Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

werkstat is great on the decals also :) I have stopped claying and now use a spray called iron-x or others like it that does the same job but contactless.
Contactless? So you just put the bottle next to the bit of bodywork you want to clean and it does it for you? Liking the sound of that - I can sit back with a beer whilst it does all the work! Joking aside, I've noticed around the number plate and under the spoiler has very ingrained dirt from the exhaust - would this stuff shift all that?

Better power to weight ratio than Spyder and 0.5s quicker to 60mph, be interesting to see how it compares stepping out of one into the other. Sure someone on here must have owned one.

I like the noise, but you will get 12 mpg real life, it's going to feel heavy also, I ran the M3 V8 compition for two months which is the class leader and it was not that great imo. The thing is every new car you try is fun for a month or two it's after that, hence why I have owned 50 cars as I get board quick. Depends where you drive I guess , the c63 will be a great cruiser and power slide king. Filling it up at £100 every week will soon piss you off , and resale is crazy bad on these petrol eating machines now. Never owned a Merc as I don't like the brand much after a few friends owning them and all the issues and hassle they have had. My M3 looked the part went very well but was a far cry from my old CSL.

It wouldn't be an everyday car so the fuel's not a major issue and I'm not attracted to it as a cruiser [;)] Be interesting to see how it fairs as a potential weekend car for those spirited drives out. Like you, love the soundtrack, but it will be the handling that's the key test and I suspect you're right that it will be fun for a little while, nevertheless one to tick off the ownership list.
 
Bon Voyage to those who are making the trip to Le Mans. I hope Porsche's return is successful. Only one week left until we should be pretty much packed and ready for our trip down to Florence [8D]

He made it himself and has a large Porsche crest and |Porsche logo on the front end looks great ....... so will be able to put the bed sheets back on our bed now[:D] [:D] Keep up the posting ...will have plenty of reading when I get back no doubt . We got all the Boxsters together for that photo shoot Caymans next month. The silver 987 is Tracy s old Boxster now owned by Wayne a Cambridge member.

If what we hear is true, then the next addition to the Cayman's lineup, thought to be named the GT4, will break that unspoken rule. Currently, we've heard of two scenarios – the first being that the Cayman GT4 will get a 3.6-liter flat-six, and the second, the 911 Carrera S' 3.8-liter boxer unit, possibly de-tuned. Given that, the new Cayman GTS' 3.4-liter engine has 340PS (335hp) and the 911 Carrera S 400PS (395hp), the GT4 should produce somewhere between those two output figures. Power will likely be transferred to the rear wheels through Porsche's PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission, unless the Germans surprise us and offer a manual gearbox as well – fingers crossed. It's not only about the power, though, as the Cayman GT4 will undergo a diet and shed some weight, while also obtaining a more focused chassis and, as you can see in the pictures of the prototype model, an aggressive aerodynamic kit with new bumpers, front splitter and a huge, fixed rear wing. Coming from a Spyder to this car gave it a lot to live up to in terms of driveability. It's no Spyder and I won't be watching prices and all that good stuff that you can do with a rare car like guys have, but i'm probably as happy as you Rob with taking the plunge into something different[:)] Now back to Spyders[:)]

Went to our regional club night last night. The turbo received much admiration, with it's distinctive gaping nostrils, general purposeful stance, super clean engine bay and Guards Red paint. Was a spirted drive on the way home as my mate in his red 991 Carrera left a few mins ahead of me and I wanted to catch him up. Throwing it into roundabouts was fun. For all I used to read about the turbo's weight, that isolated statistic on a piece of paper has little relevance. I've always found power to weight ratio a more useful statistic (which is why I was previously interested in tge 237bhp, ~900Kg Alfa 4C). I've not yet done the calculation on the turbo's power to weight ratio (and likewise torque) but it's clearly high. Yes more weight affects cornering and a very heavy car like the Veyron may neutralise it's weight with superior power though struggle around corners, but I think the 911 is small enough and it's wheelbase short enough (shorter than a 987) to make it handle well. Does it have more power than can be used on the road? No, it can be used. It'll take you to 50,60, or 70mph in a blink of an eye and you're still legal, but you got there much quicker than a mode of transport could justify you need to. But I see this car as a toy, not a mode of transport, more than any other car I've owned. It's the driver to sharpen their reactions to release the throttle when reaching the desired speed, rather than considering the car to be too fast for the road or too fast to control. I find it fun trying to get abreast of how this car performs and sharpen my driving reactions - great fun toy. Porsche sticks wide enough rubber on it for it to transfer it's power to the road, so everthing is composed. I've yet to push it in wet weather to see if it is more composed than a 987, which was prone to wheelspin when getting off the line, being mid-engined. So, yes, I have bonded with the car daro, but still have a long way before I could be anyway near getting past the honeymoon period. Here endeth the digression before I get told I am in the wrong place[:)]
 
P.S. daro, the same question can be asked of the Spyder. It too can be very fast our roads. Forget straight lines for a mo. If you take the Spyder on a twisty B road and brake as late into corners as you dare (and the lightweight Spyder is mighty under braking) you will be carrying serious speed into that corner and it will keep you busy carrying that through the corner; the engine revs at that speed will keep the engine on song and it'll blat you out of that corner. The difference with the turbo may be that you might enter the corner fast by accident if you're not keeping up with the car whereas you may have to be more daring in the Spyder but that is down to the driver to get the most out of the Spyder and both can generate speeds that can be deemed unnecessary to get around a British road. Straight line speed isn't that amusing for me whereas acceleration, braking and having to steer quickly is and in the right environment the Spyder is no slouch and will keep you busy if you drive it how it can be driven. Speaking of acceleration, it was amusing that the turbo accelerated so hard that when it dislodged my phone from the cubby hole in the centre console, whilst I expected to find it on the floor in the passenger footwell, it was actually collected by the passenger seat! I guess you could say it accelerated quicker than the acceralation from gravity could act on the phone to take it to the floor[:D]

Can't imagine what a 991 turbo must be like or even a 997.2 turbo with PDK. Certainly won't drive one to get my head turned[:D]
