Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

I am going to get some V-flow intake kits for my car and another member with a R they are far cheaper in the USA but the postage for one was $77 which killed it, if I order say 5 units then the post is worth doing from the USA. it's the best filter system for our cars any one here want one ? they will be $320 + shipping + duty etc so no idea of final landing price in £, but way cheaper than buying one from the UK.

"Evolution Motorsports proudly announces the release of the highly anticipated V-flow Air Induction systems for the Porsche Cayman S. Engineered utilizing state of the art CAD CAM 3D modeling, CNC machining, computer controlled Superflow air flow testing, rotational molding, injection molding and countless man hours, these systems represent the apex of air induction technologies. All of our systems install in the factory location and utilize the OEM “ram air” fresh air ducts for lower air intake temperatures and added power. Additionally, our systems also incorporate a custom cotton air filter and a 6” injection molded Venturi that acts as a vacuum for cold-air. All these components work together to create the most powerful Porsche air intake systems on the market today. This system adds 6-8 HP/TQ. When ordering, please specify year, and decklid type. Patent Pending" another pic from the car show last week

"England heatwave warning spreads" "UK Met Office raises heatwave warning to 'level three' for south-west England and the West Midlands" a warning ffs we went to Rome and is was 42 that was hot, this is nice :) (ok it's a bit hot) but a warning ffs it's a bit daft. walk round rome in 42 and you know it's hot I can tell you. last year we went Barcelona again 38 no warning at either place. what's wrong with the UK it's only 28 !!!!!!!

Walking round Rome is certainly a different heat experience, have got that T shirt. As regards the weather warning, never underestimate how stupid some (most?) people are. PCGB members are generally the elite. I'm looking after a poor lad this morning whose MOTHER has 18 previous convictions for 23 offences including prostitution, violence and most recently served 3 1/2 years for robbery! Her allegations against him are certainly stupid...

Don't know how you do it Rob - that lad hasn't got a chance at life really.

MrDemon - I'm intrested in a V-Flow filter, what do you think the total price would be? and shipping times? also wonder it be much different to this? [link=http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/boxster_porsche_987_gen2_engine_induction.html]http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/boxster_porsche_987_gen2_engine_induction.html[/link]

I know these reps of the v flow, design 911 also sel a rep. dare we take a risk or get the real thing ? they are £350 in the UK for a v flow I would guess at worse case the same lol at best case IE customs fees etc £280 they are £210 + all the fees VAT customers shipping etc as for lead times very fast the world is a small place these days so just a few days. I am just getting a price for 5, but they are a bit behind us time wise.

So how would the 987 Spyder have done if it had been thrown into this mix [;)] All the facts & figures below are Jag followed by 981 stats http://porscheboost.com/content.php?3656-Road-and-Track-compares-the-new-981-Boxster-S-to-the-Jaguar-F-Type-S-at-LimeRock-Who-wins Road and Track compares the new 981 Boxster S to the Jaguar F-Type S at LimeRock - Who wins? Road and Track decided to take the Jaguar S and the new Jaguar F-Type S to Limerock to see which sports car is the best. Now, the Boxster S is the highest performance Boxster that Porsche sells with its 315 horsepower 3.4 liter flat-6 (shared with the 991 Carrera). The Jaguar F-Type S is the mid-range model with a 380 horsepower supercharged 3.0 liter V6. There is a V8 Type S model above with a 495 horsepower supercharged 5.0 liter V8 although the Boxster has no answer for it. So, there is some overlap as the F-Type can be aimed at either the Boxster or the 911 depending on trim. Looking at the engines one would think the Jaguar would be much faster but it isn't. The Boxster actually is slightly quicker in the 1/4 mile with a 12.6@109.7 versus 12.7@110.0 for the Jaguar. The Boxster's 684 pound advantage in curb weight shows. The F-Type needs more raw power and torque just to keep up and it also has a traditional automatic (with 8-speeds) versus the Boxster's 7-Speed PDK dual clutch transmission. The Boxster just makes more efficient use of its power. What about around the track? The Boxster S simply dominates the Jaguar. The Jag's weight distribution is 53/47 so a bit of weight from that supercharged motor on the nose. The Boxster's mid engine setup offering 44/56 front to back weight distribution is more conducisve to high performance driving on the road course. Combine that with almost equal acceleration and less weight and you get the laptime result seen here: Lime Rock Park - Lakeville, CT Lap Times • Porsche Boxster S - 1:02.33 • Jaguar F-Type S - 1:04.49 Just over two seconds for the Boxster S or basically an eternity around a road course when close to a minute per lap. The Porsche is the superior sports car. Road and Track puts it best, "The Porsche's superiority was conclusive and absolute. It could go deeper into the turns, the brake pedal alive under your foot and telling you exactly what was going on. The Jag could go almost as deep, but without the feel for the limit." As Jaguars often are the F-Type is pretty but it is more about looks and how you look in it rather than offering the best driving experience on the market. For that, there seems to be no substitute. Case kicked out so the right outcome was achieved. That makes it worthwhile. CPS were really bullying me for a guilty plea so I'm glad I stuck to my guns! Mr D - thanks for the offer but I'll keep my car stock whilst its under warranty at least. Whether I renew that again I'm not so sure.

I just went to try and buy a Fiesta ST with my other half. lol I do wonder about low end garages, the sales guys were mental, saying we could not afford one and refused a test drive in their demo car. I guess I should have turned up in the Spyder or the R, not in my camo shorts and t-shirt !! I asked again if my other half could test drive their demo and they said "no" So I said our time here is over good bye. he then chased us out the show room shouting "you are not serious buyers" I think they were on crack. so stay well clear of Lutterworth Ford" they are mental. Now I know why I buy Porsche, they make nice coffee and if you need a loan car you get to use a 991 C4s worth 120k. I guess saying a car is good on top gear gets the rif raf in , but we hardly look like chavs, I am 44 lol

I went in to OPC West London and got completely ignored for twenty minutes, so I never got to find out about how good the coffee is!

No way would I accept that treatment without emailing the MD and seeing him grovel his way out of that one. I know lifes short and don't sweat the small stuff but if nobody brings it too the attention of the directors this sort of crap will continue to win the day [:'(]

I phoned Ford UK customer service, but they wanted none of it and refused to take a complaint !! I have posted on Lutterworth ford face book page if you want a laugh https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lutterworth-Ford/154057577997357

Believe it or not was down South for my sons wedding and my other son and i went into Porsche Reading just for a nose around and where completely ignored we went outside to see the demos and them back into the showroom for a second time .The staff seemed so engrossed in doing a hand over to a costumer in a Black Cayenne as there 2 little brats were in and out of every car in the showroom causing ma-ham .Eventually as we where leaving a telephonist /receptionist asked would you require ant assistance .So it is just not Ford

Back on the insurance topic, i'm with Kithchens & Stuartelec - gamble on a higher excess & get the premium down. I hope I dont have an accident that is my fault and I hope my car doesn't get stolen. But I feel comfortable cashing in on the saving and if either of the above did happen i'd be more gutted about the event than the extra £500 or so that i'd whacked on the excess. Mine excess is max'd out at £1100, which was initially driven by trying to get my premium under £2K on my first Porsche. Thankfully now my premiums are much less, but i've left the excess up there. I think my premiums started so high as I didnt have many years no claims, coming from a company car.
