Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: zyp Think I'd quite like the Cayman. The Boxster has never really interested me (I wouldn't have one were it not for the Spyder). My only issue is that I'd want sports chassis, so paying extra for that is a double whammy - chucking away the standard PASM which is an option on other cars but paying for the sports chassis... Doesn't really make financial sense. Perhaps Porsche could've given it as a no cost option. Wonder what the residuals after 3 years will be like - better than an S? The 997 GTS is holding up well price wise- any reason the CGTS won't do the same?

New page new pic Oh no not another one![;)]

Ah, I haven't been able to look at the configurator yet so assumed it was a paid option. That could sway it for me.

No cost option - LOL They are the masters of their game aren't they. You should get a grand back if you choose sports suspension!!

You can now get Carrera White Metallic £580 very nice with full leather interior & buckets for under £2000 an options Spydermen were denied and possibly glitch on the software but it is allowing me to spec heated buckets! How cool or rather hot is that option if correct

imho the gts is only worth purchasing if you like something shiney and new are coming from another brand or have a gen1 car.yes its a great package but to change your spyder/r to one at a huge cost is madness.i could understand if you had the spyder and wanted a coupe but to sell the caymanR for a cayman gts what do you gain?

Just specced one (Cayman, won't bother with the Box) to £65k - but it looks stunning in the Carmine red. I can feel itchiness starting to rear its ugly head....

Watch out for your buckets.... Especially you Spydermen with only a suncap http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/10703514/The-Audi-seats-being-stolen-to-order.html

Early heads up for any budding spyder owners or lurkers. My 2011 plat silver, climate cooled, pdk with chrono, bucket seated and spyder wheeled, pse, nav, bluetooth, rear park equipped car will be on the market shortly. 10 months porsche warranty and MOT, new tyres, 12400 miles. Probably mid April due weekends away and a weeks holiday meaning i will not be around much and didn't want to disappoint any prospective buyers responding to pistonheads advert. Feel free to PM Cheers VvrooomM

ORIGINAL: zyp I'm just wondering how the car would feel on sports chassis and 20" wheels - feckin' hard, I reckon!
Probably kill resale value more than a stock PASM car pretty much the same deal with the full leather buckets seats for £1900 plus probably worth £1900 less than a stock car at resale [:D] My dream spec GTS runs out at £63k without sat nav so my dream spec 981 Spyder could easily hit late 60's if not £70k[]

Mine was 65.5k without PCCB which I would love again. So a little rich for me over what 2nd hand cars I could buy.

[:D]all good fun but back in real world can it offer any more thrills £ for £ over or above our current "unique" model? And how long will it take for the numbers to sail past our 200 odd in total [:D]

nope :-( I'll keep what I have........ said it many times before, if I buy another sports car it will have to be a F430 :)

If you like it buy it[:)]. The cost to upgrade is of the same magnitude as the S but this enhanced car will make it an easier pill to swallow. My only disappointment is not with the car but Porsche's lack of direction for the model. It's a great car as it's closely based on the S which is already a good car & I think the new front end looks pretty cool. What's not to like. To me its similar to the Black Edition which was another good package, with the Spyder/R engine tune to boot. The difference there was it was introduced as a special edition 'S' model at the end of the product cycle. As such it wasn't a radical change over the S but then wasn't to overshadow the S for long as the 987 was coming to an end. The 981 GTS is certainly the one to buy as buying an S now would be like buying a gen 1 when the gen 2 is available at a comparatively good price. I reckon a 981 Spyder is a long way off but as this GTS leaves room for more enhancements, it seems more likely to me that we'll get a Spyder than I thought before. So there's enough time for you to buy and enjoy the GTS & then also buy the Spyder when it comes [8D]
