Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: Steve Brookes Oh, and here's a pic for Flat 6....I snapped it at our Spa trackday last year. The owner took it around the track until it got black flagged for noise. [&o]

I expect the excess noise was the wind rushing by[;)]

Can you just imagine rocking up to a track day in that beast. What a laugh that would be! I agree about Oulton - I was planning to let a couple of the summer events get out of the way but will be happy to round up the usual suspects and try and drum up additional support!

ORIGINAL: daro911 Looks like the RED private Spyder has been traded otherwise its another identical example in RED[:D] http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/boxster-987-05-12/porsche-boxster-987-gen-ii-spyder------------------2011/1635254# http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201307257985707/sort/default/usedcars/price-from/30000/model/boxster/make/porsche/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/postcode/n20ax/page/1/keywords/Spyder/radius/1501/image-id/252046353?logcode=p
Headrests and rear electric windows - missed those options!!

Thinking back John, I think I got that wrong. IIRC now, it was an M1 that kept getting flagged for noise. The GT1 had a moment on a kerb and damaged a corner of the front splitter so just parked it up for the rest of the day. Still made a fine figure in the pit lane. [:)]

Steve Nothing like a close up! [;)] I always imagine when standing next to these or 917/962 Group C cars in Pit lane that it coming to the end of the race and a driver change is due. Its the last stint and all I have to do is jump in and do the last twenty five laps. It puts the fear of God in me!

ORIGINAL: Andy Fagan Had a good 4.5 hour drive from Laddingford Kent back to North Wales, Traffic was horrendous! wasn't easiest of jobs getting out when I arrived home [] On another note, my current insurers (Hastings) only wanted an extra £68 to swap policy (Comprehensive) which runs till February. I have been quoted as little as £230/year from Swift and I have had 2 similar quotes of around £600 from Porsche specialists Mannings and our PCGB partners Lockton. These latter ones will allow repairs at an OPC and will include unlimited track days so I am tempted to use one of them come February [8|]
4.5hrs! And traffic. Well, that must've helped you quickly decide if you've bought the right car; if you love it after a journey like that, you'll love it anywhere[:)] I was also surprised by the incremental premiums going from my gen 1 Cayman S to Spyder. The 2.7/2.9 is not a bad car in 987 guise but it must feel like a bargain to go to 330hp for such little extra on the insurance (and servicing costs not breaking the bank either). It's a great package and the Cayman is crying out for another 'special' I think.

ORIGINAL: daro911 Am I the only Spyderman on here who really likes the look of this despite the missing side stripe[;)]

For some reason I prefer the one you found below. I think the design seems to flow more. Although, grafting on the hoops from the 918 onto the one above implies it could be a targa, which may attract more buyers than our roof. Which one do people prefer?

Its the white one for me (although I would like to see both cars in the same colour) The Goldy coloured one seems to be a bit balky - perhaps for the US market?

I am easy as my roof "never" goes on but if the Targa version was as open as this photoshop job I would be happy to have that as one lift off panel is no hardship at all even for the full electric current Boxster owners to handle[:D] If the 981 Spyder ever came to be with the 918/Carrera GT style lift off roof panel then our Gen 1 Spyders would be very serious contenders for classic car status sooner rather than later but I can't see the design team or bean counters letting their most exotic cars to date sharing a design cue with their entry level sports car[&o] Can you?

So - Had my wheels / rear badge painted in gold a few weeks ago - and now looking at the air intake surrounds... I also am tempted to do the wing mirrors - but am not brave enough to do that permanently, and would like to just get the mirrors wrapped. Anyone know if you can get wrap in the correct colour codes, as I spoke to one or two, but they only had an off the shelf gold colour - which wouldn't look right. Cheers simon
