Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Good thinking John. That bar is the main concern isn't it. I try to tuck it within the folded roof. Just make sure that the underside of the recesses for the anchors on the rear deck, coupled with the added bulk of the foam, doesn't cause a point of pressure on the roof fabric as it's very limited space under there.ORIGINAL: jdpef356Someone was worried about the Hood tube scratching the underside of the Boot when hood stowed away. My Solution. Plumbers foam insulation piping cut to length.![]()
So would a 981 by the sound of things ;-)ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Well it had the wrong seats, wheels and gears! If it has heated seats and Xenons it could be perfect for him!
Maybe if the next Spyder has a targa roof like the 918 it'll have a bit more wider appeal through a bit more practicality[8|]ORIGINAL: flat6Mine is a daily driver but I do know what you mean. I always say that if someone wants to get into your car or vandalise a convertible roof, they will, whether it is simple roof or a complex on. But, mine is religiously garaged for security and away from the weather (winter weather in particular as it'll happily stand in a monsoon, but garaged all year round), so I know what you mean. If you like you get the top down on every drive opportunity AND the car isn't garaged, so you have to put it on every night, then you're decision is a fair one. You'll instead have to listen to us rave on, and on, and on about them[ORIGINAL: CLIFFWILKINSYes of course when I know you will know. As far as the Spyder is concerned I would have one in a drop of a hat but as its my everyday car its just not practical as far as the roof goes. For work and the climate the conventional electric roof suits me. But if I could have a second car i would have a spyder for sunny days and just Porsche outings. I had a good look and sit in John Dunns Spyder at Symmons Yat He gave an insight into roof removal .Thanks John. But not practical for myself for everyday and it also sits on the drive. But lovely looking cars with the roof off. After 3 Boxster and 2 other convertables myself I think you could say I like my convertables. Happy Spydering. Tracy. Boxster RSORIGINAL: flat6Hi Tracy When you know what issue the article will be published in, please can you post that info on here so that us Spydermen can look out for it. Thanks And, what do you think of the Spyder? Might you consider one some day?ORIGINAL: CLIFFWILKINS Hi Everyone I have just been contacted by GT Porsche mag who are looking for a Spyder for tomorrow (29th) for a photo shoot at Silverstone. It is a mixture of on road and also a chance to take your car around the PEC track.. If you are free at such short notice and would like to help out please let me know. Regards Tracy Boxster RS]

ORIGINAL: MrDemon I pushed the button on the Dunlop race maxx tyres today. Not cheap ....
Sounds like a lot of fun ahead for you[8D]ORIGINAL: MrDemon Fitted the 7mm front spacers today, again another change, more turn in. Cars totally different to how it was a week a go now. Knife edge sharp on bends, no need to play with lift off to get the nose in at speed. Car just carves round the bends at any speed and if the bend get tighter, no problem. Cannot hit the limits on the road with this car, the car's now better than me. I am talking of course really pushing the car now to find it's limits, not out for a nice weekend drive. A to B I thought nothing could match my 4wd TTRS with all the trick bits on. But now I bottle out befor the car does. Would love Chris Harris to drive the car now with these few simple tweeks and also get a west lap time at Bedford in it. Got to do it all over again with the Spyder, which of course will also have the r spec tyres as well. These are true sports cars, and any one waiting for a Cayman GT3 is wasting their time imo. This car is now awesome, a gt3 spec Cayman would ruin it for the road imo.

a 991 actually mr d-tested a C4S cab this week-lindas new preference with room for the dogs in the back seats. i havent ruled out a spyder still if i can find one near the spec as the 981 whilst very nice for the month of loan didnt do anything special for meORIGINAL: MrDemonSo would a 981 by the sound of things ;-)ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Well it had the wrong seats, wheels and gears! That would be good. Do you have access to him? Would be good if you got him to drive both your cars, BEFORE the Spyder is done and then you can have his opinion on how your improvements have enhanced the drive.ORIGINAL: MrDemon Would love Chris Harris to drive the car now with these few simple tweeks and also get a west lap time at Bedford in it.
