I cannot get to sleep it's way to hot here. Might have to have a cold beer, I mean shower. O well hotter tomorrow.

I bit the bullet in 2010 and haven't regretted a single penny spent on 3 areas-units [;)] Even yesterday 30' here and the unit was set to 20' (can go as low as 18') and on fan speed 2 out of 4 speeds oscillating it can easily cool the conservatory, large kitchen area and into the hallway too! The bedroom units are left off all day but only need to run on auto mode for an hour max and they cut back too fan speed 1 or 2 again with temperature set to circa 19'or 20' When we return to single figure temps the units are a useful boost to heating system to bring the rooms back up to summer temps in no time at all[:D]

Insurance renewal time has come round again, used Admiral multicar last year for the Spyder and Golf 2.0 bluemotion. Spyder at 4k pa and Golf at 12k pa. Admiral renewal came through at Spy£480.03 with £500xs and Golf£301.43 with £160xs - did my usual trick of putting my details through as new customer, it always pulls the quote down which came in at S£463.65 xs£400 and G248.52 xs£160. Not bad but then started an internet comparison hunt and think I'm pretty happy, using Sainsburys Car Insurance. Golf £226.84 with £0xs and Spyder £209.88 with £500xs. Cannot believe the Spyder comes in cheaper than the Golf, the wife insisted on paying a little more for £0xs as she insists on maintaining her independence and paying her way. I am happy with a £500 excess and to be honest most places were not that much lower. Hastings Direct xs £345 but premium £350.32 and an unknown outfit 1st Central xs £150 but quote £389.15. £210 for a years insurance - don't discount Salisbury when the time comes, NO tracker required either!!!!

Yes found a similar result when I Searched the meerkat/market. Trying to ring a broker for a quote was at least double what the comparison web sites offered - and it was like for like. Needless to say you know which way I went - I am still waiting for my meerkat to arrive[;)]

I have been quoted by one of the new to Porsche magazine brokers Locktons and trying to get the quote was like pulling teeth [&o] After 3 weeks of waiting only to be told person dealing has moved departments and had to start all over again with new bod giving her all the history etc On Monday finally get a verbal quote and run through on policy which I requested to be emailed over .... still nothing emailed [] The quote is expensive compared to you guys 4k miles p.a. £500 excess £560.00 p.a. Back to the drawing board as soon as I get a minute

Think i have discussed this with some of you before ..I am with Aviva £240. excess £700 3k miles. protected NC bonus .clean record . garaged. a senior over 65[;)] I can also take it to a approved Porsche body shop as the one in question is on there list . I did get cheaper quotes but on balance was happier with Aviva . Did try the other sites and got cheaper but not looking for a cuddly toy .Simples [;)]. I did try Locktons but found them very vague as to what they offered, from memory the excess was cheaper but premium dearer .I do not mine the loaded excess I have been fortunate and never made a claim on any insurance in the last 20years fingers xxxxx

I'm in the same boat, i have a higher excess but it does bring down the overall cost, i'm with Admiral at the moment and as with others on this site, i have found that i made big saving looking for insuranace as a new customer and then asking them to renew at that price, it does seem that with all things insurance if you just roll the policy over for another year, they see it as an excuse to overcharge you. On aonther note, what was the largest gathering of Spyders here in the UK?

A recent track day in Anglesey saw a few get together - not sure how many but someone will come up with a number. We have a dedicated Spyder Display stand in the Porsche Club area at the Silverstone Classic. Just Four cars Registered. It will be interesting to see how much attention they get[8|]

It looks like it will be a good weekend, lets hope the weather holds. Will look forward to seeing the pictures. Is the Spyder stand part of a larger PCGB stand?

Stuart On the Sunday I believe that (only my estimate) the PCGB Club stand will be over 2000 cars once the parade lap has taken place. I am not sure but understand only a few select groups, such as the Spyder will make up the clubs Officials Display.

So the question now is: how long is the hot weather expected to last? There are signs that temperatures will peak over the next couple of days with hints of a change to something more unsettled towards the end of July. • Nick Grahame is the chief forecaster at the Met Office[][][]
