The red private sale Spyder no longer on Pistonheads tonight and my old manual minter at JZM has been reduced to just £2k more than 911V sold it for back in January[;)]

ORIGINAL: zyp I've constantly dithered about selling mine but just can't. Four new tyres have just gone on and the warranty will be renewed in August. If you need four seats do what I've done - keep the Spyder, and I'm about to order a new M3. I think it's a great drive and will be nice to be able to take the family out in a decent performance car.
the new m4 was at the ring on show quite a hard core thing.

Drove it around Brands last week. Good.....very good in fact but not anywhere near the driving experience of a Spyder. If you could have both in your fleet then perfect. Had 6 hours driving the Spyder today, to and from Festival of Speed, it is such a fantastic car. Had a passenger who's just bought a 991 turbo S and he was wow'ed with Spyder's handling and ride.

ORIGINAL: Siy Doh!... that's not what I needed to hear Daro - I wasn't even 100% about it, as I like you agree it is a far better car to drive than most things you can find. Its just having the two extra (poor excuses for) seats will mean I use the car more often... What to do!!!???
Sell and get a 911. If you need the two extra seats (guessing they are for smaller people?). No point owning something that doesn't fit in with your needs IMO.

Been watching GFS all day great link ..thanks for the heads up D also available on PH site Some stunning cars I liked the Spyker Spyder it was stunning looking /Flat 6 I hope you did no see the Alfa 4C being driven into the straw bails ouch !![:(]

ORIGINAL: Sandy59 Well I picked this car up from 911 Virgin almost couple of weeks ago now, and must say it's been all good so far.

Terry from 911 picked me up from Heathrow, the car was pretty much in showroom condition as described, and the whole buying experience was very professional and relaxed. These car specs seem to be a hot topic on here, but for me this one was pretty much spot on. I probably would have preferred a manual but due to long legs this was out, so PDK it had to be and I'm getting on with it no problem so far. The wheels for me really suit the car, as do the bucket seats, wasn't too fussed about other options to be honest. I did wonder about the vinyl dash before seeing it but that soon became a non issue. Initial impressions were very impressive, car felt very tight and responsive etc, and the sports exhaust did sound great. The steering I think is excellent although not quite as much feedback as my previous GT3 maybe, at lower speeds at least. The car just looks the part as well, nothing but very positive comments from everyone so far, including various GT3 owner friends. My other half who is just not into cars at all took one look at it and said - Wow that's the best car you've ever bought, can we go to Italy in it later this year ?? - High praise indeed !! We have some decent roads in NE Scotland, and after driving a good few miles over the weekend on them I'm really bonding with the car, just feels great to drive and seems to suit these roads very well. I think the Alps would probably suit it even better so will see how that plans goes. I did have some initial reservations about the roof and how weather proof it might be, but driving back up to Scotland through some torrential rain was no problem at all, very impressed. So all in all I'm really pleased I bought this fantastic car, and look forward to getting some more exciting miles on it throughout the summer month(s) !! Thanks again to the previous owner Stuart for telling me a bit more about the car etc, and looking after it to a very high standard. Cheers, Sandy
Just to add, I had my first 'quite spirited' drive on my own the other day, what a fantastic handling and involving car !! As much as I loved the GT3 I think this is much more enjoyable on decent B roads, should have bought one sooner I think. Of course not really news to you guys on here !!

I think we will all agree with you there !!...are you coming down next week for the R2 Concourse to Blair Castle ? we had two Spyder's last year

ORIGINAL: philnotts99 It would just be the front bumper. I'm 50/50 on it. Pro's and Con's to both sides. Same with the badge. Some days i think yes, some days i think no ! haha Otherwise, yes i 110% agree, its a beaut!!!
Phil if you do decide to get this done there may be some merit in waiting until the end of the summer. It seems modern paints can be slow to harden and if you use the car immediately after painting it can pick up marks again very quickly. If you leave it to the end of the summer you might have the opportunity to let the car sit in the garage, for a few weeks, to harden the paint.

ORIGINAL: jdpef356 If I recall correctly Brian its your turn this year to pick up a concours cup![:D]
Don't know about that ... we have a few that have high standards at least Kenny is out of the frame now[:D][:D][:D][:D]

Brian it's a slight possibility at the moment, it would be good to meet up for sure, will see what happens. I'm going to Alford SpeedFest tomorrow with my 968 CS, not sure if I can manage all that cleaning 2 weeks in a row !!

Sandy was your GT3 a 996 or 7 as my one hour test drive in a 997 was definitely not as much fun as my Spydering to date[&o] I found the ride very firm the soundtrack somewhat lacking but I was driving it as if it was my new car [:D][:D]and never really got into the correct zone ie well above 6k revs

My GT3 was 997.1 then a gen 2. Strangely I actually think the Spyder ride is slightly firmer than the GT3, are you sure you didn't have the PASM is sport/hard mode ?? On the noise I always thought the GT3 did sound great esp with the sports exhaust at high revs. The problem then was you were doing totally illegal speeds in anything other than 1st gear !! One thing I have noticed on the Spyder compared to GT3 noise, is in the Spyder you don't really hear the actual engine, only the exhaust noise - which is really good BTW. On the GT3 you seemed to hear the actual engine noise much more which I did like, I'm guessing there must be more sound insulation on the Spyder for some reason ?? It does look like the top of the engine is well insulated for the roof to sit on top of. I think they are both great cars, but the fun is more accessible in the Spyder at sane speeds.

I think the DFI engine in the Spyder, being much more refined, doesn't have much noise to give off. Certainly noticed less engine sound from that DFI engine compared to the engine that was in my gen 1 Cayman S. I too like engine noise. I prefer it to exhaust noise. But refined engines is progress I guess.

I cant be 100% on what mode we were in but I was with a PEC instructor who offered me an hour on road so I figured real world driving far more informative but as I said before I never gave it the beans as the roads were greasy too from light rain so I am sure your view as an ex owner is far more accurate tham my fleeting hour. Glad to hear you are enjoying the Spyder unbeatable when the roofs off[8D]

The £45k OPC Mayfair Spyder is no longer on the used car locator tonight now back down to just 2 cars as the summer kicks off Just 2 on Pistonheads one being my old 2010 manual example Great time for anyone wanting to sell[8D]

The Porstsmouth car is now on Autotrader http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201406305422886/sort/default/usedcars/make/porsche/page/1/keywords/spyder/radius/1500/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/price-from/40000/price-to/45000/postcode/cb45bx/model/boxster?logcode=p

That certainly is a record price for a high miler wonder why they feel it is justified with many low milers going for less [:-]
