Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - sorry but the black on red additions do nothing for me![:-]

Looking nice Red John...when you see both the 987 and the Spyder together i will agree standard stock look best .The only thing would you not consider Boxster delete badge ,done mine and looks nice . With the new 981 i do prefer the colour coded front grills on the 2.7 to the black ones on the S . Brian

Thanks Red Brian May get round to doing the Boxster delete bit one day. I think I have said before on here. If I had a Black spyder I would colour code wheels, front grills, side vents everything black. I think the car would then look quite menacing until you looked at the driver![;)]

ORIGINAL: flat6 What is so great about using both a hand and a foot, wasting some of the engine's momentum by coming off the gas and having the clutch disengaged for longer than an automated mechanism.
And with the new GT3 being PDK only, in years to come that will be what everybody wants in the Spyder, making it worth a lot more than the manual! [;)]
It's true that some will want their classic 987 Spyder to be as close to the current technology at that time. It's already clearer, from F1, where the future lies and what is faster. So you may be right. Some may want a manual in their classic 987 Spyder as a novelty value as the manual Spyder is a great example of an old technology and they actually come from an era before the 987 when manual was king. They will chuckle with amazement at how difficult & slower it used to be to change gear but point out that it was quicker on the roads where the driver used his awareness of what was around him to proactively be in the right gear, vs the early PDK which lacked a little intuitiveness in auto mode (but then just drive it as a manual!!). Chris Harris sums it well in this review in that he accepts he only wants a manual because that is something he personally likes, from his era, and he can not give a strong case for it. He goes as far as saying that he didn't yearn for a manual when going fast in the new GT3 as there was no case for wanting extra work to do when driving the car on interesting roads at high speed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVdme4ISq8Y&feature=youtu.be It is natural human nature that some people take longer to embrace change than others. Some will take on the latest as soon as it is available, regardless. Some will wait until it is more developed and refined before adopting it. Some will always prefer what they grew up with and for them they're happier not to adapt. It then only becomes a problem when the choice is taken away. As Harris points out indirectly, the GT3 is just a name and some believe that name means the last of the great manual driver's car. To others it means something different and it hasn't been living up to that until it has caught up with the times. It's like changing from air cooled to water cooled. I'm too young to appreciate what all the fuss is about on that score but I do respect those who have seen the crossover and know more. In the same way, the upcoming generation of Porsche buyers will have no attachment to manual either. We're seeing the crossover from manual to PDK, but coming out the other side, the continued development will render manual pointless in all but tradition in the next few years.

A couple of years ago I drove a loaner Boxster S exactly like that and it did look good in the metal. The picture doesn't do justice to the Guards Red and black combination and the door mirrors and air vents etc. in black was a good combination. The car was a little bit more eye catching (judging by the one or two comments I got in the short time I had it) than the Guards Red Cayman that I owned at the time.

ORIGINAL: daro911 To me a PSE should be standard kit on any Porsche sports car and hats off to Jaguar who include it in the standard kit on the F Type V6S & V8 and offer it as an option of the entry level F Type
It's a fair point. Let all the sound come out as standard. Those who want it quieter or need a mute button should pay for a switchable exhaust.

ORIGINAL: carreraboy Unspent fuel in the headers ..... more pronounced on the shorter the system.
But in these new cars, are they deliberately causing unspent fuel, or are they just removing whatever technique they used to use to prevent it, to go back to the crackle and pop that happens naturally if you don't artificially mask it?

Am I the only one that quite likes like look of the Boxster Spyder rear badge over Spyder ? Would'nt mind a sticker version thou for easy of clean!

I keep changing my mind about the rear badge I wish is was not called a Boxster but it is, so therefore taking Boxster away does help when people ask what it is and you quote "Porsche Spyder" but then you are sort of lying and not wanting to call it a Boxster lol but then that's better than being called gay and hearing all the hairdresser comments.

When people ask and believe me they do ...what is it ,and i say a Spyder they say have never heard of one before or seen one before and i tell them it is a limited edition model and as far as i know the only one in Scotland in RED and one of only 6 in the country in this colour as far as i am aware.Have been to 3 show recently and it certainly the most photographed car .
