ORIGINAL: daro911 Did the Spyder have a specific VIN No sequence or are the VIN's for all 987's chassis following the same pattern I was just wondering how the Feb 2010 Registered Spyder at PC Bristol has a later VIN number than my previous March 2010 example [&o] The Feb registered car for sale is Vehicle Ident Number: WP0ZZZ98ZBS740161 which is 31 later than my old car
Yes and this has long been my arguement about vins as they give a better factory age vs registration date.2011 model year equals early 2010 to may 2011 wpozzz98zBs740001 to circa 0999 and 2012 model year equals may 2011 to early july2011 wpozzz98zCs0001 to circa 0170 this does not include North America VINs.

correct and yours is one of the last 2011 MY cars.Hence when I purchased in December 2011 I looked at the VINs as some cars were older than mine(factory build) but the same money although registered about same time. This is the case with many Porsches built after 2010 up to present day just look on the opc website at new pre registered/demo cars. Why? because the number of new Porsche cars built to order has decreased over the years and dealers are for ever increasing stock.I believe more 981s were sold/registered in one year than the whole of the 987.2s life span!

The '.' by the 4 is to indicate AM for those who do not have the clock set to 24 Hour format.

In the meantime I'll just keep driving my crappy spec Spyder and enjoy it... [8|]
I have never bought a car for anything other than the thrill per mile it can deliver If it happens to become a classic in my ownership that is a just a bonus if it happens to go South in value won't dent the joy and pride of ownership one iota for me [:D] Just wish the bloody weather would change for the better as I need to go for a nice topless blast

If anyone wants a good one, this must be one of the best[;)] Very recent... http://www.911virgin.com/porscheforsale/796/BoxsterSpyder(Manual)/

If that 911 virgin car would have been for sale at one of the OPCs i would have of bought it when i started looking for a Spyder about 3 weeks ago. It was the only one for sale then and looks a cracker. As for the usual talk of carbon seats, i am going to have to make spacers for under the front of mine. I can not get used to how upright you sit in them. Should be an easy job to do so as to recline the seats a little.

I have the opposite need to raise the rear so i can see over the dash need to get one of those booster seats [:D][:D] at present i have a piece of foam under the rear of the squab and it works o-k and gives a bit of back support . Maybe i should have gone for armchairs instead [;)][;)].But until another RED one comes to market ,it is staying .

My vin ends in 0920 and was delivered to the OPC on Sept 11 and is registered on the V5 as a Sept 11 61 plate registration , then it was sold to the new owner in March 12 with 40 miles on the clock He then sold it back 1 year later with 1850 miles . It will always be a Sept 2011 61 plate even though it was made months earlier

This over supply of cars must be damaging in the medium to long term as Porsche pursues its targets of higher production numbers and sales. So many cars going straight into 'used ex-demo' status when individual OPC we're showing up to 6 such cars at one time. Huge discounts being offered on new cars too. OK the profits will still be good selling cars this way but the residuals in 3 years (especially for those who paid list), might make some of those new car buyers wonder if they should do the same again and spend £60K on a 981 with their desired options. Will an OPC want your 981 when they have a whole line of them in 3 years. And you know how derisory the part-ex offer will be if they don't want your car. After sales service might suffer too with the volumes until they increase headcount to keep up. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
