Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Discussion point? Just one OPC car left but why wont it sell? Low mileage, good spec, fairly priced today for such an OPC car with 2 years warranty. Is it because it it black? Is it because it is too dark - black body, black wheels, black interior? I've now warmed to the 'black on black on black' Spyder and think they look pretty cool (though my preferred colours on a Spyder are white, red, blue, then black, in that order). Is it the lack of PSE? It's not the sports seats as there are plenty who want those and plenty who don't care which seat (and plenty too who want buckets of course!). It has climate control which is often a must-have alongside sports seats in a comfort spec. It's not the transmission [:)] What say you?
It doesn't have red detailing inside but grey which makes the interior look very sombre and the overall condition of the car is not great plenty of swirls in the paintwork and plenty of heavy handed careless ownership damage and marks to the dull interior Overall it is not an exciting looking example in the flesh as is

IMHO it's the 'third' black that's mainly the problem. I guess if this had silver wheels then it would have sold already. Three blacks just look too much to me, it looks like it's trying too hard to be a hardcore street racer, without some of the necessities like PSE, but it then has all comfort extras. Just too many compromises for it to sell quickly. Sure it will suit someone looking for their first Spyder experience that just doesn't want to wait for the 'perfect spec' If anyone fancies changing from silver to black wheels there may be an opportunity to do a swap deal with the OPC.

My money says - Not without serious cash changing hands :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Got to be the black paintwork, as said, never again. It is hard to keep a white car looking good whilst using it, black is just too much work. The drivers seat looks shabby and those marks on the roll hoop pading. Just too much against it to get a quick good price sale

As previously said perhaps the third black is holding this back. I did like the black car with the Red interior on her some time ago. Condition. Show me a car that has rips tears etc and I will assume the worst. Previous owner did not care, OK if it was an accident and the marks/rips appeared I wold have had them fixed! You have to assume that its what you cant see could also have been treated in the same way and neglected[:-]

Seems there's a couple of key factors coming through. 1.) The car's condition isn't as good up close compared to the advert photos. 2.) The colour combo OK, we had much debate about the price of the 61K miler, some thinking it was over-priced and some thinking it was a bargain. How do we think the OPC should adjust this one to sell it? I'll sit on the fence and say they should spend a few quid to rectify the cosmetic issues rather than adjust the price[:)]

Anyone who was in the market for a spyder and has seen this has probably lost interest now - even if it was straightened out you know what was there. Things like this should be sorted prior to cars going to the forecourt. The car should be detailed so it looks like it just left the showroom. No just like it had finished a rally. Cars of this age should be pristine! Any buyer is going to insist it is done anyway! I cannot understand any Garage/Seller hoping to make a sale with that damage.

as robert says,it really did look rather shabby -unlike almost all the other cars in the showroom at hatfield i am at a bit of a loss as to why they havent prepd it properly-maybe they thought they could shift it-"cos its a spyder"and thought they could get away with it?? but we are a discerning bunch and even when the spyders fly off the shelf we will still not tolerate a "poor"example

Hi Dyllan Sounds like you are shifting a little bit of focus back onto possibly getting a Spyder. I'm going to add you to the Spydermen list[;)]

My boxster s has gone and I am porsche less for possibly 3-4 months while we finish Poole build. I still keep coming back to Porsches most beautiful car .... I would snap up,the white/carrera red interior at park lane if I was 3 months ahead as it would be the perfect seaside car [:D] I am confident the right one will be there for me but may take a bit of waiting for . Shall keep glued here for any movers!!!

That would be good news Robert -it looks a Lot better cared for than the Hatfield one!! My ideal spec is heated sport seats(dodgy back) PDK and preferably bi xenons ,(but this may not be a deal breaker)-although I wasn't originally looking for white I do think white suits the Spyder well .and although I don't like marmite!! I Do like that red interior[:D]

I'm helping a friend find a nice Spyder.... We have A couple of cars lined up to view this week......any other owners looking to sell or lurking on the forum, please get in touch. Cash buyer ready to go, for the right car. Ideal spec is; White. Spyder wheels Buckets <10k miles PDK or Manual. Low number of owners. Well maintained with recent Porsche service history and some remaining warranty would be nice! Cheers.
