Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: daro911 I see Mayhem911's old Spyder is on the way shortly to its new owner[8D] via 911V. One down one to go
That could be me I think, on it's way to Aberdeen soon all going well. Nothing I 'need to know' about this car I take it ?? Apart from the 'wrong' wheels I guess but I think they suit the car quite well. Sandy PS - Oh and PDK of course !!

Thanks, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh next week. So all going well I'll have a longish journey ahead of me next week, my only real concern is the roof if the weather's not great. Is it actually fully weather proof or just sort of shower proof ?? Anyway will report back, this seems to be a pretty busy place with lots of good info anyway.

No personal experience despite owning Spyders for over 3 years but Rob K and flat 6 used there cars in all weathers and even kitchens got his soaked a few times and they are 100% waterproof

Yes, properly weather proof when both parts of the roof are in place (excepting maybe one drip of water from the rear edge of the side window if it's lashing it down). Certainly is a different beast from the Caterhams I had prior to it, if that is your concern.

That's good news thanks, I sort of thought they were but just wanted to doouble check from some personal experience.

calling fire2 or Andy did you keep your seatbelt when you had a harness ? as there is only one swivel point to fit a belt too also people with harness's do you carry about a seatbelt end to stop the bloody thing chiming

Sandy welcome on board I am sure the hood will stand the Aberdeen weather .I have had mine out in very heavy rain and stood out all night in a rainstorm and not a drop inside the cabin. It can be a bit noisy at motorway speed and a firm ride but you have or had a hard core Porsche before .Look forward to seeing you at the Annual Concorse meet in July

Back the truck up abit!!! Did u say unplug the exhaust switch? Tell me how. I love the note and don't want to have to keep flicking the switch. My little red beauty going for a full valet before Le-Mans next week, can't wait!! [:)]

Thanks for that, it can't be too bad if it can withstand the weather in Aberdeen then. Hoping to catch a few dry days this summer but not sure if I'll make the Annual Concorse meet yet, we'll see.

Hey buddy, I had to relinquish the Spyder Admin post when I sold the car[:)] I am smitten with my current ride too, so there's only so much smittany I can afford my ex[8D] If you click quote on my post on page one, copy the text, click edit on one of your page 1 posts and paste it in there. Then you can take over adding the new members[:)] Welcome Sandy and Tim R. Is it stupid question Tim to ask if you have a Spyder or Cayman R?

You can't resign!!! Spyder thread is like Hotel California. You can check out any time you like but you can never leave! Would have got soaked had I been in the Spyder today coming back from Cornbury House. Weather so nice down there I'd have taken my chances! Cruised back at 85 / 90 leptons via M6 toll etc. Got 34.4 mpg!! PDK and lots of "gliding", I reckon Spyder would have done about 28. I do really miss my Spyder which is a far more engaging driver's car but wow, the 981S sure impresses as a package.

flat6 just because you sell your Spyder doesn't mean you can relinquish your Membership Gallery admin duties - invention ... It's your baby for the life of this thread which as a founder member you want to be around in one form or other when we get the BIGGEST Spyder Web in the entire www awards sometime real soon at current rate of hits

[:D] I'll certainly be sticking around here. It's the best corner of the PCGB forum IMHO[;)] RobK, the 981 is certainly impressing you in the ways you no doubt expected and its clear where the Spyder shines for you. Do you have PASM on your 981? If so, how do you find the Sport Mode?

No PASM. Don't think it needs it, standard set up is very good. Unlike the steering (after the Spyder) which is nearly very good. Truly brilliant car though. 99% of the time [;)]

Hi Flat 6 Definitely a beautiful Gaurds red Spyder!!
