If only it had a go faster stripe on it... I like it but could never buy a new Cayman as long as it costs more than a Boxster - Jaguar gets this right with the F-type - coupe should be cheaper not dearer. How the hell Porsche continue to get away with that I do not know.ORIGINAL: Andy Fagan And the Cayman GTS is even less exciting http://www.porsche.com/uk/models/cayman/cayman-gts/ Absolutely nothing distinguishing about it [:'(]
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/jaguar/f-type/86194/jaguar-f-type-coupe-v6s-2014-review Take the price for example: the F-Type V6 Coupe costs £7,285 less than the Convertible, which means it starts at £51,235 – that’s similar money to a Porsche Cayman S with a PDK gearbox. not me for one. firstly its going to cost circa £60/65k once fully specd so thats about £25/30k to change for what an extra 10hp.the car like all 981 in imho looks rank the interior is so audi it even has an audi tt spoiler!dont get me started on the cheap looking front and rear PUs,kia tailights etc.so it most likely drives nice and is quicker than a spyder/r but it will not be rarer or more of a drivers car? the question we should all be asking how do we get the extra hp/torque and what porsche bits do we need to do this! i for one would love a 340hp spyder with the increased torque is it only an ecu upgrade?or has something been changed internally?if only an ecu upgrade then really is no different from a standard 981 S with the parts bin raidedORIGINAL: philnotts99 So who's tempted to swap there Spyder or R for the new GTS then.........................

To me that looks like a normal Spyder thats been sealed and pumped up with air till it nearly bursts. so real world cost is circa £30k to change once driven out the showroom[] what i do like is that you can spec.leather interior with leather buckets for £2k you can even have them heated. i could see the point in changing if you had a 987.1 but any gen 2 and whats the point!ORIGINAL: philnotts99 Then loose 10k on it straight away!

50-75 mph in 5th gear 987 spyder =6.1 secs 981 cayman gts = 6.5 secs. 0-160kmh 987 spyder = 10.8 secs 981 caymanGts =10.6 secs these are manual gearbox and porsche official times so who wants to loose £30k for 0.2 secs to 100mph[][][][][][][][][][][]

Here is the info I received from Parr regarding upgrades. The guy I spoke to was Lawrence Stockwell. It was good to meet you on Saturday and further to our conversation please find further details on the upgrades discussed for your Boxster Spyder: Parr fast road geometry set up £225+vat Switcheble Cargraphic Stainless Steel Sports Exhaust (15Bhp/15Nm) Power- and flow optimised. Without catalyser. 11KW(15PS) more power and 15Nm additional torque. £2044+vat fitted Parr Performance Remap & High flow filter (18Bhp/19Nm) £600+vat fitted Not interested in the exhaust as I already have PSE but £600 for an extra 18bhp doesn't sound badORIGINAL: spyderwhite The question we should all be asking how do we get the extra hp/torque and what porsche bits do we need to do this! i for one would love a 340hp spyder with the increased torque is it only an ecu upgrade?or has something been changed internally?if only an ecu upgrade then really is no different from a standard 981 S with the parts bin raided
Isn't there something from removing secondary cats, which I thought are in the Porsche system?
So if the GTS costs less than an S with the same options, it truly does undermine the S. Where is Porsche going with this, so early into the 981 lifecycle. I agree it'll be the best ever. But then its not hard to keep improving when there's always a little left on the shelf[]. We already know that the engine was good for 350HP 3 years ago [] As close to a Spyder as we're going to get. Well, you may be right but then it isn't a Spyder, so isn't even close. It's an S with 15HP extra. To be a Spyder or R it needs enhancements in all the other places we know about. For me i'm solely comparing it the S to be fair to it, but still don't understand what the S is for now.ORIGINAL: daro911i haven't done the maths but the LP difference between an S & GTS is £6k and for that you get £8k worth of kit i.e. the PASM: PSE: Sports Chrono: Sports Seats Plus with Alcantara : Bi Xenon PDLS Smoked Glass Lights: 20" Alloys:CDR with RDS not to mention the extra 15bhp plus a much more sporty front and rear end ... All in all this is about as close to a Spyder I think the 981 will ever get (certainly for the foreseeable)[] Will it be the greatest driving Boxster / Cayman ever ..... My money says it probably will be []ORIGINAL: flat6 My oh my, this is woefully underwhelming. Apart from the extra 15HP, is it then just some options included as standard (PASM, PDLS and SC) and some cosmetic changes? Not even a new wheel design for the whimsical or a chassis modification for the chargers. So to get 15HP more you have to take the GTS package. Does 15HP more really define a whole new model? It's a gen 2 at best, surely? It'll sell because it now the top model but with such little differentiation it undermines the S making it simply the option if you're on a budget. What's the point in getting the S other than its cheaper[&o] Spyder / R vs S made sense and there's enough reason not to want a Spyder/R other than price and vice versa.

Think I'd quite like the Cayman. The Boxster has never really interested me (I wouldn't have one were it not for the Spyder). My only issue is that I'd want sports chassis, so paying extra for that is a double whammy - chucking away the standard PASM which is an option on other cars but paying for the sports chassis... Doesn't really make financial sense. Perhaps Porsche could've given it as a no cost option. Wonder what the residuals after 3 years will be like - better than an S? The 997 GTS is holding up well price wise- any reason the CGTS won't do the same?
Me tooORIGINAL: zyp The Boxster has never really interested me (I wouldn't have one were it not for the Spyder).
