Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

So, a plucky Brit has put his car on pole for tomorrow's race. And even though the team is German they are based in Brackley, so we can take some credit for that too[:)] Let's hope he can hold off the 2 cars behind him in 2nd & 3rd that are also from a British based team[;)]

New page new pic Why this one? No reason, it was the first one that came to hand [:)]

Like the RED seat detailing the silver line- ali look was a factory option on 987's That 2nd RED Spyder has been for sale for a good few weeks now and is a cracking specification and very low miles too [link=http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201306237445926/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/boxster/make/porsche/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/page/2/keywords/spyder/radius/1500/postcode/cb14jt?logcode=p]http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201306237445926/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/boxster/make/porsche/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/page/2/keywords/spyder/radius/1500/postcode/cb14jt?logcode=p[/link]

He should've concentrated on lightening up the wheels with some silver rather than the door mirrors. Looks like its been wading through tar when the wheels are all black. http://teamspeed.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=92163&stc=1&d=1327798061

He may have done this option to his mirrors as I don't think that was a factory option on Spyders[&o] [link=http://www.kistudios.com/cayman-boxster-carrera-mirror-trim.html]http://www.kistudios.com/cayman-boxster-carrera-mirror-trim.html[/link]

ORIGINAL: rob.kellock You're not wrong. Liz's Abarth has wheels that are that sort of shade and they look remarkably similar clean or dirty. Does show up kerbing mind. She kept her 500 Lounge perfect for 2 years but she has now done the Abarth a second time...
Rob on occasions your silver Spyder alloys have looked that shade [;)][:D]
As much as I would like to refinish my wheels in the very reflective shiny Cayman R finish I think I will wait until my original finish is finished ..... might be a while at current rate of wear and tear [:-]

Is there any way to get infield parking for the Silverstone event, ? I was going to go with a race team, but now my options have run out and now can only get normal tickets. I will ask my OPC Monday see if they can pull any strings, but it seems doubtful now for club infield parking.

ORIGINAL: daro911 Summer is here[8D] and 1 of the 3 White Spyders on PistonHeads Monday are now no longer advertised so presumably with the new owner[;)]      [link=http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds?Category=used-cars&Keyword=spyder&KeywordCleanedValue=spyder&M=512&SortOptions=PriceHighToLow]http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds?Category=used-cars&Keyword=spyder&KeywordCleanedValue=spyder&M=512&SortOptions=PriceHighToLow[/link]

I don't know for sure, but with the way Porsche put options together and then have an Exclusive dept that'll paint or leather cover most anything, i'm not sure what you can and can't have. If it is a Porsche Exclusive option, then you may be able to have it from the factory even if it isn't in the Spyder options brochure. I don't know how it works. http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/exclusive/examples/boxster/boxster-spyder/

Well spotted Brian you are the first to notice them. Its my after market TPMS the monitor plugs into the lighter socket and if you have a deflating tyre even with the ashtray shut the audible bleeping can still be heard loud and clear As we have no spare this device can pay for itself with just one punctured tyre being detected before irraparable damage may occur http://www.steel-mate.co.uk/acatalog/TP-70-DIY-Tyre-Pressure-Monitoring-System-222.html#SID=30

Any opinion on how big they look in the flesh? Can the alarm be heard on the move with wind and music noise ? I thought about it after losing a tyre with a flat but was put off by size and thinking it was big enough to throw wheel out of balance?! Would be interested in an unbiased view, discount ends on 14th July. Thanks!!

VvrooomM unbiased view ... I fitted them to my Mini despite it having a pathetic factory system that has never really worked on any of my 5 Mini's to date and after losing 2 almost brand new tyres on my previous Mini I bought my first set and not a single person ever spotted them or made a comment! Fast forward a year and as I am about to leave home in my Spyder for a Porsche bash in Droitwich I can hear the dreaded sound of something in one of the tyres ... a bloody big screw in a rear tyre which was immediately repaired by local tyre company and I was able to continue my journey. After that event I immediately ordered another kit for the Porsche and again nobody has ever commented on the big boy cap sensors until hawk eye Kitchens noticed it the other day[:D] Wheel balance totally unaffected I haven't tested the audible alarm on the move but when I remove a cap to inflate tyres this triggers a no pressure warning and even with the radio on, air compressor pumping away the audio bleep is very loud and clear despite the ashtray lid being closed. When I am driving the car I check the pressure readings after a few minutes and then tend to keep the ashtray closed down but when I first got the kit I did leave the ashtray open 24/7 until my paranoid behaviour was back under control:ROFLMAO: Although the lighter socket is live 24/7 the readout gauge has it's own power off mode after the car has been stationary for about 5 minutes so no worries about having to remember to unplug it For the record the digital readout is 100% in agreement with my air pump which is 100% in agreement with my Halfords tyre gauge so much so I can now just use the air pump reading happily knowing it to agree with the kit readout The alarm goes off after you lose about 6lbs psi so there is plenty of air in the tyre still not to be in any danger or tyre wall damage zone Size ... I will post a close up shot which will probably look terrible in isolation but I must stress I have some very observant car guys for friends and to date they have never said WTF are those valve caps all about

VvrooomM Please remember these are close up shots so unless you are washing the wheels they will never appear as they do here[:D]
