Hmm... Hard one, stick and wait or twist again! The short shifter would be nice but the box is so good I find the standard quite satisfactory. The PSE is not for me I like the exhaust simple and while the standard is quiet at tick over it sounds great under acceleration. The chrome PSE tailpipes are joined and this can be seen from behind, while the standard has the two pipes going separately all the way back to the pipes from the boxes, which I think is more attractive. The car has Spyder wheels and buckets which seem to be the two key items and i suspect a private dealer may discount more than an OPC, no harm in seeing what it can be bought for.
It certainly doesn't look drive or feel £100k less of a car either. What value these mid engined gems were and are today [8D]ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Rob, with due respect to your brother, your Spyder looks even better than the Speedster in those photos! Together they look sublime.
Forgetting the extra power the biggest differences were much heavier steering, which I quite liked, a far more compliant suspension set up PASM really works well on the Speedster and of course it has a proper folding roof In other respects feels less sporty due to all the extra mass and metal around you With only 19 UK cars and according to DVLA Apps only 9 still around today its one rare Porsche indeed []ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Spyder has a better behind!! You must post on how the Speedster drives in comparison.
Having done just over 1,000 miles in mine, I wouldn't want to be without the PSE although it still seems far too quiet even when on. The Carnewal/Gert modification to the standard exhaust would be what I would do with that car. Not sure if I have this right, but I thought no dealer other than an OPC could offer, or transfer a Porsche warranty? Is this a SOR car?ORIGINAL: philnotts99 For me its missing the PSE and Short shifter. About 2.5k worth of parts i would have to add. On the plus side, its low miles, opc warranty until 05/03/2017 and has had the full fat major done. Phil
I agree refs PSE but would say that my current PDK 2011 example is far more acceptable volume level than my manual 2010 previous Spyder My nephew has the Carnewal modified boxes and I can confirm whilst they were brilliant on my 987S 3.2 on the dfi 3.4 they are not that impressive and way below tone and volume of the PSE. Today I would go either for a PSE or possibly subject to hearing one of these http://www.akrapovic.com/#!/carORIGINAL: tyinsky Having done just over 1,000 miles in mine, I wouldn't want to be without the PSE although it still seems far too quiet even when on. Rob please "Sub Forum"[]ORIGINAL: rob.kellock The award winning Boxster Register is in very fine fettle and it was great to meet Tracy and Cliff at the weekend. I think I persuaded Tracy to let us carry on this Spyder thread for a bit longer []
Must be SOR. The last car they sold went very quickly, this one is more expensive so they're obviously confident of the value. They're a very good team there and have some excellent stock.ORIGINAL: tyinskyHaving done just over 1,000 miles in mine, I wouldn't want to be without the PSE although it still seems far too quiet even when on. Interesting how they differ. Also the design philosophy I think is different. With the original Speedster focussed on weight saving perhaps the latest one is not but looks like a very collectable edition. Took a while to grow on me and the Sport Classic made of more an instant impression. But who knows in the future it may more likely be the open top types who splash the cash on this type of special edition 911. In coupe form I fear the racier types like GT2 RS and GT3 RS 4.0 may become more collectable than the Sport Classic. Only my speculation[8|]ORIGINAL: daro911Forgetting the extra power the biggest differences were much heavier steering, which I quite liked, a far more compliant suspension set up PASM really works well on the Speedster and of course it has a proper folding roof In other respects feels less sporty due to all the extra mass and metal around you With only 19 UK cars and according to DVLA Apps only 9 still around today its one rare Porsche indeed []ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Spyder has a better behind!!
