YOUR SPYDER BIG E WELCOME TO THE CLUB AND WEB

Siy, whilst I lean more towards maintaining the factory look, your personalisation is subtle, tasteful and really works[:)] You didn't end up with something like this, which only works on a GT3! (and even then, not quite like how it's done on this Spyder[:'(] )

Taking the below black car colour combination as an example where the accents are all silver, I think it'll finish yours off nicely if the P O R S C H E side stripe matched the wheels and air vent surrounds. Whatever you choose it's worked out well[:)]

I really think the side stripe in Weiss Gold is really going to complete the personalisation stunningly but obviously removing the factory stripe is a BIG decision to make[&o] In for a penny in for a pound [;)]

ORIGINAL: Big E Hi all New Spyder owner here. The guys on the Porsche forum on Pistonheads pointed me in the direction of this rather epic thread! Spec: PDK Sports Chrono Sports Exhaust Carbon seats Air con Stereo Bought from Porsche East London a few weeks back. Really enjoying the car and coming from a V8 M3 it feels very direct and the difference in weight is apparent. Lacks a bit of straight line grunt over 70mph but well worth that trade off for the cornering ability.

Welcome on board Big E. There is indeed plenty of info on here and plenty of discussion amongst owners of Spyder and R. Too much to mention and I did collate a lot of the earlier pages but cannot remember where[&:]. Still, you'll find some magazine reviews on page 1, but if I was to shorten the recent discussions into few sentences it would be: [;)] We've talked up a consenus that the lightweight Boxster Spyder wheel is an essential item on these cars, so much so that Porsche will no doubt charge for them as a hefty cost option next time round[;)] The bucket seats are highly desirable because they do their job whilst maintaining comfort so they're not too far a compromise and they're in-keeping with the car's chassis dynamics. (Andy, if you can't live with yours, just say the word and i'll swoop in and save the day with an amazing swap deal[8D]) That said, Sports seats, PCM, climate control and some other options really aren't Spyder blasphemy and there more than one highly desirable set-up. What is missing or colour is more influential one holding some of these cars back from selling, rather than what they're loaded up with. Prices are all over the place and show no signs of a trend. There are also no signs of the title of this thread coming to bear, so we're here for a while longer yet[:D] We all look a million dollars on a Boxster budget and still can't get used to the celebrity style attention we're gettin[8D] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We like to understand the minds of buyers as we put our heads together. If you don't mind sharing, what were your 'must have' options when you were buying yours?

I suppose it counts the same on a CR so my list of options were:- Must Haves 6 speed manual A/C Buckets Would like to haves were PCM/Sat Nav Sports Chrono Bi Xenons Extended leather Sports exhaust Cruise control Bose system Bluetooth Silver paint What I got:- 6 speed manual A/C Buckets PCM Sports Chrono Sports exhaust Bose system Bluetooth Cup Holders Reverse sensors Carrera White (Which I'm glad about now) Black painted Spyder alloys Aux audio input thingy I knew I wouldn't get a car with everything I wanted but I got most, and I'm having Cruise retro fitted on Thursday for £234 plus £85 labour which seems a bargain at OPC prices.

Nice spec, while it's in get the short shift fitted :) And I know you are going to track it stock, but I would still say get the OPC to give it -1.2 neg camber at the front. Other wise your track day will be ruined. Think I did 4 laps on my 1st track day it is so fustrating. Put it this way if you track your car , you will right off your front tyres, which is cheaper ? A few members here have done the camber change, it makes the car.

I'm on board... Weiss gold P O R S C H E stripe will finish it off nicely. Now, where are those brave pills...

I think Andy will be ok. So long as there are no GT3 boys sitting round his car ready to "challenge his opinion"... I'm more worried Bout how he'll get on with the standard brakes ;-)

I thought the camber angle was adjusted by having GT3 bottom arms which are shimmed? Is there adjustment on the strut/hub mounting or strut top?

Yes it is a concern Rob but I think I'm going to have a chat with a good buddy of mine at Tweeks who is very up on all the new brake compounds etc. Standard pads don't dissipate the heat enough and also transfer it through the caliper to overheat the fluid.

ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Disappointed I didn't get to see Cecil this afternoon, not just as 3 Spyders were at the Oulton Park Gold Cup. Despite all the exotica, my Spyder seemed to attract a disproportionate amount of attention all day.

And I got there so late that I rushed to get around the place and forgot to take a pic of my car. So i'll have to post a pic of Silverstone Classic instead[:)]. Was going to park next to yours being that it was end of row, but i'd have been blocking the way. Whose was the third Spyder?

You got very close to your list. Is it your daily driver aside from your work vehicle?

Yes as in I don't have another *car* but I don't use it every day. I tend to use my van for just nipping to shops etc as I don't like to do lots of short runs from cold. I only did about 5k per year in my Boxster.

regarding the camber, yes here is mine, just move the top 3 screws and you get -1 to -1.2 OPC charge was £120 all in for the full geo and adjustment.

Don't know who the 3rd Spyder was. PDK car that looked nice enough.

OK Cheers. Was there a reason you used the OPC and not a specialist? I have Demon Tweeks just down the road and they have good geo set up equipment

no one local, and the OPC price was good at £120 in all. I had both cars done and GT3 ducts for the brakes and the 7mm front spacers. I did the ducts and spacers myself, nice to have a little hands on.
