Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Rob. Who are you using for track day insurance? I've used Competition Car Insurance in the past but could never find any other willing insurers. I'll give them a call in the morning (I know, lastminute.com [&:] ) and i'm going to do the afternoon session. You?

2 free trackdays with Porsche Insurance (Aviva really administered by Marsh). Got my cover note already and will be in good time for driver briefing at 0830. See you there, I'll try and get you a dry line ready for the afternoon session!

I'll be trying them come renewal time next year. Yep, keep a dry line going [:)] Haven't tried my helmet on in the car yet. There wasn't much room in the Cayman and that had good headroom. I expect the Spyder's roof is lower. Will try it out in the morning. Hope I don't have to go topless! See you tomorrow.

Hope I don't have to have the roof on at all - More headroom and no fretting about top speed! See you there.

Hi Rob It was good to catch up today. Was great fun on track, even though I couldn't keep up[:D] Was also great to catch 2 Spyders in print.

Great shot. What a brilliant day, PCGB at its best! Really enjoyed it, feel free to PM me all the photos or put them on here, we may crack 4000 hits! Spyder-tastic!

Yep i'm going to get them all over to you. Too knackered right now to upload them[:)] Keith took some of me by accident, thinking it was you coming around the track. Please could you send me those. Ta How did yours like this one come out? I should've captured the headlight on both cars.

I only got this one. Sadly, after Zeb's coat got nicked out of our garage last year I didn't bring my camera. Got this off my phone.

Good to catch up with you guys today. See the trackday forum for some nice on track shots of your cars taken by Mike Pollock. [:)]

Hi Steve Thanks for letting us know. Mike has done a brilliant job! I just had to bring one of the pictures over. For others who are not following the Oulton Park thread, the rest of Mikes brilliant pictures are here. http://s787.photobucket.com/albums/yy158/A9XXC/Oulton%20Park%20PCGB%20Track%20Day%2013%2011%2012/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ36

Hi Cecil and all 'twas me who went from Spyder to Spider. IMHO the Spyder is THE complete sports car package, a fantastic achievement. The 430 of course has its own charm, namely the engine and the noise and IMO has very forgiving neutral handling with a crisp turn-in and little understeer. The F1 although getting on in years is a gearbox well suited to the car and has converted me to that technology. Unlike the Spyder the 430 has more shake (not bad) but wasn't designed as a roadster unlike the Spyder. I was able to scratch the F car itch and am pleased to have done so. For me it says a lot that I traded a Gt3 RS for a boxster and with the Spyder you do IMO get a genuine pure exhilRTing sports car experience. Regards to all

Hi Andrew Thanks for following up. I was in the Ferrari dealership tonight as it was our region's evening at PC Wilmslow and the neighbouring Ferrari dealership stayed open for us. The Italian interiors were exquisite and the fact that the decorative stripes etc on the cars are painted on, rather than vinyl decals, is an impressive touch. I hope you've kept your licence intact[;)]

Thanks for putting those up, your phone clearly takes better pictures than mine! Discussions have opened with young Jamie and Wilmslow, I'm sure both parties are looking for the right deal on the last remaining Spyder!

Have you Seen 911 and Porsche World December 2012? Two pages 56-57 of White Spyder at Bedford Autodrome - suddenly we have more on track than the road[;)]

ORIGINAL: jdpef356 Great photos guys - looks like you had a great day - even helmets to match colour of your cars[;)] Have you Seen 911 and Porsche World December 2012? Two pages 56-57[/size] of White Spyder at Bedford Autodrome - suddenly we have more on track than the road[;)]
[:)] Thanks John. Yes it was a good day. It took me some time to adjust to the car bringing me to the next corner at a higher speed than the Cayman did. Also, because the more direct steering needs less input than the Cayman on the road, I sometimes under compensated or overcompensated at the track speeds that were higher than when I had the Cayman on track. I can't say I got it all right by the end of the session, the 2 chicanes in particular. Brilliant car but novice driver! I'd like to go again but in someone else's Spyder[;)] Surprised to hear that Spyder is featuring in a mag after production has ceased but before it's a 'classic'. I must go and have a read of that[:)]
