every ones going to be happy with their choice, that's a given. The 3 R's we have listed are all manual so 100% ;-) On piston heads where I hang and cause trouble you just see a lot of people moving on PDK cars to the next latest and greatest. and there does imo seem a pattern of owners depending what car they have come from. or why they are selling and what they are buying after a Spyder. the biggest weight is the PDK add on, which is way more than any roof or door swap out. A new 981 Boxster with no spec can be lighter than a Spyder with spec these days. doors 15kg roof 21kg total 36kg can soon be offset with PDK, AC, PCM, and sports seats total 52kg. so you see, Porsche do the hard work to the effect of 36kg and some of you guys add it back in to the effect of 52kg !!! the ride and handling is all about the shocks imo. not the roof and doors :) but I'll also take the full 90KG weigh saving well mine is over 100kg weight saving now with ti exhaust, Battery and I don't carry the roof at all :) my car out drags my mates PDK Cayman, and even my fully loaded bloated more BHP Cayman R. so while I don't give two hoots about weight these days it does in fact play a part when you can be 100kg lighter, esp in the corners and under braking than a normal run of the mill Cayman/Boxster. 981 boxster with buckets, no AC and Sports chassie would prob lap faster than a Spyder now and of course be lighter than a fully loaded Spyder.

Well said ....that boy talks sense [;)] My car is Manual .SS Bucket Seats . Spyder Wheels . SC .PSE RPS .and of course the important 2 cup holders [;)] I would have happily have gone for PDK as my last 3 Porsches have been Tiptronic . I bought the one i have because i liked it and it ticked all the boxes for me if it had had PDK it would have been a + for me . I am not in the least bit interested in the difference in the 0-60 times if mine takes longer so what!! get as much pleasure out of ownership as i do driving it .It is such a special car and being one of only a hand full of Red ones adds to the exclusivity of the car .

According to my How Many Left App the stats are as follows:- Spyder Sticks x 113 Spyder Paddles x 86 Cayman R Sticks x111 Cayman R Paddles x 119

I hear you MrD. I just think that cars become collectable based on a number factors. Some of those factors are around the story behind why the car came to be and not that the car is the most superior to drive (look at the classic 911 Speedsters). Some is down to performance, bragging rights etc. and the PDK launch control, which I do not care for at all, has some bragging rights there. Then as you say, every kilogram of weight shed aids ultimate performance and handling. I agree with that (to a point - some systems add weight but aid performance more than their weight deficit. That often applies to transmissions like in Ferrari's and the new GT3, whether the market wants them or not). Even if the PDK buyers are moving the cars on more often (will have to take your word on that), who is to say that they are the ones with big money to buy a Spyder at top price if they want to recapture their youth in the future. They'll buy the one they like. Meanwhile you have other types who are more focussed on the back to basics spec and see less value in any car with options. However, so far, from what i've seen with the cars high on spec, such buyers are paying good money for them. The cars low on spec, the people who prefer them that way are picking up bargains because they typically sell for less. I've never seen a low spec Spyder or R with a heady price tag. Maybe such a car with PCCB brings in the buyer who's looking for all things optimised, but in general a basic car on steels with very few options attracts little attention and a low price tag. That yellow Cayman R at PC Exeter should be commanding a premium - rare colour and rare spec. I suppose the floor mats and cup holders are letting it down [&o]

Who else has had their manual car from new? I thought it used to be that PDK cars hung around and didn't sell because no-one wants them and anyway in 20 years they will be worth less because they're "wrong". Now the issue is, too many of them have sold? [:D] As the rarest of the lot, I'd predict PDK Spyders to held their values very well.....

Your Boxster is in the bodyshop being prepped. I had a quick look around it and it looks to be a nice car. Thanks for selling it to us. We will pick the wheels up next week from Hatfield. Given your profession I suspect you know Om Chawla. He's operated on me twice in an attempt to sort out my long term sinus issues. Take care and sorry we didn't get to meet Cheers Tom

Wish I had your negotiating skills! Mine is due its 4 year major service next month - can you ring Bolton OPC for me and see if they'll do it for £500? [:D] Wishing you every success Tom, there seem to be a lot of "deposit taken" cars on your site, you have a great business model.
