Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Great photo, very little mention of silver cars, this would be my colour preference in a Spyder, not least because of history.
We did have some cool pics of silver cars in the library

We chatted a bit about the different types of silver, but not many had silver cars: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=719756&mpage=61 White is my favourite colour for the car but a silver one would have suited the picture below better IMHO

Is anyone on here thinking of going to the "Yorkshire Big Breakfast Meeting" at Specialist Cars of Malton this Sunday (12th)?

I really like the current Rhodium Silver enough to order a 981 Spyder w Full Garnet Red Leather interior[;)]

You must have a good system for recording your photos, some terrific pictures of the silver Spyder and its ancestors. The two humps (bumpers?) on either side of the rear number plate, on American cars are really ugly. Two of the silver Spyders have Georgia plates but one does not have the humps, I wonder how the owner managed that.

Looks great but having moved down the screen from the Spyder photos above, the car itself looks less distinctive, more ordinary in some way.

Totally agree that's why it will have to be a 981 Spyder for me to trade up from my current one[;)]

There was a nice white Spyder at opc bournemouth today when I was taking a spin in a 991 rhodium silver ! When we got back they had just unloaded a new aqua blue boxster Gts Very tempting but.....if the 981 Spyder was out now would be close thing but I have an experience morning 20 th oft with a 991S so should be able to decide which way to go then, but Linda very much steering me to a coupe again, possibly because of my diminished hearing !!!

I had to use a couple of memory methods to find what I was looking for, but then I ended up finding most of it on page 355. Check that out for photos, videos and reviews[:)] Before I pulled together that lot together it was even harder to find stuff. I can't try the page now as it's too big for my phone, but if it's got the pics of Spyders with Ferrari's, it looked pretty good against those[:)] http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=719756&mpage=355

OK, so Ferrari pics weren't on page 355. Will have to fix that![:)] Here they are.
ORIGINAL: flat6 :ROFLMAO: I take it you guys wouldn't spend £227K on an FF either. It seems a bit of a misfit. Here is Autocar's summary: Should I buy one? We’d be jealous if you did. The FF’s massive price tag (£275,827 with options in this case) puts it in the upper echelons of motoring excess, well beyond the normal means of anyone familiar with personal loans and PAYE paychecks. Overall it well deserves its place in such rarefied air; the model is not fanboy poster fodder, but it’s a hypercar carrier of four unrivaled in ethos or execution.

Whether the theme of that particular concept appeals to you personally is another matter. For some the FF may be too big, too heavy (1880kg), and with its four-wheel-drive safety catch, even too conservative to offer a proper Ferrari fix. Others may find it too noisy and punishingly raw for high-end grand touring. But for those in-between, those willing to compromise slightly at either end and also not yield to inclement weather, the FF could be the compelling purchase of a lifetime. If I had the money [] I wouldn't buy one unless it was my 4th Ferrari alongside a F12 Berlinetta, a 458 and a California (yes, bonkers) and even then, i'd rather wait to see if they produce an alternative 2+2. I'm not convinced Ferrari aren't contradicting themselves with the FF and what they've said they will and won't do within their core products whilst leaving the deviations to Maserati. Anyway, some pics to link back from Ferrari to our Spyder[;)]

Dyllan the GTS you saw was probably in the new blue "Sapphire Blue" an old Triumph name for their blue back in the 1970's[:D] Was it a customer car or are they stock piling already[&o]

You are spot on the money as usual Robert!! I thought it looked different from aqua!! Bit difficult under all the white covering[:D] But yes a customer car ,the lorry arrived with close on a million pounds worth of stuttgarts finest!! The showroom was a bit empty when I arrived - the sales guy said that they had probs getting enough used stock as a consequence of the recession biting a couple of years back which apparently hit porsche new sales quite badly, and although they've recovered well it means used stock is low . Don't know if that's just sales talk of course, but Lee at Hatfield was bemoaning lack of used stock on Tuesday too

Hatefield has no used stocks because they don't offer reasonable prices[:D] My accountant said they were way off the mark in a recent trade in his 991 S Cabrio v new 991 Turbo Cab in the end he did a deal with an out of London OPC and saved himself £1000's

Think carefully before taking up that offer, it could be a very expensive day. I am on day 8 with this wonder machine courtesy of the very nice people at OPC Nottingham.

I used to think that an auto 911 cab was the worst combination. Right now, I am a little bit in love. This is a 991 S PDK with sports chrono, PASM, heated memory seats, BOSE, you name it. It is stunning.

Rob I think a lot of the love affair is because it's a drop top [8D] Now go try out a 981 Boxster GTS and save yourself a good 40k[:D]

What's wrong with your Cayman that they need it for 8 days?!

Do you know, I don't think it is. It drives like a coupe with the roof up, you really would be hard pressed to tell. It is big enough inside that by moving the passenger seat forward, there is sufficient room for 2 teenagers who are so happy just to be in it that the journey is a laugh. It is "oh my god" fast with 400bhp and PASM is excellent in it. It drives so well, there is definitely something about it. Roof down the fun factor increases ten fold. That you can put the roof down at 30mph or from the key fob when it's parked just adds to the sense of occasion. It is frighteningly expensive and you could have 2 of my car and change for the same money and a broadly similar driving experience (Cayman is and feels a lot lighter) but were I in a position to do so, I would buy this car.

Zyp, It is having a very small area of paint corrected. OPC Nottingham have been brilliant, my car has been collected by them and is getting returned on Monday.

If anyone is looking for a Silver Spyder one has just come up at the same OPC I bought mine from If interested contact OPC Edinburgh .sales manager Marcus . It is a Manual SS.Buckets . 11.500 mls . 2 owner. March 2011 . Sport Chrono .Sport Exhaust I know the last owner just traded it for a 991GT3.

i did wonder about the cab version as i love droptops but have always preferred the boxster drop to the 911`s but the 991 IS a whole lot nearer the coupe lines so.....anyway at least this gives you another full size shameless bit of free advertising!!
