0-62mph 3.7 secs No Fears of upsetting R8 owners[&o]ORIGINAL: MrDemon I have had enough of the Porsche bullshit train of late. over revs, N spec tyres, cannot fit a Bosche battery, 200% costs for a service, £150 for oil, etc etc and now GT3's catching fire or spinning in a straight line at 50 mph. I will prob get the mk3 TTRS from Audi when launched, my 2010 420 BHP TTRS was great inside, great build and that 5 pot engine is to die for. I could also fit what tyres I wished with out issue.

Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Well if they can get over £30K for a CatD, only time will tell. The value of Spyders with higher or lower mileage is fairly close, such is the demand. I guess they would start above £30K given the buoyancy of the current market, but like you, it woudn't be my first choice when for a bit more you could have a pukka example.ORIGINAL: daro911Can't see the point here unless it's cheap say circa low - mid £20k's It's a private seller so a mint example would fetch what today £33k but Cat D has to be 25% plus less [&o][&o]
Change of topic. Just wondered if any of your Spyder or R people have changed your rear number plate bulbs out for led white brighter ones rather than the old yellow looking ones. Tracys 981 looks nice white and crisp where mine is yellow looking. If so what bulb make did you use? Cheers Cliff
Hi Cliff ... The LED's weigh more[] and if you have Porsche Warranty they will get very upset with any electrical issues £39.95 bottom of page if these are the correct spec for your needs http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt70_1394_-cma81-cmo539/Porsche/997-MKII--911--2009--/LED-SMD-Bulbs/ORIGINAL: CLIFFWILKINS Change of topic. Hi Guys I have been asked to supply a Spyder for a photo shoot. Details are here http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=816607&mpage=1&key=󇗟 If you can help please let me know Regards Tracy
When that hit thr road how will Porsche respond with the 981? Proabably not at all as they have a loyal following based on the sublime handling of their cars. Although, the Cayman didn't put the 1M to shame, so will Porsche be able to sustain the resistance of its sub-911 followers to look elsewhere? http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/cargrouptests/276505/bmw_1series_m_coupe_v_porsche_cayman_r_audi_tt_rs_nissan_370z.htmlORIGINAL: daro9110-62mph 3.7 secs No Fears of upsetting R8 owners[&o]ORIGINAL: MrDemon I have had enough of the Porsche bullshit train of late. over revs, N spec tyres, cannot fit a Bosche battery, 200% costs for a service, £150 for oil, etc etc and now GT3's catching fire or spinning in a straight line at 50 mph. Had mine in for it's 2 year service today and health checked all green. I got a 981 Cayman 2.7 as a loan car and quite honestly I couldn't wait to get mine back. It had "Some" nice features like the electronic display on the right of the clocks, and I preferred the chime for the reverse sensors. The wipers seemed more efficient and the brake pedal felt nice and firm but that's really as much as I liked. First dislike was purely aesthetic, I much prefer the lovely curved wing of the 987 you view through the screen rather than the angular look of the 981, and the overall exterior look of the car hasn't taken me yet. The suspension was softer than mine but when it hit a bump it seemed to boom through the rear and the rear tyre/road noise was also noticeable. I didn't like the electronic handbrake although the steering wasn't as bad as I expected, in fact it felt ok really. The gear change was notchy and imprecise compared to mine. All in all I don't think I would consider one unless the GTS version gets it right [8D]
Nor me, the new cars do nothing for me at all. Rather have a golf Gtd and call it a day on sports cars than spend 65k on a new cayman. Get back in the R and you feel alive again. Fine line on what feels fun imo and the R not only beats it's new rival, it also beats the gt3's as well. Perfect sports car.
100% agree with that []ORIGINAL: MrDemon Nor me, the new cars do nothing for me at all. Rather have a golf Gtd and call it a day on sports cars than spend 65k on a new cayman. I think that aesthetically the new car is a huge leap forwards but that's just personal preference. I think one of the big changes is to the gearing which is much longer and can make it seem a bit slow? I think there is also a step up in quality and the ride is better resolved but it is a bit too BMW relative to an R.
The other thing about the 981 I forgot to mention is that the clutch felt really woolly. It was as though it had a hydraulic anti stall built in. No sharpness or feel to it at all. [&:]
PDK suits them better I think, all hi-tec like the dashboard, stop-start, etc. I do like the position of the gear lever though. Wonder if gen 2 981 will leave the manual option available?

First "hood down" trip of 2014 .Queen Sq Bristol. tomorrow morning.
I don't get the leaps and bounds, I would buy one if it were that good, but the nasty crease line in the wings ruin the car and it looks like a MR2 and now has a 911 feel. no real diff, electric hand brake, centre consol which in a mid engine RWD car seems daft and makes the cabin feel cramped, and the electric steering, it is in fact an Audi !!! and with that respect for a nice car I would save 20K and buy a Audi. my loan car was "like a golf" so to that end LIke I stated you may as well just buy a Golf, unless it's all about status then you buy a 911. I don't see a Cayman Market now, I would take a base 991 non S over a Cayman every day of the week. you get the BHP to 350bhp and 2 usable seats and that status. I bought the R because it's like a usable GT3 and give you a hard on when you drive it. The new Boxster has a market always will, but the new Cayman seems to have no market to me. Boxster to 911 seems the only choice !ORIGINAL: dyllan a friend of mine has just collected his new 981 cayman and is thrilled with it-leaps and bounds better than his gen2 pdk s(his words not mine)
That's exactly what I meant when I said earlier "I much prefer the lovely curved wing of the 987 you view through the screen rather than the angular look of the 981"ORIGINAL: MrDemon , but the nasty crease line in the wings ruin the car and it looks like a MR2 and now has a 911 feel.
