Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

very true, I respect his business model now he has ditched the "bug price bull **** lol " it's still not a model like cars of Malton or Top 555 or Tom Hartley though. It's a business model for nice Porsche cars for the run of the mill buyer. I tend to hunt out top tier high end cars, and I don't find them at 3rd party dealers. be it my GT3, my Noble, CSL or my R etc etc, I paid top money for top end cars at the top of their game. And while I don't class my spyder as top end as many people have nice mint top end Spyders (cannot be many shit ones out there un loved yet ), my GT3 and Noble were in the top 5 cars in the UK no question. Spec is key for any of the cars I have owned to get top money back and I pay top money to get them. the issue is miles kills top end cars , I lost a shed load on my CSL as I paid top money and then put loads of miles on it. My R again I paid full top price for it, the most expensive for sale at the time , but it's piling on the miles quick time, added 8k to it over what I bought it with already !!! but I find it fun seaking out the best of the best and also as I don't buy new I still don't losee as much as buying a new car and selling it, although, I did buy my TTRS new as every one I went to look at was not great condition, so I just say **** it and bought a new one. I lost 10k on that though lol have aGT3 pic today, you won't see a better one ;-)

Well you all look at it with blinkers if you have not been in the trade. You have to remember he may have to take a real leg-end in part ex ....or he may have to offer substantial discount if no part ex. Also he has to spend money reconditioning/Detailing the car, and he will give the buyer a warranty which he will have to pay for and which wont include or pay for the fiddley bits and pieces that a lot of buyers will bring it back for. But you can always buy privately if you want to take the risks

I recall about this time last year a Silver spyder came into Cambridge. I dont think it even got onto the showroom floor. Two guys were fighting over it on the Saturday morning - I don't recall the price, neither do I recall the winner. ie I have never seen the car or the owner at one of our events/club night. The only other Black Spyder I have seen in Cambridge was sold by the Bentley agent (who had the white one last March) I often see this Black one, its used as a day driver and I often see parked in a wholesellers car park. I may just pop down to PC Cambridge and see car and ask what response if any?

Must be £46K for 5 reasons correct wheels: correct gears: correct seats: No mileage: Our forum[:D] Let's face it had it been the correct colour too it could have been £49995.00[;)]

Whilst true in the general trade, I don't think that's 911V's model. I believe it when I read on their website that the hardest part of their job is finding decent stock. I don't believe they discount (unless something had really hung around for too long) they don't buy third party warranties and cars like their Spyder won't need much prep. I rather suspect that p/exs are not a problem / financial risk for them, they will have outlets for them and retail the gems. Don't get me wrong, I know that each car they sell has to contribute towards the cost of running premises, staff wages, prep on the cars that need it, advertising costs, accountants fees etc. It's not a walk in the park by any means but I do respect what they do.

Welcome on board Tom. Gives us a new angle to discuss on here. I don't have much experience in buying premium sports cars as I'm only on my second Porsche, so can't comment on the buying and selling and car dealing as a business.. I did wonder though if any buyers had ever asked you if you could source some Spyder wheels for a car you've had for sale without them? I guess it's easy to say no to that request because there'll eventually be a buyer come along that'll take the car as is. The spec debate is so interesting. One minute it is said that heavily optioning the car devalues the Spyder. Then it is said that low spec cars are the cheapest. I thought they were supposed to be the best? OK the 911V car doesn't have buckets so isn't launch spec but I don't know if it could command a penny more with buckets. If it had buckets and PCCBs (PCCBs weren't on the launch car), personally I'd want to charge a premium for a car in ultimate performance, lightweight trim (despite PCCBs being shunned by some & even myself is cautious of them). Personally for me, if I was buying a Spyder new with my OWN money, I'd only spec Sport Chrono & Leather on it for my personal taste. That's how cheap a Spyder could be for me. (Buying used , the list of nice to haves grows). The 911V car might be what someone who wants a car not heavily optioned but is too large to fit in buckets, has been waiting months to find. He can retrofit SC if he needs, as others on here have done. Or, it might hang around for an age, contradicting the lightweight/low spec theory. Let's see which way it goes... [:)] Stick around Tom. Will be very enlightening for both sides of the fence [:)] EDITED TO MAKE SENSE!

Talking of prices PC Wilmslow have a Cayman R for sale in black. last week it was up for £41,995 today its up for £44,288 Cliff

ORIGINAL: DarrellWilson This Cayman R Looks good value. http://www.strasse.co.uk/cars.asp?car_id=193&page=2
Red is so rare and the colour I was after, it can only be PDK stopping that car selling within mintues. Very rare to see red and even rarer to see xenons.

The Red R does look nice! Don't think i have ever seen one for real! In regards to Spyder prices vs spec, i think its all over the place! Phil

I think Wilmslow must use an algorithm for adjusting the price of their stock as they seem to move the prices by odd amounts. How they decide to put the price up on a car I can only think is due to the status of their whole stock and monthly targets and what they can afford to hang onto into the next month if it doesn't sell at its new inflated price. They've done it a few times. Any of you car dealers know what they're up to?

PDK - that must be it, couldn't possibly be number of owners (not seen how many), condition of bodywork, attitude of dealer, part ex price offered, condition of interior - smoker?, accident or repair damage done poorly, dealer location or availability and comms, says full service history but not OPC, warranty, bald tyres - who knows!! By your own logic you can ONLY be an eegit!

Play nicely, this is meant to be a respite of pleasure for enthusiasts with a shared interest! Strasse ads always interesting on the back cover of Porsche Post. I always felt if they go to so much trouble with their ads the cars should be OK.

Have to agree with RobK. To be fair MrD hasn't trashed anyone's opinion and is entitled to a view of the market that perhaps very few share[;)] We know that [:)] Would be better to wait for a return to his old ways (and maybe he won't) before getting stuck in. The better behaved MrD of late has allowed a much better playground [:)] Long may it continue[;)]

That GT3 RS 4.0 looks stunning. Glad to see it being used but clearly not enough[:D] Have sat in one and started it up. To have driven it would've been awesome but having never driven a GT3 of any description I probably wouldn't have fully appreciated its upgrades. Are those PEC experiences worth it if using your own money?

Took me months to get over driving a red on grey 997 GT3RS around the low friction circuit at the PEC. Even starting it up was exciting! Think the kids say OMFG !

Have just received an invite from the OPC i bought my Spyder from . Tuesday 11th March Test Drive Plus and i quote ...Designed to enable you to evaluate the Porsche S PDK in a number of different driving environments ,the event will include the opportunity to experience the dynamic handling characteristics of the cars away from the public roads with a Porsche Driving Consultant[;)] The event will last 1.5 hrs near St Andrews the home of golf ,i suspect it will be at Crail raceway a disused airfield .Considering it will be approx a 4 hr round trip for me and i have an afternoon slot may consider staying over as it is a lovely part of the country the East Neuk of Fife . PS nice pics but not Spyder weather up here , wet and windy and tomorrow looks even worse
