Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

I serve nice coffee and the wife will serve a 4 finger kit-kat in just her undies. Speaking of the PEC, I've another full day there tomorrow. [:)] (...and quite handy that there's a Lotus dealer on site...WTS..)

ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Yeah right [:D]. Don't feed him! Very very few private buyers will pay OPC money for a car that doesn't have 2 years warranty, easy finance, guaranteed minimum tread on the tyres, minimum standards for brake discs and pads, paintwork etc, loads of come back, posh coffee, massaged ego and a day at the PEC.
I will buy and sell on condition , private cars are normally the better cars, I sell private at dealer prices, people view the cars and make a choice, my cars are normally better than any dealer offering. be it CSL, Nobles, GT3, Lotus etc all fast selling private owned cars by me. also for me as a buyer I feel safer buying private, daft as it sounds, dealers end up buying blind and buy a lot of ringers people are to conscious to sell private. All main dealers do is send out a sales girl or guy, they walk round the car, check tyres, and check for dents and give you a price, the car could have a gear box falling out for all they know. I have refused many a dealer car once turning up to collect after leaving a blind deposit. I did buy a ringer private once, but I part ex it lol,, that's just what people do...

i would quiet happily buy a car private as most dealers secondhand cars have not been good quality for the money they ask and the poor trade in they give you on your own car, although i have had really good trade ins on new cars though plus discount on the rrp. a 2 year warranty can be added, minimum tread is only 3mm,discs and pads are good for 20-30k and as for the paintwork at opc swirl marks any one.finance is cheaper doing yourself my last porsche cost me 0.79% ( that was added to my mortgage at 0.29% over base and fee free)and gave me the advantage as a cash buyer.

+1 most dealers do nothing in preping a car for sale apart from allowing a few test pilots ill treat the car! plus the supermarket style hand wash hence never let them clean my car after a service

ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Yeah right [:D]. Don't feed him! Will watch Spyder prices and weep from the sidelines for now. Who knows where they will go in the medium term - if they carry on as they are they will be worth more than they cost new within 4 years of release which is astonishing and may well be unsustainable?
some spyders are already selling for the same new sale price ie a new spyder could be had for (£43-45k) in late 2011. their only going one way as in the main there is not a lot of 981/991 love yes the payroll journos hype the new cars up but they do it to every new model but its not what they would buy!

Evening chaps, Sadly due to a dramatic and sudden change in personal circumstances I now will not be joining this elite group. At least for the time being. 911 Virgin have been superb in every respect and my decision is not in anyway a reflection on either them (especially Tom who is a top bloke) or the car! Happy and safe motoring and I will watch with interest who will be the next lucky owner of that stunning black Spyder.

Sorry to hear of your changes and hope you keep following the BIGGEST Spyder thread in the www [:D] Look forward to hearing of another Spyder purchase at a future time Best of luck[;)]

Excluding the Cat D there are now 9 Spyders for sale [&o] great time for any cash buyers poor time for any wannabe high priced sellers Late May 2013 the choice was 13 and the prices were same as today's Now the Spyders have a lot of competition coming from 2012 used 981's makes for interesting times[:D]

We all dooomeddd! lol.... However it does give the buyer the upper hand with so many Spyders for sale. Has anyone put a letter of intent in for any new Spyder / GT / RS versions to the dealer?

This was always going to happen as owners of 2010 cars come up to their 4 year services and some see as a cost effective way to move on .also some owners of 2011 cars are now coming perhaps to end of 3 year finance plan.as more cars become multi owner and pile on the miles good low mileage 1/2 owner cars with a nice spec or the spec one is looking for will become harder to source!last year there was sudden surge of 3 year old 997.2 gt3rs and prices slipped now they have gone in to hiding and prices have soared!

As for the 981 there is not much love for them!just take a look at opc stock and try to find a low mileage 3/4 year old 997.2 or 987.2 they are few whereas the 991 and 981 are many when if there was a lot of love for the new models it would be the other way round!i can see prices of new pre regd cars having heavy discounts when the 991/981.2 cars arrive ie a 981s costing rrp £60k for circa £52k !its happened before but the spyder will remain a constant

Any spyder/r version is still at least 2 years away and will be 4 pot turbos or if they make a gt4 flat 6 with a 3.8 it's going to cost north of £80k and fully kitted nearly £100k as porsche see the profit potential

ORIGINAL: philnotts99 To be fair, my dealer told me that the 997 is becoming very popular and they cant get enough of them too.
I rest my case I have been on the look out for some time for a nice low mileage late 2010/11 997.2 for a friend and have only seen one or two that fit the bill in over 8 months and they have sold very quickly! Even a nice low mileage 987.2 caymans is hard to find and prices have remained pretty firm
