go to town. All the best for today. The Cayman crew are very quiet, so I don't expect any backup[&o] Will reply when I wake up properly. It's all healthy banter & long overdue on this thread, erm... I mean forum[:D]

Gone for the subtle look. Go faster ribbons. Mirrors were a good call but the florist down the road had less than 4m of white ribbon left and it was just short!
